if u have decent gpa n toefl then, i would recommend applying right away, their 2011 cycle has already started n if u apply early n do well on I/V u might have a chance n ya meanwhile u can start preparing for part1 if u r eligible for retaking , hope this is helpful.

what is their criteria about selection? weather they put more pressure on score& GPA or experience?

I have same nbde part 1 score 83,GPA 2.55, almost 10 yrs of experience in home country,and 1 yr experience as a dental assistant in US.US citizen
So, I am very confused about applying over there.. any suggestion will be appreciated.

hmmnnn....when did u take your part1?To be honest,your GPA and part1 seems to be low. Did u ever plan to retake your part1 ever in order to improve your score?I know it is not possible to retake anymore..and you can't improve your GPA too....! I don't know what are the min.requirements for UIC though....good luck!

I know my GPA & NBDE part 1 are low,thats why I have to suffer more!!
I took my part 1 in 2006,I paid fee for that before Dec 09 and plan to take this year.

YA sure u have very decent stats like i said apply right away but i dunno abt their TOEFL requirement u might want to check that

they do have a minimum requirement for toefl. Its 80 in toefl ibt.

they do have a minimum requirement for toefl. Its 80 in toefl ibt.

thank u for ur reply so if they say minimum 80 that means thay accept someone in 80s or below 90s bec i have 86
or u know someone got acceptance with toefl in 80s

Go ahead and apply as soon as possible, you have a very good chance as UIC looks for overall profile and you have a solid experience of 6 years in the US.

it depends on so many things u know, its a personal choice, i cant tell u much abt it but wht I know for sure is this that what u have for sure is better than wht u might get...but on the other hand if i were u n i was living in chicago then i might have waited for UIC n ur stats r almost exactly like mine n if u do well on I/V u have a huge chance of getting in, but there is a huge may be attached with this as for Buffalo u have a sure seat there...just look at your situation n take a decision ...hope it helps

i think u should apply and see.....becos UIC doesnt mention any cut-off score for nbde part1.eligibility for applying requires just a passing score in nbde part 1 as of given in requirements...
so,i feel u shud apply.......

hello all
I was interviewed for UIC 2010 program few months back.Yesterday I got a call telling me that there was an opening and they are offering me a position for the class beginning in 2010. And even though this is the best news I have heard in a long time, I am quite stressed because the program begins next week. That means I have to move to chicago, figure out loans , find a place to live etc before that.
For the people who are going to begin the program, if any of you can help me out with housing that would be great.
1] are most of you staying on campus or in a a shared apartment?
2] can any of you please suggest to me what is a better option. I prefer to live as close to the school as possible because I am not familiar with chicago.
I am a female and will be moving to chicago by myself [not with family].
If any one of you are looking for roommates [female] please send me a pm with the details. I really look fwd to yr help.

I am in the same boat with you. My TOEFL was nov 2008, I am scheduled to take the TOEFL again on June 12th... I am very worry if I won't make it before the deadline.

For toefl to enter the school code its a three step procedure. After u enter the school code the next drop down box is for undergrad or grad..once u enter grad the next drop down box opens which gives u an option for all the fields... just enter dentistry under that and u are done.
Toefl uses generic school code entry so that it is compatible with undergrad and grad. Dont sweat it out... just enter graduate and go on ahead with that.
all schools have different curriculum which require the toefl as a requirement so they just do this to segregate so that ur score doesnt end up in the wrong dept.
