Well, I recieved the thin envelope from UCSF today with a high priority waitlist decision.

It ain't a rejection yet, and I can proudly say that I'm in very good company. Best of luck to all...

We will have our day yet. We just have to keep waiting (which we are pretty darn good at, if I do say so myself) =).

I got in today off the HPW...

I am both shocked (i'd sort of quit thinking about it) and confused because I was pretty much set on Davis...

Now I don't know what to do! There are a lot of reasons for me to pick UCD but its UCSF!!! U...C...S...F...

I guess I'll come to second look and decide after that. I'm confused about my letter - it seems like I have to say a definite yes within two weeks but thats before second look...is that scary contract letter just a "prelim acceptance" or do we have to give a final answer within 2 weeks?

I think we all had that same language about accepting within two weeks. Obviously I haven't read your letter, but I assume you can 'accept' and then still withdraw anytime before May 15th and everything would be kosher. Lots of us are holding mutliple acceptances.

So does this basically mean that if I was HP continued applicant and I haven't gotten an acceptance, that I am on the waitlist now? In other words, I don't have a chance of getting accepted before being waitlisted?

Also, did anyone move from HP straight to acceptance? Or do all HPers go straight to waitlist? And if so, what's the point of HP at all? Why not just tell people they're waitlisted??

As sad as this is, UCSF said HP doesn't even mean a guaranteed spot on the waitlist....uggh...but the good news is it sounds like if you are put on the top HALF of the waitlist you have a pretty good shot of getting in...Congrats to everyone out there who has made the cut so far!!!

Hi, I am another stalker of this thread with an HP spot...I called the admissions office today and was told that all first round acceptances have now been sent out (as in last Wednesday) and from now on the HPers will be put on a wait list, where the top half will be notified on May 1st and the bottom half notified on May 15th (the specific dates I got from my pre-med adviser who got inside info..the UCSF office just said 'in May'). Just thought anyone else obsessively checking the mail box might want to know they can pretty much take a vacation for a while.....

if you guys can recall, last year they accepted roughly 250. First round of acceptances = full class which is about 140, I'm assuming. SO there are still 110 spots to give out right??? I think PG or Ltrian broke it down for us earlier too.

Keep the hope alive without driving yourselves crazy!

Q: For those of you who were HP'd most recently, did UR letter also say you'd hear back in late April or did it say May? I'm wondering if we might be able to figure out top or bottom 1/2 of the waitlist from the letters (wishful thinking).

Also, does anyone know how the waitlist is ranked?

My waitlist letter would have been postmarked on Thursday and it said I'd hear back from them in late April.

Well, late April (most likely meaning early May) it is. I planned out a backpacking trip to Yosemite about 5 months ago & it just so happens to be from 4/29-5/3...AAAAHHHHH!!! It's very likely I won't even be in So Cal when my post-HP decision arrives. I won't even have phone access (stupid T-mobile doesn't work in the woods!).

There's probably not going to be news for awhile. Even when late April/early May comes, the best news is that you're on the top half of the waitlist...then you wait for late May/early June.

I met with my advisor last week and he pointed out that right now is probably going to be the most relaxing period of time we're going to have in life for awhile. I think he's right, so I stopped stressing (although yes, I'm still reading this thread)...

I'm a Virginian and my letter was sent on April 4th (letter also dated April 4th), but I only received it yesterday on April 14th >sigh<. I interviewed in Feb. and this is my first update from UCSF post-visit. I'm definitely going up for second look before I make the final decision but it is certainly hard to pass up such an amazing school.

Good luck everyone - keep hope alive, you may have a particularily slow snail delivering your mail 😉

Apparently someone hacked into a file server that had personal information (including social security numbers) for most current and recent UCSF staff, faculty and students.

I'm just trying to figure out if it was something that is affecting applicants or not. I'm not sure because I used to work at UCSF, so I'm not sure if I'm receiving it as an ex-employee or current applicant.

Well, I was all set to go to a second look for Pitt this Thursday and had given up on hearing from UCSF, before the mail came 🙂. I haven't made a 100% decision because I really liked both Pitt, UCSF, and my state school (to a lesser degree, but they are offering some scholarship funds), but I'm hoping the second looks will give me a better sense of each environment - then I'll just go with my gut. I'm on a few waitlists, but I'm satisfied with the acceptances I have and will probably withdraw after the second look visits.

Best of luck with this process, mrs smith - hopefully we'll meet each other at UCSF!

Its my understanding that the California state budget will not be finished for awhile and all the UCs are waiting on it in order to disperse funds. I think you will get a rough estimate but they won't have any hard figures for quite awhile still, through no fault of their own...

Wo, this is so weird! I got the letter too, except I've never worked at nor attended UCSF. I'm just on the HP. Anyone else in my shoes? 😕

Just got back form cancun....so much has gone on in my absence..Congrats on those who recently got accepted......Well...I went to get my loads of mail for the past week and what did i get? A small letter from UCSF, I was HP waitlisted before so For sure it had to be a rejection🙁 .....but upon opeing it is was just the Fraud alert mailing...😀 It is weird that I am so happy to have potetially lost my personal info........Only cuz it means i am not rejected!!!

Some people got accepted in early April who had been HP'd earlier in the season. Someone posted earlier that he called admissions and all the pre-waitlist acceptances had already been sent out, and that people still in the HP category will hear either top half, bottom half, or reject in May. So although HP was not always a waitlist for a waitlist, it has essentially become just that at this point. 🙄

GottaLuvit seems to be a USPS anomaly as his/her acceptance was mailed 4/4.

I did not receive the fraud letter. This has happened wya too quite a few times with the UCs.
