UBC Pharmacy 2017 Applicants

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Haha sameee and I don't know if you were on that floor, but there was a volunteer who kept telling me to breathe and that I was doing good LOL. On the inside, I was actually freaking out about how badly the acting station had went...

Crazy thing is, the questions where I felt I did good, I ended up going passed the time limit. Never has five minutes felt so long and then so short.

I seriously have no idea how mine went. Some stations, I felt like I rocked it, but other stations I think I messed up pretty hard 🙁

The acting station was tough! I walked in there thinking I'd rock the acting station and as soon as I stepped out of that room I wanted to kick myself because I knew I'd totally bombed it.

lmao @ arora who said she/he rocked the break station...same here buddy.
It's so difficult to really know how well you did because we are our own worst critics and half the time we only remember the cringe-worthy stuff we said and not so much the other stuff.

Did any of you got poker faces from some of the interviewers?...sometimes it led me to think that I am just saying the wrong stuff

And the poster above me, so true....we always remember the stuff that we did not wanted to say at that time.....there has been many times after my interview where I was face-palming myself for saying some of the stuff that I did lol

Yes! A few of mine had the blankest expressions I had ever seen... True professionals, it made me a bit uneasy!

I totally forgot about the acting station. It was near the end for me, so I was cruising along and then I read the scenario asking me to interact with the actor. I almost pooped my pants! I managed to get out without feeling too awful, at least.

So when does everyone else think "The Day" will be? I've got a feeling it'll be next Friday, but I'm hoping they come sooner.

Well, the 10th day after the final interview is Wednesday the 19th, so hopefully it'll be out by then... The waiting is killing me D:

I just got an offer for housing on campus that expires on the 19th, so I'm hoping I can know before then 🙁

Does anybody know what sort of deposit you need to pay if you get accepted (for Pharmacy)?

Same, I was cut off mid-sentence quite a few times! And then I had to complete my thought really quickly haha.

@Simie, yep, some of them definitely didn't look satisfied with what I was saying. One of the interviewers didn't even look at me while I was talking lol...

I'm in a similar situation with the housing, I applied and got offered a place but I had to pay my acceptance fee on the 12th before I know I'm into pharmacy or not. Fortunately if the worst happens you get refunded completely (plus you get the cancellation fee you have to pay back) So if we don't get anything by the 19th you can still pay the deposit without much worry.

Hey guise =) I've kinda been a lurker here...but i signed up today

It's legit worrying me like crazy. i mean anything can happen, but this is our future we're talking about. it can go either way at this point. 10-14 dayssss :'D...assuming that it's 14 days to wait...and the last interview was june 9 (sunday)

10 DAYS LEFT :luck:

I think about my acceptance/rejection like 3-5 times a day ( which isn't helpful cause i have midterms at the moment UGH)

good luck everyone 😀

The acting station was tough I'll admit.

It felt like I was in an interrogation room.

Oh goodness, it's such a relief to read through some of these threads.
The creative one was my first station and I walked out feeling TERRIBLE and thinking that's how the rest of my interview was going to be like, haha. But it turned out okay.
😀
The acting station was probably on my top 3 list of worst stations as well. There were some awkward silences and I just didn't know what to say....
I even ended that station early cuz I was completely stuck...
:scared:

Okay, that eases me up a bit. I think they just don't want to influence what we are saying by their facial expressions......but one of the best stations I had was where the interviewer was reacting to what I was saying, even smiled, so that says a lot.

@ clam28, don't worry about ending early....better to leave things when there is nothing else to say rather than saying same things repeatedly

Plus, in U of T thread, some people got accepted that thought they did well in like 6 or 7 stations....so grab optimism from wherever you can guys! and good luck to us !

Last year UBC sent out letters within 9 days of the last interview...and they had 4 days of interviews. Expect some good news early next week😛

I read somewhere (perhaps here in an old thread?) that the interviewers are instructed to try and look interested/disinterested/bored/emotionless etc. to see if it will affect your confidence in what you're saying. This could explain why some interviewers felt very distant. Of course, this could also just be BS and the interviewers were actually bored with what we were saying :scared:

Your stats are excellent. As long as you do fine on the interview. I don't see any Pharmacy school turning you down. For comparison, I was an out of province students. and I only had about 73th composite and GPA of 3.0.
I'm a out of province student. My prerequisite average is around a 71 and cGPA is 75%. My PCAT composite is 94. Do you know if there are many students like me who got into the program? Thank you.

I pretended to talk to the main character in the acting station. -_- total idiot lol

As long as you got an interview, you got a chance.

thanks arora. Hopefully we'll hear back soon. I am not sure why this year there are fewer applicants chosen for interviews. I guess that is a good thing.

I think they just streamlined the interview process actually. Somebody said there were 6 groups of 30 a day = 360 total, the same number that were interviewed last year.

It did seem like they were churning through groups pretty quick.

Yeah, my interview started from 7:30am, so I think they were able to fit in more groups in two days

Unfortunate for those who wanted to bank on the interview.

Wouldn't it be 324 interviewees, since there should be 9 per group? I don't think anyone had to start at the rest station.

Did anyone have to start their interview after 5:30pm?

There were 10 per group. Someone had to start at the rest station, aha..
during my time slow anyways. Not sure about others.

I was trying to calculate it when I was waiting in line to sign in and another girl overheard me and told me she called and they told her that 375 applicants were interviewed.
:scared:

got accepted at U of T

applied to UBC, will decline if accepted 🙂
Congrats on U of T!
That's another spot for someone who potentially gets waitlisted,
but I hope we all just make it in!
😀

there are 361 interviewees this year and its done in 6 groups of 30 each day. I am sure of this.

So nervous right now.. They could come in any day..😱

Yes, this week could be it! Hopefully they come sooner rather than later. The longer I wait, the more likely I feel a rejection might come my way 🙁 ahhhh, gotta stay positive!

I'm super excited and nervous, I don't have very good patience however!

it's probably gonna come on the 18th or 19th. stay strong!!

Congrats everyone who were invited for the interview. I will be applying for next year. I hope some of you could answer my question.

I did my pre reqs in two oop universities. I roughly know which courses they'll be using to calculate the admission avg but I'm not clear on this for the courses I did beyond the 1st year pre reqs. I emailed UBC about it but they said they'll only evaluate my transcripts after I applied for it. So, after applying, do they tell you your pre-req GPA?

Good luck everyone!

me too...I actually forgot to answer part of the question during one of the stations...😱

My first station was hair loss one and I just got owned on that station. I blanked out plus the interviewer was quite harsh. Things got better after though!

We weren't told anything beside the fact the we're invited for an interview.

I got a letter from co op today that started with "congradulations", and I almost peed my pants thinking it's pharmacy... I can't be the only one that's this anxious right

I'd glad you felt that way. I also blanked on the first station.

Hello people!

I'm getting nervous and was wondering if we will be getting letters tomorrow :scared:
Any nervous ones out there?

if they stick to same schedule as last year then results will be out around 9am tomorrow. it's gonna be a long night :scared:

Good luck everyone. Either way, we've all done well getting to this stage. Now we got insight into the entire process.

I feel nervous just reading this.
Haha.. oh goodness, I'm not gonna sleep tonight..
😴

Oh man, the one day I wish I was at home and not at work 🙁

I used all my data on my phone and I'm trying not to go over this month but tomorrow I work 10-5:30 and since my car is in the shop (it's been a ****ty week lol) I have to walk to work which is an extra 45 minutes on each end. I don't think I can hold out that long without knowing! Lol

Yeah we're all anxious... I just hope the faculty can spell congratulations 😛
