Hi everybody!

I am new to this forum and want to find out more about the UC Irvine program. I have already done a search within this forum, however, most of the posts dont seem to say much about the program and/or talk about what has happened years ago.

Can anyone give me their opinion on the program as it is now? ie the strengths/weaknesses/clinical training/attendings/general atmosphere? Do many residents want to stay on as staff?

Can PM if you would like. ANY information on the program NOW would be helpful!

Thanks

interviewed there recently - its a small program with ~ 10 residents per class but definitely a nice program. They advertise themselves as "apple, not PC" because they are all about being on the forefront of technology etc. Apparently this is all due to the new chair from Yale who arrived a couple years ago who has really turned the program around. All residents I met and attendings I met were very friendly/happy. Facilities were good. Met a good # of residents who stayed on as staff, in fact, one of them was doing a research study using applicants as part of it - we had to do simulation of central lines, TEE, and fiberoptics + talk to a standardized patient on our interview day - wasn't a big deal though, was kind of fun. Of course, 1 day of interviewing is not real info - you should probably talk to a resident there. Cheers
