I recently recieved an interview invitation from TUCOM and heard that you get your acceptance or rejection letter within two weeks of your interview and if you get an acceptance you need to pay your deposit right away. Does anyone know how much that deposit is and how much time we have to come up with the deposit?

If I am correct it is a $2000 deposit due two weeks after you hear your decision. So basically you are going to plan to have the deposit ready 4 weeks after your interview.

$2000 is not a small amount of money by any means BUT if you have the opportunity to put down that money, it means you have gotten into med school and will be a Dr. someday AND when it's all said and done, you probably won't miss this money much in the near future. (oh and it does go towards tuition if you attend the school)

ALSO if you have an unusual circumstance I was told by the director of adm. that it may be possible to get a small extention in time to send in the deposit. I definitely recommend calling the school to ask any questions and I am sure they will help ease any anxiety you may have. Best of luck!:luck:

Mishy,
When is your interview, and where. I have one at the California campus on oct. 31. The deposit has to be in pritty quick, which kinda sucks cause you really have to make a big decision right away.

Yeah, this is a huge bummer for me because my first interview is at Touro-CA next Monday and then I immediately hop over to Las Vegas for interview #2 the next day. My subsequent interviews start mid-November...so I'm kind of anxious about that deposit!

My advisor told me to pick your #1 school and be prepared to pay there and one other school. That way you only eat the one payment at the most. If you have two touro interviews close together, just try and decide which one you prefer before the deadline for the $$ is up, then you can just pay one and turn down the other acceptance. $2000 is always going to be a lot of money for most doctors unless you go into some high $$ specialty, and that won't pay off for 5 years post-grad.

I am the same and opposite as you. 🙂

I have touro CA on Monday Dec 4th and Touro NV Dec 5th.

BUT! However, I scheduled my other interviews BEFORE my Touro interviews.

GOOD LUCK!

These deposits are non-refundable?😱

Email Roger, the admissions director. Be honest, and he'll give you an extension. I got over 6 weeks extension

I just recieved my interview invitation for TUCOM-MI but i havent scheduled it yet. The thing is that TUCOM is not one of my top 2 choices but it is one of the first couple of interview invitations that I have recieved and if its the only place I get accepted I would want to hold onto the spot. However I don't know if i would be able to make the decision about the deposit that soon.

And thanks everyone for their info and advice!

Guys---

You're paying yourselves, you know.

You do have to pay 2K, and another thousand in May.

HOWEVER, you get all of that back in your first tuition reimbursement after the financial aid comes through. Basically you get an extra 3,000 in the August refund once your Staffords pay the tuition. Mostly, though, that money goes to buying a laptop, which the school DOES require.

TU-MI requires a $2000 deposit within 14 days of receipt of the letter of acceptance. These terms are not negotiable (I tried). It's an investment. The difficult part is not having completed all your interviews yet having to pay this deposit. Well, there are worse situations to be in, after all.
