why is that just me and btowngirl are the only ones who interviewed before jan 1st and still havent heard. something funky going on and i dont like it. 😡

Yep, I have called...multiple times and have only been given mixed messages. Like two weeks ago, I call and the woman after looking at my status says you should hear in two weeks. Then I call at the end of last week and a different receptionist says we'll try to have it up in another two weeks (should have been only another week longer according to the first lady).
This is BS! and now I think they are on spring break so another week of nothing is most likely for the rest of this week. The only question is, is the class really full or are they waiting to send out another batch next week just before march 30th in order to meet the aamc regulations on having at least enough admits to fill the class by the end of march.
I really do believe some sort of decision batch will be sent next week on either monday, tuesday or wednesday.

i think they will work through spring break. students get it off becuase it is semester/quarter break. staff still has to work though, i think...so our decisions wont be any more delayed than they already are.

those are not the dates of spring break at ucla either for undergrad or med school. undergrad is off starting tomrrow until the 30th with classes not resuming until april 4. med school has different breaks all together.

from what i know, med school's spring break is over 2 weeks ago ...this week is their 2nd week for a new block.

Given day: Applicant calls to hear post-interview status and includes date he/she interviewed. Told should hear either by the end of this month or early April, i.e. first week.


NEXT day: Applicant's parent calls but does so anonymously, although includes interview time and is told decision should arrive in the middle or end of April, ~3 weeks.

Why do they even give us a time frame - they're basically just saying, "I don't know." I feel their pain too; they're admissions secretaries who have absolutely no hand in our decision. I'm sure they'd love to put a stop to our endless phone calls by giving us a definitive answer.

I don't know about the last day, but I know that they interview through April.

I remember I read this AAMC regulation before. AAMC just "recommend" every school to send out acceptances by the end of March that equal the size of their entering class. Anyone have the link to AAMC regulation for Med School ?

from what I am hearing, the next batch should be sent no later than the middle of April. But then again, these crappy adminisitrators have provided such double talk that I dont know what to believe. Here's what I have heard so far when I have called their secretaries, provided my amcas #, and asked when I would here:
Called in early Feb: "you should hear by the end of Feb"
Called end Feb: "You should hear by early Mar"
Called early March: "You should hear in two weeks"
Called in Mid-March: "You should hear by the end of March"
Called end of March: "You should hear by mid-April"
Will it be true this time. anyone get some sort of confirmation of this date

yeah, maybe they wanna wait until interviews have concluded before possibly giving the last batch that would fill their class (pre waitlist acceptances). Kinda makes sense since they may wanna see all the applicants before filling those final highly coveted regular spots.

I understand your frustration in waiting, but c'mon--give these admissions people a break. They're handling so many applications and fielding so many questions each day, and I don't think that it is necessarily fair to expect an absolute answer from them whenever you call.

Obviously, they are not misleading you on purpose--many of the admissions decisions and notifications dates are out of their hands and up to the adcom.

So please give them a break.

I know it's out of their hands but I agree with LongJohn. Everytime I call they tell me two weeks. Why don't they just say that it could be anytime through April. They should just admit that they don't know.

I know this is a UCLA thread, but my UCLA-anxiety is nearly gone as of today! I just got accepted to OHSU today, and I interviewed only four weeks ago! OHSU was my top choice tied with UCLA, so I'm elated and relieved!
