I attended a interview/admissions workshop and two Admission members were talking about how they stayed till 8pm the night prior making final deciscions on filling the class. Hope this thread helps to some of you! Good Luck!!!! :luck:
 
yup.. i heard the same thing from several sources.. they met thursday, march 16 to make final decisions. but just because u didn't get in doesn't mean u won't have a chance.. actually, if you're high on the waitlist, you have a pretty good chance.
 
So anyone who has been accepted has already heard from UCSF? Or does that mean we can still hear from them?
 
i'm not sure if they made phone calls yet. but the decisions were made on thursday.

it usually takes a couple days before they start making the calls. For me, they made the decisions of thursday, but i didn't get a call until tuesday. i didn't find out until wednesday b/c it was left on my answering machine at home.

And I also assume that the "waitlist" that you mentioned is for anyone who interviewed but didn't get rejected or accepted right? It's not an official waitlist is it not?

i believe it's an official waitlist. you will get something in the mail that gives you the choice of being on the waitlist or not.

good luck, try to stay sane next week.

just out of curiosity, is the official waitlist based on who interviewed first? so ppl who interviewed in January but got waitlisted will be on top of the list compared to the ones who had their interviews in feb? just wondering...

i have been reading your posts for a while. you really sound like a cool guy. your stats maybe rather low for UCSF, especially this year. therefore, do think of it as a dream. that way, if it happens, then you can just celebrate like crazy. if it doesn 't you won't be disheartened cus you will have prepared your heart for the ill news.

i know that you're a cal state resident but if i were you, i would choose NYU over USC. they are both expensive but NYU can atleast give you a nice name and a traditional DDS education (no PBL business). and it does not hurt to live for 4 years in the murray hill area of NYC.

good luck in whatever school you choose!
 
I wouldn't hope too much if I were you guys. After decision is made, the dean of admissions usually notify the students right away, especially this time of the year. If they like you, they'd likely to let you know right away so you don't have to put down deposit at other places. Please don't break your heart or go insane over the next few weeks. Most of the time, people know on Friday.

hey i agree with you. im not planning on getting in. if anything not in the first batch. im going with usc for alot of reasons. one is that is saves some money. two is that it is a traditional name (when u tell non dental people that you got into usc they are like ohhhh ahhh). three is that i dont have to move across the country. and four is that my brother who went to nyu only recommends the school beause of new york city. he had alot of things he didnt like.

anyways im still hoping for the underdog acceptance from ucsf hehe 👍

its great how people have no idea what they are talking about .... i called carmen and ana on FRIDAY at 3 PM and the both said that no calls have been made because they are the ones that give the adcom the phone numbers of the admitted students. And up until FRIDAY 3 PM March 17, 2006 they had not recieved those names and hence no calls had been made. So relax and stop the rumors.. and stop ruining hopes of people..

For goodness sake!!!! I just overheard the admission talking and didn't say they were making calls. They did say THEY FINALIZED THE CLASS and that is the truth. Please.....I'm just trying to forward the info not mix it up,

i agree.. just because they made final decisions doesn't mean.. they'll make the calls right away.

actually carmen told me in an email that they usually update you within one business day by email/aadsas website/or call. but thats just what carmen told me who know? nobody really knows here but its nice when people share what they think or what they heard.

try not too think about it too much.. the more you're expecting it.. the longer it will take.. it's like boiling water, it never boils when you stand and wait for it. but if you go do something else, next thing you know, you're water is boiling out of control..

i know it's a lame analogy, but u get the point right?

i called carmen on monday and she said that calls were not made yet, but that they will be made this week...

maybe sometime today?

Got a withheld call on my cell phone this morning.... but it was some dude asking for Stan. However I still thought it was the adcom so I was about to lie that I was Stan just to hear the words, "You've been accepted!". Of course I would've told them the truth afterwards 😀 . I think I'm going insane :scared: .

Yes. Dr. Newlon was cool as hell. Pretty daughter too.
 
So they're 'not handing out any more interviews? i didn't apply there, but my two bestfriends had their dreams set on that school. that sucks
 
yeah.. the last interview day was before march.
