UF c/o 2014... It Begins!

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I just got mine this morning. Hopefully you did too.

I saw that and got so excited! I thought you were talking about your acceptance letter, then I read the whole post!! I guess it's obvious that I'm one of those people constantly checking my e-mail!

I started checking my email, about every five minutes from the moment I got home from the interview... Like by some miracle I was going to be the first to get a same day decision. Then as time went by I started to get more nervous, second guessing everything about myself... I think my family was happier than I was when I got my letter, not because of the accomplishment but because I would stop driving them crazy!!😀

People that interviewed at Jacksonville recently, keep us updated. I was told that we would find out in "the next 3 to 4 weeks." I interpret this as any time between now and 3 to 4 weeks, but everyone on here has been finding out in less than a week. Has anyone actually had to wait this long?

I interviewed in Jax, (as you know because you helped me out earlier) when I was interviewing- the Dean told me at the end, "you should know 2-3 weeks", not thinking clearly I told her " i might have a heart attack in that amount of time" , she laughed and then told me, "well lets just say that it is a good sign when your sitting in this seat"

With that said... I have still been checking my email every 5 min. especially today because the Orlando group heard on the Wed. after their Frid interview.

At what time did you interview? I was around there between 11- 1:30.

I was there @ the same time!!

congratulations...! Which campus and when?

Thank you!!! I have an interview for the Gainesville campus this Friday!

I'm kinda shocked though because I thought I wouldn't get Gainesville even though I ranked it #1!!

AND I'm kinda shocked it's last minute notice but THAT'S TOTALLY OKAY!!! haha! 😀

For those that have already been interviewed, what are some things that we should prepare?

Hey PharmdBatman and alkene...my advice is take TOEFL as soon as possible...actually, make sure you have enough time to adequately prepare for it first... pull out all the stops. Review books, check blogs, ask your friends etc. Batman, other than Reading, your PCAT scores are sweet...I would think that if you do well on the TOEFL, then that will show UF that you know how to read:laugh::laugh:.

But, to be prudent, you should call/e-mail UF Pharm program (phone number on their webiste) and ask about the TOEFL policy. Personally, I would think that whenever they get your TOEFL scores, they will consider your application...so try to get it done before end of May at the latest...but I only pretend to know what I am talking about😀 you may want to ask UF Pharmacy dept who actually knows:luck: OK, maybe I am taking this whole emoticon thing too far😕😕 anyway, I think I will go outside, so I better put on my shades😎

I didn't see your post. Thanks Howard Yehti for me giving a hope. I called UF and You are right that there is no specific deadline for submitting TOEFL. They also told me to take it as soon as possible. I took it already and waiting for my scores.

For those English is not their First language, have to take TOEFL. After my Toefl test, I looked at the UF requirements in the following link.
http://www.cop.ufl.edu/studaff/admission.pdf
According to UF, there are specific minimum score requirements for TOEFL sub sections ( speaking(25) , listening(20) , reading(20) and writing(23) ). Also they also requires a minimum score of 80 out of 120 for TOEFL.
Does anybody knows whether UF really cares about the sub scores or just the total score (ie. "80" )?

your interview is this Friday? So they sent you invitation just 2 days ahead? Go ahead and start with your interview preparations. Good luck

I don't know much about TOEFL, English is my first language. But, I do know math. If the minimum for each of the 4 sections are: 25, 20, 20, and 23...then the minimum possible overall score to "pass" each of the 4 sections would be (25+20+20+23=88) so, a minimum overall score of 80 doesn't really make sense...unless the overall score is not the sum of the 4 sections.

I would think if you are below and close to a minimum, and they like you as a whole, then they can make an exception...just my opinion. Also, helps to donate a large sum of money to the school, usually enough to build a new library building is sufficient. Also, helps to be the child of a past US President. Being a Kennedy, although not a past President, is good enough.

So.....does anybody know of any good scholarships to apply for?

So.....does anybody know of any good scholarships to apply for?

I think the acceptance letter said that the Fin Aid department would be sending us some to apply for in the summertime. I am kind of curious about those, but generally I don't qualify for scholarships, so I don't look into them.

It has been a week since the Jax interview.... Has anyone heard anything???
I hate this waiting!!!

I just got the conditional admission e-mail! GO GATORS! 😀

🙂
You all will most likely hear back on Monday. Don't stress 👍

Dude, that's just not how we roll!!!

****************************

This is notification of your Conditional Admission to the University of Florida, College of Pharmacy for Fall 2010. We will send you an official Conditional Admission letter via email by Friday, April 23, 2010. We look forward to welcoming you to the Class of 2014. Thank you.

I just got my conditional acceptance also!!!!! I have a question though, the e-mail said I would receive my official acceptance by April 23, but I don't have any classes to finish up or anything. So does everyone get the conditional acceptance letter? Just wondering because I thought someone said that the acceptance letters differed based on the individual applicant. Thanks!

So they informed you of your conditional admit, but you will get the official letter later? A little odd, I was wondering why the wording had changed!

:highfive: Congrats to all that are joining the class of 2014!

There is a HUGE to do list for each of as part of the letter. But yes based on classes to finish each letter is a little different. The 10 page to do list, isn't!!!

PharmGrrlJax, I'm confused. My letter did not have a to do list attached, and I do NOT have any classes to finish up. So I was trying to determine if everyone got conditional acceptances first. Also, am I supposed to respond to the letter? Or wait for the official acceptance? I'm just not sure if I should actually get all excited, or if there's something that may change in a week. Thanks again!

They probably just wanted to let us know before the weekend. Like the e-mail says, we will get a more detailed letter next week. I'm not responding, as it doesn't say to.
btw, everyone should join the uf-jax facebook group 🙂

That makes complete sense. I just wasn't sure if it was actually pending completing anything else.

i just got my "conditional" acceptance from Penny a few hours ago as well! 😀

Is there anybody having an interview scheduled on May 19th at jacksonville campus?

No one gets an official acceptance till all paperwork is complete. In addition to about ten forms to fill out, there are shot records to obtain, cpr certification to get, background checks, submission of final transcript etc... That to do list is the same for everyone, once all that is complete then you get your official acceptance.

So, I hope that answered your question, mine is conditional acceptance, I haven't heard of anyone getting an outright acceptance. Even their own UF students have to transfer the transcripts to the department etc...

:soexcited: So yes get excited!!

Yes, you answered my question perfectly! I didn't think I would get an out right acceptance, I just didn't get the "to do" list with the email, nor do I have any classes to complete, so I was just worried that I might be missing something. Just call me an over analyzer! Haha! I am very excited and I can't wait to meet everyone and get started! Everyone in this thread has been great and incredibly helpful! Congrats to everyone who has been accepted & good luck to everyone with interviews coming up!

Congrats on all the new acceptances! Feels good.. doesn't it 😉.

I am sure there are plenty of others. What are your stats?

Remember, interviews continue until June!

IT IS SO FUNNY YOU SAY THAT.... I swear I made my mom read it 10 times in the car making sure the email wasn't a prank... I was literally swerving out of control on the Turnpike... (my mom feared her life) hahaha

I got mine too! I wasn't even back home from the interview yet, but it was emailed about an hour after I left the interview.😍

Did anyone get a 4 or a 5 on the writing section of the PCAT? Either the Conventions of Language, or the Problem Solving? I got a 2.5 and a 3.0 which I thought are pretty embarassing for a native English Speaker.

Actually, did anyone get a 3.5 or better? They are graded by 2 people with a score of 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, or 5. If one grader gives a 3 and one grader gives a 4 then you receive a 3.5 if the graders disagree by 2 points or more, then it goes to further graders to see why there is such a big discrepency.

I also had my interview yesterday (Friday 4/16) in Gainesville and within an hour and a half from leaving the building I had an email from Penny saying:

So did everyone else who got an "official" acceptance letter get this "unofficial" one before? I was surprised when they said it would take days to hear back...but hours was pretty shocking.

Congrats to all the acceptances! 😀
