UCSF Reloaded-- Anyone excited? Part 2

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
i fell while running (in a nice 5-year-old sprawled mass on the floor) and have nicely bloodied and oozing palms and knees (and one elbow - i can't quite figure out why), so I'm stuck at home...
Maybe my brain is just fried by Monday, but my mental image is that you're an injured five year old jogger?

a) I decided to go home. No mail today.

on a random note, i fell while running (in a nice 5-year-old sprawled mass on the floor) and have nicely bloodied and oozing palms and knees (and one elbow - i can't quite figure out why), so I'm stuck at home... argh.
Oddly, this happened to me too yesterday! I only scraped one knee and one elbow bc I executed what I'm sure was a deft roll. Maybe you rolled? I had just gotten drinks with a friend last night (yeah yeah) and I was waiting for the bus home. I wondered if I had time to run into Anna's to get a burrito. As I came out, I saw the bus pulling up. I began to run. I made it down one set of stairs. I was going to make it. I leaped down the second set. It didn't go well.

And that was Sun, before the week even started!

c)
Ltrain - let's do dinner. I cook, you eat. haha. anyone else in boston?
You're on.

Ok, I really have to go file my FAFSA. That's why I've been on this thread so much ;)

And you made fun of my avatar. You mess with me and GOD punishes you.

That's a good way to introduce yourself to your future classmates in UCSF's supportive environment...

Free pint of Guinness to the first acceptance this week... I'm not above living vicariously...

HP in the mail today. More waiting, ugh!

Resisting... urge... to make... joke....
Feel free....we are all friends here!:D

Damn. I already got waitlisted. I say if we all get accepted, that we have our AFTER second look weekend NIGHT!

yup. only i'm a 25-year-old who falls like a 5-year-old.

Hmmm.... we're jinxed here in the UCSF thread right now. Today is my birthday and for my present I got a 19-year old who decided to slam his mercedes into the side of my car- the door right next to Gabe in his car seat. Luckily I refrained from ripping his head off and stuffing it up his dingus- so I"m not in prison. The good news is that everyone is okay (other than the cars...).

Sorry to hear about those skinned knees and elbows- I think we should all tread carefully for the next few days...

OHHHH!!! So sorry SF. At least BG is safe and sound. Lets get some luck back to this thread though!:luck:

Sorry to hear about your car, SF. My car got several scratches near UCSF too... one thing I can warn you ahead. I'm glad Gabe is safe.. :)

I too have fallen under the accident spell. It happened on my mom's bday 3/10. A car slammed into the driver's side backseat door; they missed me by 2 feet since I was driving. I'm glad Gabe is ok SF! What is up with the cuts and bruises on this thread lately?! Peri & ltrain too have had some accidents; glad you two will be alright.

It's time for some good news people!

:luck:

No news in Norcal...the waiting continues....

SF, sorry about the accident. Teenagers and driving- ugh!
Thank God, Gabe is safe.

Let's keep the positve energy and karma flowing here :)

Well, hopefully this week will bring news *good Luck everyone* :luck:

Thanks everyone. It was a cold realization that the world was going to find my child and I can only hope it will be kind. I'm beginning to understand why our parents were all so neurotic.

We need a smackdown no pussyfootin' around acceptance on this thread!

:luck:

just for preview of dinner (for ltrain, and those who will be going to UCSF last year), i made some latkes, and stuffed crepes. mmmm yumminess. hopefully we've cleared the karma here and everything will go to good now. I'm happy no one got hurt in the car accidents, and I'm sure ltrain and my scrapes will heal nicely, and maybe be funny stories...

Good luck everyone, and g'night!

Kee-rist! That has to be pretty much every new parents' nightmare, no? Glad there were no injuries (as a result of accident or after-effects, if you know what I mean). Happy birthday, anyway, Senor Fish...

HP in the mail today. More waiting, ugh!
Well congrats on the HP list, anyhow. It's a sign that they know you're alive and that they still want you. That's a good thing...

Who else is still waiting for their first post-interview UCSF acknowledgement? Nothing here from my mid-Jan interview.

We need a smackdown no pussyfootin' around acceptance on this thread!

:luck:
I second that. Are they running out of acceptance stationary or something? Good luck to those waiting and those HP waiting...

HP in the mail today. More waiting, ugh!

P.S. For those of you who care about such things:

Interviewed Feb. 5th (maybe the latest who's heard something/anything so far, right?)
HP letter dated (& postmarked) Mar. 28th

Good luck everyone :luck:

Oh man, I go out to watch a little basketball and disaster strikes. SF, I'm glad you and your son are safe (and happy bday!).

Mrs. Smith, sorry to hear about the HP :( This is such a frustrating process.

NDY and PG, are we the only ones left waiting for news? I interviewed early Nov and am beginning to think they actually might have "lost" my app...

Have they told you when to expect news? Hopefully you get it before the revisit.

i got the HP letter today. interviewed in mid feb. in the letter it says we should expect to hear more definitive news by the end of the month. so fingers crossed...

I knew it'd been a while, ltrain, but early-November? Man... you must have had a lazy interviewer that needs to be escorted to Admissions meetings by gunpoint...

The lost response is pretty much everyone's nightmare. I'd totally laugh it off except that my completed secondary was lost in the mail, which I found out only by contacting UCSF. And I live about 2 miles away.

Keep the faith, PG and ltrain (and whoever is still in Phase 1 of nail-biting). Hoping acceptances await...

Congrats on the HP, diatom.

Hope everyone's caterpillars turns into butterflies in a few short weeks...

Jeeze!!!! I am so sorry to hear about everyone's falls and scrapes and car accidents and High Priority Waitlists...I take a one day break from this thread and catch-up reading is like a news briefing about a war-zone:(

SF, I'm REALLY glad Gabe is ok. That 19yearold better watch his back cause messin w/ our official UCSF thread baby is like messin with each of us!

May today bring better luck (and mail) to all those still waiting (PG, NDY, LTrain) and everyone watch your step while you're running, or goin down stairs, etc etc---let's try and cut back on the bruises:)

Thanks for sharing the youtube link, Photo girl. I know some of the guys in that video. :D

I interviewed in mid-late Jan....and waiting is becoming soo intensely mindnumbing....the mail has yet to come. When I called last Monday, I was told that I would hear in 1-2 weeks. :luck:

Good Luck everyone :luck: :luck: :luck:

I'm trying to refrain from calling because the one time that I did call, it was an intensely stressful experience for me. I kept expecting the woman to say, "oh, we mailed your rejection weeks ago." By the time I got off the phone (maybe a min tops), my heart was beating double time.

We'll see what the mail brings today. Good luck guys!!

That's what I get for complaining. Sigh.

That's what I get for complaining. Sigh.

I'm so sorry to hear that ltrain.. Hang in there. It could have been a rejection. We still have a 50% chance of getting off the WL. I refuse to accept defeat!

Oh my - glad to hear no one was hurt, esp that little cutie pie (no, not you SF, I was talking about Gabe...) but I'm also glad to hear that you are not incarcerated. :)

That's what I get for complaining. Sigh.
HP definitely beats rejection, ltrain, but sorry you didn't get an acceptance outright. You seem to be in pretty good company, though. It seems like it's been ages since we've seen an acceptance.

Good attitude for everyone to follow...

Hey, it's easier to handle than a rejection, especially after waiting so long. Now you know they didn't "lose" your app.

Better luck to us on the HP wait! :luck:

Sorry to hear that ltrain. I'm beginning to wonder if being reviewed early was an advantage.

Mrs. Smith- Unstoppably cute. Did you know they sell kid-size UCSF scrubs...

Hilarious, I will def buy a set for him if I get in. My most recent obsession are these toddler-size old-school rock concert shirts.

Owen is the proud owner of the KISS raglan tee, so far...

Anyone know how the HP list played out last year? My search function isn't cooperating - maybe it's down

Thanks for the nice comments, guys. We'll just have to stick it out with these HPs.

Mrs S -- Owen is adorable! And def made me smile :)

But 60 bucks for a baby tee!! NDY, I'll join you in the tshirt biz. It seems to pay more than "research assistant"...

Oh, and I'm still sending good luck vibes out to you guys waiting, NDY and PG!

But 60 bucks for a baby tee!!

Yeah, crazy what you'll spend money on once you have one of these adorable little guys. Meanwhile, I go around in jeans and old sneakers I bought 5+ years ago. My priorities are definitely warped!

Thanks so much....and Mrs. Smith- Owen is oh so adorable.

Well, good luck again.....:luck:

Okay, the results of a little mdapps search from last year. No mention of the HP in the 2005 or 2004 cycle. Maybe it's a new word for them.

High priority --> accept

High priority --> lower half of waitlist

I know, it doesn't mean much to me either, but after I searched, I thought I'd share...

Sorry to hear about all the accidents!

For those on the HP list, I hope you guys hear good news this month. NDY and PG and anyone else waiting to hear back that i may have missed, good luck! I hope all of you get accepted so i can meet you guys on second look weekend. a ucsf student told me that there won't be a lot of ucsf med students there b/c it falls on their spring break.
