Hi,

I was wondering can you hold your seat by paying a deposit at more than one school? I paid my deposit for WVSOM but then I got accepted to LECOM and I am considering attending there due to the reduced tuition however I am skeptical over where their PBL curriculum is right for me. My first choice school I was deferred at post interview so Im waiting to hear from them in the next month. Can I pay a deposit at lecom to hold my spot there as well? Thanks

Yes, you sure can... deposit =/= enrollment. However, be aware that refund rules differ by school (e.g., LECOM is $1,500 non-refundable). You may flush a couple thousand dollars down the toilet by being indecisive.

Thank you ! i just wanted to make sure I wasnt breaking a rule and I know! basically everything I earn during my gap year is going towards med school stuff! However, wvsom is about 100k more expensive so a few k isn't that bad in comparison in the long run at least. Not so much now though

My adviser said the same exact thing when I told him I plan to apply to osteopathic schools. He has had students waste about $5,000 by being indecisive.

How much is the deposit for WVSOM? I think the amount that most D.O. schools require for deposit is unfair... I just had to put $100 deposit to hold a M.D. spot...

It's pretty crazy. My adviser said he disliked how MD spots are a load cheaper than DO spots.

No he loves the DO schools but he just thinks its unfair about the deposits. When I told him my numbers (grades wise) and said I wanted to apply DO. He smiled and said most "3.3/3.3" students tell me they only want to go MD but I told him I actually prefer the DO philosophy more and I love their schools and career options of having DO residencies and "possibly" MD residencies to apply to.
