congratulations, ambs 🙂

I interviewed late (March) and called admissions who said that most probably late interviewees won't hear anything until May 15. But good luck to you guys this next week

I kind of feel like april 15th might be a drop dead date. That doesnt mean it cant be earlier. Its been over a month since the last batch of acceptances. so I feel any day now we could be seeing status changes. and there's only 7 business days until then anyways.
The best time to check your status page is probably between 2-3 pm since that is around the time last few batches were updated to the website.
 
So, I called UCLA today. I didn't give my name or AMCAS I.D., but I did ask when the next batch of anything would go out. The lady said, "probably at the end of April."

Yeah. I just called too. The lady mumbled something about the committee meeting mid April and making decisions between then and the end of the month. Arggghhh. More waiting.
 
So I just checked my UCLA status page, for kicks you know. And it says "final decision letter sent 4/5". I interviewed on 3/18. I have a bad feeling about this. Any thoughts on this?

WOW - what a quick response you're getting! Less than a month. I predict it's good news because they made the decision on your pretty darn fast. Good luck, and I hope fabulous news comes your way! :luck:

wow, good luck lunacake, I don't think they would have pushed it if it was negative. They would have just waited and rejected you when your app came before the adcom. IMO, chances are it could be good news.

Wow. My heart was beating so fast while I was logging on to check my status page. And now that I see that a final decision letter was sent... its beating even faster. Aaaaaauggggh. Dang, I'm almost even hyperventilating. How long did it take most people to hear back once their status page changed?

Four days, and I live an hour-ish from UCLA.

I live in the Sacramento region, and I got a status change on a Tuesday. I received the letter 6 days later on Monday. It seems that LA folk hear by Saturday.

so my status page only changed this afternoon (i checked this morning and everyday before this). but it says my letter was sent on 4/5, tuesday. do you think this is right or did they put the wrong date in and letters actually went out today? for a neurotic person having to check the mailbox each day, these 2 days make a difference. 😀
 
I got a status change as well!!!!!!!!!!! I'm worried though, I interviewed back in Nov. Do you guys think that's bad news? Also, can anyone who lives on the east coast tell me how long it took to get their letter?

I wish I knew. I know for a fact that my status page wasn't updated until this afternoon as well and it also says 4/5. Hopefully that date is accurate. Good luck to everybody waiting to hear. Here's to hearing good news by sometime next week!

something funny just happened and i thought some of you would appreciate the humor in it. so i was telling my boyfriend about my "theory" on what this date thing means on my status page and yada yada and he responds totally calmly, "hun, i hope you know that you have OCD on this issue". pretty funny. 😀 it is nice to have someone to keep me semi-grounded in real life.

mine didnt change either.
 
long john, it seems they starting updating the status database late today and will probably continue through tomorrow. that's what i'm guessing. hang in there until Friday

if this is like the march 4/7 update then that would make sense. Acceptances were loaded first and with back date of march 4th while the rejects/waitlists were loaded the next morning or the same day but with a status change date of march 7th. However, both letters were received at about the same time suggesting they were also sent out at the same time.
Bottom line: Accepts were loaded first in the system. Will that trend continue this time?
 
i've been checking my status page many times this morning until i gave up....turned off the internet, drove back to OC from LA...ate....watched TV... then tonight, when i logged back in SDN....going through this thread...my heart starts beating faster and faster....omg, .."letter sent" on 04/05 as well even though today is 04/07...i wonder!!...(i interviewed on St. Patrick's day :luck: )

ahhhhhh...this gonna kill me ...i'll be out of town this weekend until next Wed...ahhhhh...i really want to open the letter myself but i know my parents would do it b4 me....keep my fingers crossed for now...good luck to everyone who's waiting for the letter as well :luck: :luck: :luck:
 
who's having their letter sent to westwood/LA area?
We are going to need to watch you for any early indications of what this batch is composed of. Please tell.

i think westwood/la pple should receive their letter friday or the latest Sat.... for my interview invitation letter, it updated on Fri and i got mine on Tues...
 
Good Luck everyone. I believe interviews go up to Mid-May (As I'm scheduled to give tour until that late). Also, every other person I met in my class seemed to have come off from the waitlist, so there is hope if you're on the list.
 
i called the admissions office and was told that i had been put on hold. pretty much no chance of getting in. she said that first they will exhaust the alternate list and if that happens, then they will pick from this group. so i dont know if this is 3rd tier alternate list or what.

sorry to hear that girl. I knew all this waiting = not a good sign for us.
good luck with your other schools though. I know UCSF will pull you off the priority list.
Also, the woman on the phone told you you're status?!! They are notorious for being unwillingly to tell applicants any information over the phone.
All other applicants who had the 4/5 status change you better call the office fast before this nice secretary lady leaves.

the committee meets more often now. Definitely more than once a month. Probably around every other week. That could probably explain how decisions are being sent out every two weeks.

basically at UCLA, there are 4 categories you can be put in post-interview.
Accept
Waitlist - Unranked waitlist also called alternate list
Hold - Ranked wailtist, only selected if original waitlist is exhausted, I guess
2nd Tier waitlist
Reject

i am pretty sad right now. i am glad to know the answer but i dont see how it possibly took them this long to decide whether to reject me or put me in the pile one above outright rejection. i am obviously not a good interviewer and it doesnt help to interview with the most boring physician in the world who just typed on his laptop what i was saying and provided no feedback and ate his lunch. but i am just very bitter and sad right now.

I wouldnt be surprised if they muck me up like they did you. We had such similar interview experiences and similar numbers. I think the only thing that has spared me their knife so far has been my LOI. Without this I am sure I would already have been given the reject/hold sentence.
 
I am sorry, btowngirl. 🙁 I am confident that you will get into UCSF from high priority, though!
 
I just called 2... 🙁 the lady said i was put on the alternative list ...unranked and the letter is on its way. .......another long period of waiting... 🙁
 
Me too!!!!!!!!!! 🙁 🙁 April 5 status updates are not a good thing. I know that UCLA still has acceptances to give out so good luck to all those still waiting.

Hey lunacake, did you call the office yet. I have a feeling that based on your fast respond time, you could be one of the lone accepts in the 4/5 batch.

Dammit! I missed the nice admissions lady. The lady I got refused to tell me anything, not even if all decisions are the same in a single batch. I'm expecting bad news now based on you guys' results.
 
so i guess this is turning into another 'kiss of death' batch. That makes 3 in a row - march 7, march 15, april 5. Maybe what the adcom is doing is trying to narrow down the pool until they can send a last huge accept batch. just speculation.
