I recently decided to apply to MPH programs. I am just sending my transcript requests and requesting recs this week. The thing im worried about is TIME with sophas. I heard sophas takes a while to process these things and my #1 school has a deadline that is January 1st. Does anyone know how long it takes for Sophas to verify transcripts/recs? If i send them out this week will they be verified before january 1st so Im not declined by default?

The time could he anywhere between 2-4 to get verified. Then it needs to go out in the mailing. It all depends on busy they are. Its running around 2/3 weeks now BUT the holidays are coming up so there's no way to tell. Of you are just requesting recs and transcripts now I would be more worried about getting them to sophas in a timely manner.

Not to be the bearer of bad news... (and maybe they're better than last year)

I submitted my app on Dec. 1 last year (had already sent my transcripts to them weeks before that). I received an email from SOPHAS on Dec. 17 saying that my app would be sent in the next mailing. Guess when that was?? The first week of January...my schools all sent me notices that they had received my app on Jan. 7th. Moral of the story: send everything as soon as possible (FYI most schools don't necessarily have hard deadlines, and it really depends on their applicant pool. Sometimes you may miss out on scholarship opportunities, but may still be considered for admission if you miss the deadline by a few days...call the schools if you're really concerned.)

If by verifying you mean gets recognized and recorded by sophas, i would say extremely fast. I just put in a transcript request at my school last week, and it's already shown up on the website. (Is that what you mean by verifying?) So you will be fine 🙂

I think verifying means GPA calculation, which takes up the longest time

i e-submitted on sophas a few days ago but still waiting on a second LOR so they can start processing...should i be concerned about apps that are due mid-january? thanks!
