I think it was the 15th of Aug. but my file was not complete until Sept. 12th. my last LOR was delayed

Yes its just that sometimes they call some people from an application group and not others. If you look back on page 3(or maybe it was page 2) of the class of 2010 thread you can see that someone posted that they got a call on a tuesday after they met and I didnt, but i got a letter in the mail that wednesday. So it seems to be very random to me.

hm. well truthfully, i'm glad to hear that because i didn't get a phone call on friday. so having some hope here.

i interviewed on 9/21 and I didn't hear back from them yet either.

haha wasn't too worried until i heard that people got phone calls on friday! but yes, hoping for the best.

i just checked my call log and i got the phone call at 4:35pm. it lasted for at least 5 minutes because they were telling me some admin things. so i'm sure they didn't get to even half of the people before the end of the workday. so don't worry! :luck:

on my interview day they said nothing about a phone call either. they only told us that they would be sending letters early in the week after sept. 29th.

also keep in mind that monday is a jewish holiday.

had my interview there earlier and didn't get a phone call either. But like everyone said, they met on friday. From what I hear though, they do call most people that day. So, i'm definately worried now.
 
Do you think that being an OSS and having an interview on Nov. 7th is a big disadvantage, I know they only accept a few OSS I believe I am a good candidate but I'm worried that my interview is too late in the game?? What do people who have been through this process think???
 
How long does it take for UMDNJ-COM to get back to you after your interview to let you know weather or not you were accepted???

ok, this is a little confusing, but they accept a ton of OOS students. The reason their in-state percentage is so high (95%-100%) is that they allow everyone to become instate before the start of classes as long you have an apartment lease and a NJ driving license (which you can get with your apt lease)

Ok, well as far as being an OSS, don't worry. I'm from IL, had my interview in March, and got accepted right away. If you've already gotten an interview, you're in pretty good shape.
The adcom meets every month i think. so it doesn't take too long to get an answer. Of course if your interview is right after one of their meetings, it'll take a few weeks, since you'd have to wait til they meet again.
In my case, I interviewed on a Tuesday, the adcom met the following monday, and I got a phone call on the wednesday from Paula Watkins.
So everyone who's worried that they didnt get a phone call yet, try not to stress...mine didn't come until a couple days after their meeting. plus i know there were some people who didnt get a call, and just got the acceptance packet.

I'm off to study now!
 
How does UMDNJ go about offering interviews? Email? Snail mail?

Yeah thank you for clearing this up, but now this means since my interview is Oct. 5th that I'm gonna have to wait till the end of Oct. to find out or not...

oh. well i had my interview last week and they sent me an email like the week before hand and then the paper copy came in the mail.

I'm not really sure exactly when the adcom meets. They will tell you at your interview though so you'll know how long it will be... and if they don't tell you, just ask 🙂
 
i interviewed earlier too, didn't hear anything yet today...:scared:

haha i feel like we're all just sitting by the phone waiting. oh well. but goodluck everyone and i'm not at home so i have no idea if a phone call came or not.
 
still waiting for that phone call... I'm not starting to worry yet.. OK, maybe a little. 🙁

got an email and then a hard copy came snail mail.

BigfatK got a phone call for acceptance, but that seems to be UMDNJ's deal, they either call, write, or email, I guess it depends on whoever the messenger is.

oh, I see, well I think bigfatk found out about herinterview by email. besides, there is an 80% chance of acceptance, and so far she seems to be the only acceptance, so Im sure they are going ot contact more of the already interviewed

My interview isn't even until tomorrow, and you already got me nervous about when there going to contact me...

Goodluck!!! 🙂 Just relax, don't be nervous. The interviewers basically sit down with you and tell you that they're there to present the strongest case for you at the committee meeting so they just want to get to know you.

So answer the questions, and then at the end ask questions about the school, matchign process, research if need be.

anybody know any specifics I can use during my interview about UMDNJSOM. Their website is lacking in information.

I predict with your number you will get in, no prob. Don't worry about it, everyone is friendly and the interview is a breeze. And as far as I know 😉 they will call you within about 2 weeks of the interview.
 
I must say only one person posting an acceptance to UMDNJ-SOM so far is not to reassuring about this 80% acceptance thing.

I guess you could think about it that way, but SDN is a limited population and I do not think they have interiewed that many people yet. Give it some time.

yeah I know, just can't help the anxiety, had my interview Thursday, and we have to wait till the 20th for the adcom to meet. And obsessively logging on to SDN does not make the time go by faster.....
 
I had my interview on thursday as well... basically it is open file with two interviewers... my experience was they were both really nice and really want you to show what is on the paper infront of them. They know your grades, they know your test scores, they know your activities, volunteering, research, and clinical work. What they want to know is if your personality will fit in their family.

It is the weekend, for some, a long weekend, enjoy it! If worrying would make the time go faster, half of us would be suffering from high blood pressure. They say that time passes when you're having fun. 🙂 Hope you hear great news in the near future.
