Hi all.

If I have a bachelor's in biology and my transcript is over 10 years old,
do I still need to retake all the sciences courses I took 10 years ago to get into pharmacy school? Are the credits still valid?

Can you let me know? Thanks.

Most likely yes you will. I have a friend who had to do this. Some schools told her they would be willing take the non-science pre reqs from her bachelor, but the core science ones they would not. In the end she had to re-do all the pre-req's at a CC. Most school have a policy that their sceince pre-req's can not be over 5 years old. Some will require you to take ALL the pre-req classes over. You'll need to contact each school your applying to and ask.

It truly depends on the school. You should check out each of the schools' websites for the specific requirements since each school is a little different. If the websites do not answer your questions, then call each school and talk to someone in admissions for guidance.

I received my bachelor's in business 15 years ago. I took calculus 1 & 2 as well as gchem 20 years ago. For some of the schools - like UCSF and Texas - this was fine. For a few other schools, I needed to take all of their required science courses in the previous 5 years, including the 3 courses that i took 20 years ago. Still other schools - like Colorado and UNC - said that I did not need to retake those 3 particular courses since I had completed more advanced science courses in the past 5 years.

You definetly have to ask the school. Some of mine were 10 years old and they were fine with it. I think it's pretty dumb- how much does Calc and Orgo change anyway??

It's not about the change, they're prereqs for a reason. The schools are probably under the assumption that after 5-10 years of not studying the subjects, you would have forgotten most of it, which will hinder you once you get into pharm school.
