I'm having trouble with an appropriate topic. The only thing I could think of is that when I came to college I came in having lost about 30lbs. After 2 years in college I gained about 70lbs. It was a combination of stress and other factors, but it impacted my self confidence and interaction with people as I was always aware of the way I looked, made sure to buy sizes up, pull my shirt away from my skin. I have been able to lose 30lbs so far through diet and exercise and would be able to show medical schools that I understand that view point as a patient that is overweight.

But other than that I am not sure what to write.

Thank you!

Anyone else have any ideas? Or any one else write about a similar topic?

Sounds fine. But this prompt isn't about how you will relate to patients...it's about your showing your resilience and coping skills. These are things that are crucial for surviving medical school.

Thank you!

Would talking about losing my first patient as an EMR when I was 15 also be acceptable for the prompt? Or should I stay away from medical issues such as that? Basically after I lost my first patient I felt very guilty and kept blaming myself, thinking I could have done something better. I came to realize that doubt and uncertainty is okay and that I can't hold myself to an unreasonable standard.

bump, would like to hear opinions on the loss of my first patient
