Tufts definitely had a friendlier vibe; it was much easier for me to relax here than in UPenn, and I'm a pretty introverted person... one of my interviewers just treated it like a conversation, while the other had questions prepared, but in both cases they'd had really relatable experiences - in the former's case, he'd visited Taiwan before (which is where I used to live), and in the latter's case, he was from India (and I'd done a volunteer internship in India last summer) and I could feel like they did want me to succeed in the admissions process. The events of the day surrounding the interview were also very "we want you here!" (lots of informational presentations - and a whole day of them, rather than the 3 hours at UPenn!) and very friendly/casual. Everyone was so nice! When a few of us needed to catch the 4:40 train back to Boston, the receptionist called the head of campus police to drive us back to the station, which is apparently a common occurrence with students on campus too. I'm just sad that having to take the commuter rail meant I missed the faculty panels at 9 AM... the rail gets to North Grafton at 8 AM, 10 AM, and then nothing till around 1 PM.
