How much time do different schools give you in order to put down a deposit and accept their offer?

One of my interviews is in Feb. and I would really like to get to see the school, but if I get an acceptance on Dec. 1 at another school, I was wondering if I would have plenty of time to decide whether or not to accept their offer. Have any of you prior applicants put down multiple deposits?

If accepted Dec....you have 45 days....after like Feb-March its 30 days and then after that its 15 days.....its definitely on the 45/30/15 cycle just not sure when the cutoffs exactly are.

Each School is different for Deposit Amount

Generally
• 45 days after notification if received on or after 12/1/2008
• 30 days after notification if received on or after 1/1/2009
• 15 days after notification if received on or after 2/1/2009
• 10 days after notification if received on or after 5/1/2009

not true, its a standard based off AADSAS requirements. Unless they school doesn't participate in AADSAS (tennessee and such) they must follow the guidelines.

I think the OP wanted to know if you can hold multiple acceptances with deposits...the answer is yes but not after May 1. If you hold multiple acceptances beyond May 1 any or all of the schools can cancel your acceptance. So don't hold more than one spot after May 1. You will probably also lose your deposit if you decline your spot later. Not to mention that other people would also like your spot (so don't hold on to it too long). But the bird in the hand is worth more than....anyway.

Say Dino you should work on your reading comprehension skills.

Actually the OP asked several questions. And all the succeeding posts have addressed at least one of the OP's questions.

Great info. So now let's consider a scenario: An applicant receives and acceptance from his/her #2 (or lower) school on December 1st but interviews at his/his #1 sometime after January 15th, the final day to accept an offer for 1st rounders. Can he/she send the deposit to the #2 school and wait to hear back from his/her #1, and if accepted retract the acceptance to #2 and accept #1's offer? (I think yes as long as it's before May 1st but wanted to double check)

Thanks in advance!

Yes it's perfectly acceptable to do this. just keep in mind you'll lose your deposit from the #2 school, but it's definitely worth it in the scenario you have above just in case you don't get into your #1!

Thanks for the info. So there is no rule against holding an acceptance while waiting to hear from another school as long as you've made up your mind by May 1st?

As far as I know there aren't any rules against it. I knew a few people last year who did it! Technically you can hold multiple ones even past May 1st it's just a really bad idea because on May 1st all the schools are informed of all the OTHER schools that you're holding spots at and are allowed to cancel your acceptance. So yea it's best if you've made up your mind by May 1st.

Becareful of doing this. The dental schools are notified (and I am not sure how) of when you accept/place deposit at another school. The admissions director at MWU stated that they would pull their offer of acceptance if they found out that an applicant had accepted/made deposit at another school. She cited the fairness to all that had applied/recieved interviews/were being strongly considered.

Really? So you're saying that his 22 RC isn't good enough? 😀

It's funny because the post right after his addresses how the OP asked multiple questions. I think HE needs to work on his RC 😀 If I do, lord do a lot of pre-dents because I got a 22!

I think the point is that they are notified of this after May 15, people can hold more than one acceptance before that point and the schools don't know (like in the scenario one person posted above where you get into your #2 school and hold that spot while you go to interview at your #1)
