Hi everyone,
I have already reserved for flight and hotel for a place (cathedral hill) that's 3.4 miles away...and I have no idea how to get there. 😕 Does anyone know how to use the BART or the public transportation? Or should i call taxi? Thanks for your help!

If you are there for vacation, take public transport if you want. For an interview, I'd just take a taxi. That way you know you'll not get lost and you'll get there on time. Taxis are reasonably priced. And you won't be crammed on the bus between the guy who just got off work at the butcher shop and the girl who just came from aerobics. Pee-ew.

Figgure out the logistics of public transport and use it to get back to the hotel after the interview 👍

You can go to SF MUNI website and get all the schedules. I don't live there but my uncle does, and we go out there for a few weeks every year. If it were me I'd just feel safer taking a cab TO the interview.

Thanks! I'm getting nervous no that the interview date is getting closer and closer...

SF has great public transport. We use it every time we visit, but I wouldn't do that on an iterview day I don't think.

You should be glad you got an interview at UCSF 👍 Very competitive to get into. Good luck! Don't forget to breathe.

Congratulations! I got an interview there too. I booked my flight already, but not my hotel, but will do it this week. I'm in the same boat you are in b/c i've never been to SF...When is your interview?

If you took MUNI, you would take the 38 Geary on Van Ness and Geary (the bus stop is temporarily moved a little down the street on Geary towards Polk). Get off on Geary and Masonic. Cross Masonic and then cross Geary and then take the 43. That will take you right in front of the building you're going to have the interview in.

But I agree with everyone else. Take a cab. Less stress and less time. It'll probably cost about 10-15 bucks. If you want to learn how to take public transportation in the city, use www.511.org and click on TripPlanner. Good luck.

Take a cab!!!! Absolutely!! Depending upon the time of day, you may find MUNI pass you by because they are full. Your money is well worth the anxiety. Also...be sure to allow yourself enough time to find where you need to be. UCSF is a very small campus, but some might feel it is a "rabbit warren". Allow yourself enough time to find the room you need to report to, go to the bathroom, etc. If you have extra time, there is a cafeteria and it is very safe to walk the neighborhood (& this time of year is beautiful in SF). Good luck & have fun!!!!

btw...the concierge @ your hotel can tell you how much time to allow a cab to go from your hotel to the school.
