Hi all,
I'm trying to decide whether or not I should apply early decision for University of South Florida College of Pharmacy. I do not have the best stats although I do have several extracurriculars and am taking PCAT on September 3rd. I do not want to wait to hear back from USF until I am able to apply to other schools but USF is my number one choice.

Thanks!

If USF is your number one choice then there's no reason to not apply for the early decision program. Nothing would change in waiting until the regular window of applications roll in (assuming they will be able to see your PCAT score by the early decision interview window). Most programs have a rolling admission, accepting students and filling seats as they interview so the earlier the better!

to me early decision seems like gamble. However, if you REALLY want to go to that particular institution, then you should. Remember, you can apply only one school for entire application cycle until you either get accepted/denied as early decision

I feel this is phrased poorly. You can only apply to 1 school as early decision. You get to interview in September, and know if you were accepted, rejected, or deferred to the regular cycle in October. If you are deferred, you can reapply to that school and others in the regular cycle. If you are rejected you may apply to other schools in the regular cycle, but not the school you wanted for ED.
