When do they start making/releasing decisions?

I think UCD starts notifying applicants in January...

UCSF? (I'm interviewing in Jan....) Anyone know? 🙂

I thought I remember something about UCSF makes its first round of decisions Dec. 15th, or releases them that day. But, I know somebody out there on sdn knows for sure.

That is correct. The committee will first meet on December 15th, and then once a month around mid-month after that. They said if you interviewed early, and you don't hear a decision in December, not to freak out because, more likely than not, it just means one of your interviewers was out of town when the meeting occurred.

Ack.

UCSF releases the first decisions Dec 15th (via snail mail), and then the 15th of each month thereafter (or so), but they said to expect it to take AT LEAST 8 weeks after your interview. So, I interviewed at the very end of October, but I assume that I will miss the Dec 15th deadline, so I don't expect to hear anything until mid/late January...... But maybe I'll be surprised for Christmas, who knows....... =) Best of luck!

waiting to interview....until jan...and then more waiting....fantastic 🙂

same boat, photo_girl. I have a mid-Jan interview and thought that this would mean maybe a mid-Feb notification. 8 weeks? Oi....

Does anyone know if UCSF sends out all decisions (acceptance, waitlist, rejection) starting Dec 15th or if they just start accepting Dec 15th? Just curious.... oh, UCSF, my love, I'm crossing my fingers for you! 😍

I think that UCSF just sends out acceptances in the beginning.

I was told the same thing at my interview regarding the fact that the committee(s) have not met yet and will do so in December for December decisions. However, a friend of mine applying to the MD/PhD program said that they told him all the admissions committees were already meeting. I guess it really doesn't matter since the first decisions will be out Dec. 15. I too am anxiously awaiting their decision and hope that I get an exciting New Year's gift!

Does anyone know if it will show up on the status page whether or not a decision has been made before they send out the decisions? Mine hasn't changed, but just wondering.

I was told by the admissions office that post interview decisions will not show on the status page....all applicants will be notified by snail mail after interviews. Cross country mail will be quite slow I assume......purrrrrrrfect. I've already decided that I"m not going on SDN anytime near the December decision, it will just make the waiting from the East Coast even more agonizing🙂

Did anyone else who got an interview at UCSF feel shocked that they actually got an interview? Mine is Dec 14, I'll be sure to talk about it non-stop when I get back, so keep an eye out for me =)

Don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to ride myself too hard. The rest of the world gives me a hard enough time as it is. But I heard that the UC schools didnt accept anybody from out of state and people asked me why I was bothering to apply to UCSF with just a 31 on the MCAT. So I dunno, I didnt expect them to want me to turn in a secondary, let alone want to interview me. I know I'm awesome, but I thought I wouldn't be "good" enough for a UC school - you know, don't these top tier schools want people who taught an African village how to pump water, or someone who plays drums in a rock band or you know, someone cooler than me? Maybe I just let these windbags get in my head and doubt myself..

I have a good GPA and research and clinical experience, so those areas are A-ok. I'm interested to know what your experiences were and who got interviews. Maybe they really do care about the individual... I guess I just wanted to know if anyone was feeling the same way, you know, so I don't feel quite as silly for actually worrying about it.

I too, as an out of stater, was rather surprised to get a UCSF interview, esp cause it was a really quick turnaround. But then they told us at my interview that actually 30% of the people they interview are out of state. At the time I was blissfully unaware of how hard it is to get into that 30% or even into the 70% in-state...so I didn't know to be thanking my lucky stars.... However, during my interview day, and afterwards, much more information came my way and I began to thank many lucky stars in earnest. I have pretty good stats but so does everyone else applying there...I have no clue what specifically drew them to me....I normally would assume it was my extreme good looks except we never sent them a picture🙂

I wonder how many batches of interviewees there have been. I suppose if there were plenty in Oct/Nov many won't hear 12/15 BUT if there were only 2 batches each month then maybe people will hear. In any case good luck to those who have news coming within a week! :luck:
