Is January 27 the second round of acceptance for UTHSCSA?

Okay that's what I thought too! You think Immunology would be a helpful class to take with this new curriculum for SA? I'm definitely taking A&P but I also don't care to take not-so-useful classes if I don't have to next semester since I'm already accepted and wayyy above my requirements for graduation anyways haha

I also don't think that the curriculum posted on the UTHSCSA website will be accurate for the c/o 2021. As far as the current curriculum, we did not have a separate Immunology course but we covered immunology material in our micro course and in path. I have no idea what the new curriculum will entail; the people who have interviewed know more about it than the DS4s do. I guess they figured there was no reason to inform us of the curriculum since we are on our way out.

Would UTSD still send out invites in January or is it kind of game over for those of us whom have yet to be invited to interview there

I think the last round of interview is at the end of January, and invites have been sent. So if you didnt get it, I'm really sorry.

But someone correct me if I'm wrong.

Yo @Advance weird question, but is y'all's parking garage open today? I kind of want to view fireworks from up there haha.
It should be. You can't park in there without a school ID but you can just park across from the school and walk up to the top of the garage. I don't think any security will be there to kick you out or anything 👍

Not to appear lazy, but does anyone know the attendance policies of the schools?
I'm sure if you ask administration they will tell you it's mandatory. In reality though it depends on the professor. Some professors don't care. Others do. Usually the only time our class is in 100% attendance is if there's a quiz, exam or for any labs. This is for A&M.
I think Houston might be more strict about their attendance policy though. @Carbohydrates or @Typical Average Student
Would know more about it than I.

It depends on the classes. Like our histo section of biomed last semester, attendance is optional.
But labs are mandatory.
For lecture, most of the professors take attendance at the beginning of classes. Some just keep track of the attendance. Some use it as part of grading. I think if you miss like 25% or something, you automatically fail the course even if you pass all the exams.

Not sure if this is relevant, but I'm thinking about applying for student housing at UTSD Houston and if I select a 2 bedroom how does the roommate situation work? There's no questions about it on the application, so do they match you?

You enter in your roommate's info along in the application. Just to let you know, 2 bedroom is really hard to get since both people to be there to move in

I've read around here that most lectures are recorded and some people like to just stay at home and watch the uploaded video at like 1.5x to save on study time. Is that something the TX schools usually do (UTHSCSA specifically)?

Most of our lectures are recorded and uploaded the moment classes are over.
And yes, you can 2x speed it if you wish

Yes UTHSCSA records lectures.

Got my invitation to interview at SA today for Jan 23rd, realistically, what are our chances for the guys who interview last?

I have two acceptance OOS but will most immediately drop them for SA

I was in the last interview group for SA last year, there were about 25 people. I overheard that we were all competing for two spots.

Does any one know when is TAMU second round of acceptance? TIA

Does anyone know the remaining interview dates for Houston and Dallas? And when will the final invites be sent out? Only interview so far is San Antonio.
We're on the same boat! hook em horns. What are your stats?

Anyone know what's the "word" out there for UT Health's new curriculum ? If you interviewed at San Antonio, what's your take on the new curriculum as it was presented?

So the hours we will be taking are not any different from the previous curriculum. They are switching to a "systems based approach." Instead of solely taking a biochemistry course, we will be learning an organ at a time and learning all it's biochemistry, physiology, pharmacology, and so on and so forth. Additionally, we will be seeing Intro To Patient Care both spring and fall of first year. The goal of the new curriculum is to ease the transition into clinic.

I like the idea but am hesitant because we will be the first to the new curriculum and they have no precedent for boards.

I wouldn't worry about the new curriculum as far as studying for boards. The faculty will remain the same and you will be presented all the relevant information just in a different order than we were. In the end you do have to restudy the info for boards regardless so as long as it was taught to you at some point, you should be fine. First time pass rate for both boards at the school is usually in the mid 90%.

I just don't know why I haven't heard back from texas schools and I'm a texas resident. I have 3.6 GPA, 21 DAT (low PAT, QR). I'm missing a committee letter but I have the three letters. What's my problem? Who can I contact...should I just put my eggs in the reapplicant pool?
What are the 3 letters that you have?

This is weird. Your stats are competitive.
I hope you get an interview, but if you end up having to reapply, I'd take the time to "show face" and visit with the dean of admissions/visit the clinics of each school, just to show interest and get your face out there.
I knew things were getting competitive but dayum....
