99. In the tradition of a previous poster: My 9 other schools as an absolute last resort😛 🙁

the funny thing about this thread is seeing other people list as their #1 school a school which you have applied to, but are kind of unexcited about, and you're just like "huh, that's your #1, why??"

Of course, thank goodness it is like that...if we all wanted the same school 16,000-100=15,900 of us would be pretty unhappy

Ideally, I'd love to get out of Chapel Hill (been here 9 years, great town and a great school, but it's time for a change). However, if I get accepted to UNC it'll be really hard to turn them down.

Yeah, it's no Duke, but it's dirt cheap! (what, like $3500/yr?) Funny story... So back when I was applying for undergrad, I got into Duke and Carolina. My dad, ever the financial aid negotiator, called Duke financial aid and said, "so, I can't afford this. I think I'm going to have to send him to Carolina." Lo and behold, Duke faxed him a revised financial aid estimate that essentially matched the price of Carolina. 🙂 Of course, I didn't end up going, but still, it was pretty cool...

P.S. Still miss the sweet tea from Bojangles... 🙁

ME TOO! those are my top choices exactly, UVA is my top choice (though with my <30 MCAT I don't think that's happening) and MCV/VCU and EVMS are tied for second (no preference yet but will probably have one after interviewing at both later this week. hokiedoc, did you fill out an interview feedback for EVMS after you interviewed there?

other top choices are Pitt (also a reach, but did get a secondary) and University of Maryland (mom is a physician in MD and I got a secondary, still waiting to hear).

3. Tulane/Vermont (man, wouldn't they be fun! 🙂 but i can't justify the cost over my state schools)

Hey everyone!

Here are my top 3!

1. UMDNJ (New Brunswick/Piscataway, then Newark)
2. MCP Hanhemann
3. Temple

Secondary went out for UMNDJ-NJMS about two weeks ago, and I'm still waiting on more secondaries!

Good luck to everyone!

WOW! My thread has really "exploded" here pardon the pun.

Here's my slightly revised 3 as they now stand:

1. Northwestern
2. Pitt
3. UIC

Yes, folks its official. Loyola has fallen off the list. UIC gained big ground for me today at my interview. The school seems to have improved over the past few years. I thought hell would freeze over before I'd choose UIC over Loyola but I guess its snowing there right now.

Guys keep posting as your feelings change toward your schools as a result of interviews or rejections. 🙂

I'm going to agree with Sweet Tea on this one. I applied to different schools knowing that I could be at one of them. If I get in to one of several, my ideal school is the one I get an acceptance for.

The most interesting thing about this to me is that although I understand people *apply* to a range of schools, people also seem to list some radically different institutions as their "top choice list

eg East coast versus west coast
clinical versus academic
research versus community
big city versus small city versus rural environment
schools emphasizing primary care vs those emphasizing specialisms

I could give examples but I'm trying to avoid anyone thinking I'm "picking on them"...I'm just intrigued by it thats all....

My choices:

1. Duke
2. UCSD
3. UCLA

However, what I want and what I get are two very, very different things . . . 🙄

You know what they say:

Your medical school chooses you, you don't choose your medical school.

Temple chose me. 😉

has anybody's opinion changed after interviewing?

i never posted my pre interview list, but my opinions have changed some. i couldn't really see myself at wash u anymore, i liked georgetown a lot more than i though i would, and cornell has gone WAAAAAAAY up (haven't been to all my interviews yet, but dare I say "top choice"?). looking similarly on paper, i think i'll end up liking northwestern a lot too when i interview there.

i dont know what to make of my preliminary top choice (upenn), since they wont interview me 😛

U Pitt and Case went way up on my list, I loved both of those schols. UMich is still my top choice, even though they waitlisted me. I would agree with DW that I didn't care for Wash U at all when I interviewed there, I was surprised.

I'm not applying till next year but
1. Arkansas
2. Medical College of Wisconsin
3. Loyola
