3/22 status change - HOLD

After the worst interview I have ever had in my life, can't say I was surprised :laugh: :laugh:

Giving up my unranked waitlist spot. A lotta peopple want to come to LA but I think it's time for me to get the heck out! I'm off to Chicago. Hope my vacancy bumps someone else up!

so far they sent out acceptances...then waitlists... then hold and a few rejects...i think the next mailing will be a large rejection only batch...i mean they need to reject 200-300 applicants...and so far it seems like only a few have been.

i suuuure hope not! i hope there are more acceptances to go out than the one February batch!

Most people will be waitlisted. Very few get outright rejected.

UCLAstudent, is there anything that you can share about the HOLD category that would shed some light? Is it completely hopeless, very unlikely, etc. that UCLA would exhaust the high-priority waitlist and start drawing from the hold list? It would be nice to have a clearer idea of what this means....... Thanks!

Thanks, UCLAstudent, and no worries! I like to think of myself as a realist, and I'd rather not continue holding onto some false hope. I'll continue to hope that others receive a different fate!!! :luck: 👍

Meh.... The last few days on this thread have been a real bummer! I was really looking for some good news to get me excited about meeting all of my new classmates! UCLA really needs to pick up the pace on the good news.

In any case, best of luck to you all! I know how frustrating it is - although UCLA bestowed its acceptance grace on me in that first batch, I have 5 other waitlists (2 received this week - yay! 😛 )..... so I know how mind-numbing this process can be!

Swtiepie - best of luck to you! I have lots of friends/family in or formerly in the Cali med schools you are considering, and they are/were all really happy - so I'm sure you'll have a great experience wherever you go!! 🙂 :luck: 🙂
 
I also got the HOLD (which I could see multiple times through the envelope, in caps of course). And although I don't have multiple acceptances like other people on the thread do, I'm fine with it. And if I don't get into the school for which I have an interview in April, I'll just reapply (earlier this time!). I kind of wanted to get out of California, even though I would have stayed here for UCLA, so now's my chance to get out and live on the east coast for a little bit. 😀

Oh, and thanks to everyone on this thread for their support!!! Good luck to those who haven't heard yet! Hopefully you'll receive better news than us 3/22-ers!

I've been reading for awhile but thought I would post so you guys can count me. I got the 3/21 status change and got waitlisted. I really really really want to go to UCLA. Do you guys have any advice as to how to write a really good letter of intent?
 
Unranked waitlist, got it today. Oh well at least they kept it consistent.

What's going on? According to what I've heard, only half the class has been accepted so far. (Now I know what it must be like for Sanjaye - my numbers are lower then the numbers of most of the people in this batch).

I'm sure you will all be terrific physicians. SP, your future classmates are soooooo lucky to have you in their class 😍 .

Hey wildDoc, do you know if this info is reliable about only half the class being accepted so far? It seems to be a point of contention here and everyone is kinda speculating. Some think there will be no more acceptances and others are still holding out hope (including me... I interviewed post-2/23 and wasn't in either of the recent batches. i hope I am not too disillusioned).

Hey all, I finally got a status change today. Says letter sent 3/27. I'm in the bay area, so it shouldn't take too long to get to me. I'll let you all know what it is when I get it

I'm really not sure how reliable this rumor is. I think I heard this from a friend who is also trying to get in. I believe he told me that someone he does research with called admissions on his behalf, and that’s what the guy told him (this was after the first batch). Honestly, I’m not so sure. Sorry.

3/27 batch..hmm..

interviewed early December and still no status change...i really hope to find out by next Tuesday- it will determine what courses I take for next quarter!
 
do we know if the remaining letters have to be sent as batches? or just like some letters here and some there? b/c none of my friends have a 3/27 change and only one person on SDN has a 3/27 change.....

Anywho, I thought we were all supposed to know by the end of this week? this waiting blows.

I really wonder what the fate is for us "no changers"

I'm just as curious as you are... I wonder what the hold up could be for people that interviewed quite some time ago. I am doubtful for a status change by the end of the week, but I am sure hoping the few of us left hear something soon!
 
just interviewed there last friday... so i cant complain about waiting too long, but i will share what i know - i just called admissions to ask about my transcript, and while on the phone i asked if i had simply interviewed for the waitlist because the class was filled or near filled by now... the person who answered the phone said no, and that the class was not full yet, and that admission offers would still be going out...

take that for whatever it worth, it was just the person answering phones at admissions

can someone run me through the possible post-interview decisions. from what i gather you could be accpted, rejected, waitlisted, or put on hold. what is the difference between the hold and waitlist?

I think it's (in order of good to bad): accept, unranked waitlist, Hold, and reject. People on hold supposedly wouldn't get in unless the unranked waitlist is exhausted and I don't think that typically happens. Someone can feel free to correct me if I'm wrong about any of the above.

I believe this is correct. I called the admissions office the other day to clarify the HOLD and they said that there was a group of higher priority & that they'd have to exhaust that list before considering those on hold. I told her it's nice to be optimistic, but could she tell me if the hold list ever really has been considered. She said rarely & that UCLA encourages those placed on hold who have acceptances elsewhere to move ahead with those options....
 
I interviewed on 2/08 and had a staus change on 3/27. I went to check my UCLA undergrad grades on URSA and discovered an offer of acceptance. I thought I'd be waiting for days like everyone else for the letter to arrive and there it was on my URSA. Go figure.

congratulation! then the 3/27 batch is a good news batch...but I think there are only a few on this batch
