I just submitted the supplemental. I am so happy to be done with it! That was by far the most difficult application yet.

keep me posted! like whether u received confirmation email.. etc
hopefully i can submit mine in a week or two!

I don't think they send out confirmation emails until Dec. when all the applicants have submitted their supplementals. I'll let you know though when I receive mine 🙂

ucsf thread is very quiet!
i am thinking about submitting mine in couple days! goodluck everyone!

You're seriously on this forum every day, give it a rest dude. Reorganize your priorities, your life will be better

whats wrong with coming to forum everyday? dont need to worry about me. I priortize my things well enough and I am just here to read and get some quality information when i have time between my work and school. I dont see where this hostility comes from lol

Do you really want to give adcoms that much evidence against you? Last year's UCSF thread had some girl named Claudia Botet who literally posted her picture on the forum. They may say they don't read SDN, but I'm sure they do, and if you're gonna be so stupid to go as far as give out all the interview questions like GaryTang89 did on the USC thread, you should really look in the mirror and think about the decisions you've made. And he has his picture in his profile too.

I screenshotted his post for my benefit, of course I'm gonna study those questions, and now everyone else is going to have a major advantage over him and his interview cohort.

Stop being dumb people.

It's nice to have the threads to see when people are being invited compared to when they've submitted, but come on. These threads aren't about finding the easiest way to get into a school or discussing ways to take advantage of the system.

Be smarter.

As long as you leave as little information as possible to link yourself to a profile, there shouldn't be a problem. kinda sounds like you're just hating
kies89.

Probably born in 89.

Male.

Maybe first or last name is Kies.

Nonnative english speaker based on the posts I've seen.

If I dug deeper, I could really find some stuff.

I'm not posting this because he's putting himself in danger, I really don't care. But he's trying so hard to game the system, I don't respect that.

it would have been much nicer if you just said that rather than talking about priortizing my life thing 🙂
i have not thought about this issue though. thanks for the heads up!

for the supplemental application, did you guys write something for the other information part? it says

"This is your opportunity to provide the admissions committee with additional information that you believe is relevant for consideration but that is not requested in any other section of the application. Alternately, you may use this space to expand upon something mentioned in another section of the application or to demonstrate creativity, inventiveness, or individuality."

would it seem bad if i left it blank cuz they're saying you can just use the space to demonstrate your creativity...

I have trouble finding the supplemental application on the website
Can anyone provide me with a link? Thanks

So...What happened to this Claudia person?

Sample questions are already all over the internet, whatever Gary Tang posted was most likely redundant information.

Did anyone hear from UCSF about interview? When are they supposed to inform us?

Blueberry is a troll! Don't take him too seriously, it is fine to check in here and to be motivated about your interview process. The schools probably don't check these forums but they could easily so don't post anything that could make you look bad -- as blueberry himself is doing right now!

Good luck with the applications, I'm a P1 now and you'll get in somewhere, trust that.

just got the interview invitation ! looks like finally they are sending invitations. goodluck everyone!

Do they send them all at once? Or over a few days?

Jan 31! Has anyone gone through the whole MMI thing? Any advice? I'm getting real anxious about it because I'm not very good at thinking on my feet 🙁

Did anybody already interview? Just wondering how many interview dates there are

I have an interview with UCSF coming up and I am freaking out about the MMI portion! Can someone please answer the following questions:

1. Did UCSF just start implementing this interviewing method in 2013?
2. Can someone who have experienced this before just tell me the format of the MMI?
3. Do we like read a prompt before going into each interview circuit room or will the administrator tell us on the spot?
4. I've heard people say that we can outline our response before revealing them to the administrator?
5. Is each station like 6 minutes long?
6. Do we have to physically act out the situation and to what extent (just with our hands, etc)?
7. Should I not waste time introducing myself since everything is timed?
8. Where can I find sample MMI scenarios or other practice material?

Attending pharmacy school at UCSF is my dream and I want to be confident on interview day. I am not trying to gain an unfair advantage by asking other what were the scenarios but I just one to know the format so I have an idea of what to expect. Any help is appreciated and thanks in advance!

Hi @kpop lover,

First of all, no need to freak out! I'm sure that it's counterproductive. You want to go into the MMI confident in your abilities, but more importantly, confident with the fact that you may not know exactly what to do. Worrying about the process itself is less important. I'll answer some of your questions. We're not allowed to reveal specifics.

1. Yes, when I went through it last year that was the second year they did the MMI.
2. They will tell you the format and what you need to know in order to go through the process on the day of. I don't think your preparation or anything would change much by knowing exactly how many buttons you press, letters are in the instructions, or times you have to knock on the doors. In fact, they've told us that MMI research shows no correlation between knowing the exact prompts beforehand and performance.
6. I suppose that no matter what you're asked that you have to "act it out"... although you should "be yourself" at all times. In terms of physically acting out something with your hands I'm not sure what you're getting at. CPR? Counting pills? "Tell us a shadow puppet story about pharmacy"? Again no need to worry so much.
7. Whatever they tell you to do, you can probably figure out if it's appropriate to introduce yourself. Think about how you would really act, and I'm sure in most situations introducing yourself is a nice thing to do.
8. I recall that Joel had sent us an email and linked us to a website with basics about how to prep for the MMI. One good place to start was Wikipedia just to get an idea of what an MMI is, and you can look for other examples. When I practiced myself, I had friends make up MMIs. I think that when practicing, focus less on knowing the "right" thing you should have done. Focus more on your qualities, general interview skills, compassion, how you handled the stress, etc.

I do love it at UCSF so far and look forward to hopefully seeing you and the others around on the interview days.

For those who are interviewing this Saturday 1/31, does anyone know what time the day is supposed to end? Trying to make arrangements since I'm going to get dropped off. Will they be sending us any more information as we get closer to the date?

if you're starting at 10:30, the whole process goes until 3:30. then there is an optional tour that ends at 4:15

how was the interview for anyone who has done it already? Are we provided lunch? Overall how did you guys feel about the MMI and essays? Doable?

No lunch, but you get a snack about halfway through. I thought the MMI and essays were very do-able. They fully prep you for them in the welcome sesh when you get there, so don't waste any more of your time freaking out about them lol. I never felt confused or that I was missing any information. They also do a good job of explaining the schedule for the day and they even walk you from place to place with your group, so you won't get lost. Overall, I felt very welcomed by the faculty, staff and students (Joel is just as cool in real life as in his blog). Definitely don't skip out on the tour at the end, it's optional but it really helped me visualize myself as a student there.

Did they tell you the amount of students they chose to grant interviews to? AKA how many people made the cut?
