Could someone please tell me if either UAB or Emory uses EMR and at which hospitals? It is going to be the tiebreaker between the two programs for me as I view them as completely equal...
Thank you so much!

Both have VAs with use the Va system EMR. I also believe me (and I may be wrong) that both use EPIC for the EMR at the remaining hospitals.

Not as familiar with Emory, but UAB has complete electronic medical record at the main University hospital (where the bulk of your training will be), VA is the VA EMR, and total paper chart at the small county hospital (where you will rotate 1-2 months of intern year and 1-2 months 3rd year - is actually one of the favorite training locations of all the residents).

Is it a full EMR at the main hospital (meaning you right notes electronically)?

Note writing, order entry, consults, labs, vitals, radiology, medication administration, etc are all done through Impact (by Cerner). Like the previous poster said, this is at University Hospital and the Kirklin Clinic. The VA uses CPRS and Cooper Green-Mercy uses paper charts.

I don't have much basis for comparison, but I think it all works pretty well.

Emory uses powerchart at main hospital and midtown hospital. Grady also uses EMR but is a different system.

I interviewed there last year and recall the PD saying they were rolling out EPIC across the whole system. Not sure how far they've gotten with that.

I heard from them first week of October. Liked the program overall, nice residents, seems like they have good didactics. I was +/- on Atlanta. Ranked 'em pretty high.
