Hi! Congrats on getting an unconditional acceptance offer!
If you haven't taken a peak at the 2027 Unimelb thread that might be a good place to start.
I am going into my third year at Unimelb and I am an international student from North America originally also. Whether or not you wait to hear back from US schools is very tricky. I started at Melbourne in February 2022 and then I heard I got accepted to a US program in late March/early April. For the rest of my life, I will always wonder how different it would it have been to decline my Melbourne spot and risk it for a US seat somewhere. However, I am happy with my decision overall because there was too much risk of not getting in, if I declined my Melbourne spot. Ultimately, it is a different decision based on many factors for everyone that applied outside the US/Canada and the risk of not getting in might be a risk you are more willing to take.
In terms of the Unimelb program itself: We are still on probationary accreditation, but our teaching hospital has reopened as a corporate clinic leased from the university and lots of specialists are coming back. We were supposed to get an update on accreditation last October, but we haven't heard anything back yet. We don't know if that is a good or bad sign yet. Everyone is pretty confident we will get full AVMA accreditation, but that is still to be determined. If you want the latest information, I would recommend emailing the accreditation boards directly.
I'm not on here much, but let me know if you have any questions and I will try to answer them as best I can.
