that's great, medchef! Im really trying to hold out for UMass (for financial reasons) but I would be psyched to be at Tufts. Have you heard anything about your financial aid package? Im getting nervous.

I totally hear you about the finances. I would have loved to go to Umass, but I just can't wait on their waitlist again this summer for some personal reasons.

I have not heard anything about Tufts financial aid, and I had everything in fairly early (I was accepted in December). I called the school and they informed me that I have not been "packaged" yet.

how on earth did you guys get everything in so fast for fin aid? there isn't a single year where my parents don't file for an extension on their taxes....

This is a gentle reminder that this thread is for UMass. If you want to talk about Tufts, please start a new thread or PM each other. Thanks!

heh, i was gonna mention in my last post that we tufts people had accidentally highjacked the UMass thread but then forgot.

good luck to all of you :luck:

is anyone else still waiting to hear from UMASS one way or another? do you think they are sending out any more waitlist letters or is it too late? thanks!!

still waiting too

worst part is, i just learned that a few pieces of mail ( a magazine, newspaper and a music CD i ordered) were not delivered. the magazine was returned with a note saying wrong address!

so now im paranoid, but i figure it gives me a legit excuse to contact them and ask for an update. 🙄

Im still waiting too. This is getting ridiculous. I feel badly contacting Brenda to make sure nothing has gotten lost in the mail, but at this point that seems like a possibility!! I mean, it's gettin' kinda late in the game.... Im sure she is totally sick of hearing from people like us who are still waiting.

But it comes with the territory of her job, too. If you're nice, I'm sure she'll understand. I haven't heard anything either...very depressing! If anyone hears news or calls, please fill the rest of us in.

I called this morning and it sounds like we should all be hearing within the next week or two, waitlist or rejection. The window for optimism seems to be running out in my opinion if they save all the rejections to send out last.

Thanks for letting us know. This is quite nervewracking!

realistically, does anyone think waitlist notices are still going out or do we think that we're all screwed?

I believe some people will still get waitlist letters. It's just hard to know where on the waitlist a person could be at this stage - it seems random.

It's getting down to it, but I truly think that there are some spaces left. I'm betting that we aren't going to hear about them before the 15th though....that's my two cents.

here's hoping you're right about that...maybe enough spots for all of us here...that would be nice

I know that a few people on this forum have gotten waitlist letters. Have any of you been admitted?

Waitlisted Last year to PHd/MD as out of state.

interviewed in late april this year (after a longish & thurough process of documentation for instate status )

just waitlisted 🙂 informed via snail mail to Amherst. I don't have the letter in hand, (someone opened it for me and read me the letter over the phone) so I don't know the date on the letter itself.

anyway it's not over yet.

good luck all

Yesterday, sorry if that was not clear

Did you check the UMASS website after you got your letter? Did your status change or does it still say, 'you have no application etc etc.'?

Thanks!

Well - I guess that deserves a semi-congratulations!! ??
🙂

That DEFINITELY deserves a congratulations.... SO, CONGRATULATIONS!!

I just got a waitlist letter and I live in the Midwest, it was postmarked April 28. Does anyone know how many people they take off the waitlist? I'm thinking not that many since they are all in-state...

I think it is around 50-60 off the waitlist because they cant have more an 100 acceptances out at any one time.

anybody get anything in the boston area today or yesterday?

Nothing in Boston today or yesterday. At this point I think I would rather receive a rejection just to have some closure on the matter. This wait is absurd.

Apparently UMASS heard my request. I received the thin envelope in Boston today. Oh well....Good luck to everyone else.

I got a waitlist letter monday, postmarked April 28th. I live in Boston. I interviewed in mid-March. My online status has not changed.

was it a rejection letter? this process is the worst!

Has anybody got rejected post-interview? I know the last thing you want to do at this point is post to a umass forum (and you probably would not be looking at a umass forum either) if so, but it would help all of us waiting to have some idea what is going on right now. thanks...

It's gotten to the point where I'm almost afraid to read new posts in this thread to see what's going on. I'm still waiting in Worcester.

Well, I got a rejection letter today in the mail... so that's that. Best of luck to everyone else!

I'm officially terrified of checking the mail when I get home today.

so, if we haven't heard yet, does that now mean rejection? Is that the way UMASS does this, or will waitlist spots still be offered among the rejections? Anybody know?

I really really hope a few waitlist spots are still there for the taking, but realistically I think we may be dead in the water.

sigh. i guess i will be expecting the rejection soon.

in any event, it has been a pleasure riding the roller coaster of anguish with you guys. every day, i sign on to student doctor forums hoping that "Umass" is in bold, and that one of you lovely people has posted something. thanks for the support, and good luck everyone 🙂

My fingers are crossed for you all!!!

Triple gulp. I'm around the Boston area, so I'll probably be receiving mine soon. Best of luck to everyone.

Well, for those of you dying to get in to UMass b/c it's sooooooooo cheap, here's some news for you. I got my finaid today and recieved $39,000 in loans. Yes, $39,000. No grants. This makes the private school I got into less than $10,000 per year more expensive.

Dear UMass finaid:
My mother makes $30somethingthousand per year after taxes. No, she can't afford a $21,000 family contribution. Get a f*ckin clue.

Ugh.

Well I'm out. Got the rejection today. My first post-interview, and I'm only waiting to hear from Tufts still. I also haven't gotten in anywhere, just waitlisted at 3. I have to say I am utterly baffled at their decision based on the shower of complements I received from my interviewer way back in September. Contrary to popular belief, early interviews mean crap. I wish everyone the best of luck.

rejected today as well, at least i'm finally out of the waiting misery...i will most likely be going to tufts, but i also wish good luck to all of you massachusetts future docs.

Oh Man,

I'm away all week... actually interview at Rosalind Franklin tomorrow. my roomate said there was a letter for me but he didn't say from where...

stress.... level increasing! :scared: :scared:

I'm out as well.

I wonder if McDonalds is hiring?

Wow I am so depressed that everyone's getting rejected now! I really figured there'd be a bunch of wait list letters and soon after some acceptances off the list...! Good luck to everyone that will be going elsewhere this year! Hang in there, to those that are still hanging on for some better news elsewhere!
