Who else has an interview Dec. 2nd? Ideas? Thoughts? Suggestions?

This is my 2nd time through the interview process, I applied right out of undergrad, but was unable to attend. It was 5 years ago, however. so I am definately nervous. Is everyone else right out of undergrad?

No, undergrad was a year and a half ago for me, and yes, I also have an interview on December 2

What have you done since undergrad? Were you always considering pt? Where are you from?

Yes, I was always considering PT, and since undergrad I've replaced the two C's I had in my pre-req courses that I didn't get to replace while I was still in school which brings up my pre-req GPA to around 3.45 or so. I'm from Florida and St. Augustine is only about 2 hours away from me.

I also have an interview at the San Marcos campus on December 2nd, in hopes to start in May 2012 for a DPT. I am not right out of undergrad by any means, nearly 10 years now.

I am very hopeful but don't know what to expect for the essay they want us to write. Anyone have thoughts?

msw3030: When you interviewed before, did you get in and chose to not attend? I am yet to hear of anyone that had an interview and didn't get an offer for admission. Any feedback?

I am coming from Washington State, where is everyone else from?

I look forward to meeting everyone!!

I am applying in St. Augustine, however I did apply, was at first put on a waiting list, and then accepted. I could not attend, and unfortunately had to decline the acceptance. (that was right out of undergrad)

I am now 5+ years out of undergrad, and am reapplying for May 2012. What have you all done job-wise since graduation? In our out of the PT field? I am also from FL.

I was accepted for this January 2012 term. My essay question was "What are the advantages and disadvantages of our healthcare system?"

They also asked a few "tough" questions in the interview, i.e.: talk about a current issue, whether it be political or otherwise, that involves the therapy industry to which you are particularly interested in. And "what are the main differences in PT vs OT vs SpT vs PA etc. that brought you here today?"

Does everyone get the same essay topic?

What did you write about for that essay question? I hope I get another one! tough!

The email I got state that the topic would be about "health or profession issues". To me that suggests more than one topic or that they have yet to decide.

DPoinT's post prompted me to dig a little deeper. You should really get up on your knowledge of current issues in physical therapy and health care reform. They want to know if you are seeing the big picture, beyond the clinical application. A little time on the internet and you will see a larger set of issues that go beyond the classroom. Google "direct access", it is a good place to start. The APTA website has some good pod casts too.

I'm currently in my first semester at USA in San Marcos and if the interviews were anything like they were when I was there in February they'll have an essay and it can range from anything from how you candle stress, which I got to health care issues. My interview was probably the hardest one out of all my friends in the program. All of them had easy questions like the type of person they are and how they work in groups. For my personal interview I was asked issues on POPTS, direct access, Medicare, Vision 2020, etc and the basic questions of how I work in groups and handle stress and what not. Hope the helps. Looking on these forums definitely helped me in my interview process. If you search, someone posted interview questions from a few years back but they are pretty similar. Good luck and hope to see you guys in May!

Not everyone gets the same essay question. The interview process was a little chaotic. There were probably 125-150 applicants there and we were split into three groups. Per your group, you either went on a tour, did the essay, or did the interview, and rotated through these three. The interview was conducted by quite a few different people including professors of SA, recruiters, and program directors. So it really depended on who you get as your interviewer. After talking with other applicants, everyone's questions are different. Likewise, the essay questions are all different as well.

Can you believe how soon our interview is?!? I am doing some last minute research online... on possible interview/essay questions.

Anyone have any other ideas for current political issues in PT? I have vision 2020, popts, insurance issues, what am I forgetting?

Any last minute advice? I am interviewing in St. Augustine on Friday... any clue how many of us there are this time around?

Lastly, can any current students explain to me how the loan programs have changed for USA? Are they all private loans now? Difficulties getting the loans? Is it enough to live off of, as I am 5+ years out of undergrad with bills and commitments... just a little worried how I will make it all work.

Thanks guys, LOVE this forum, so glad I found it!

It went really well! I hope we hear back sooner than 3 weeks!

Good!! I heard back exactly 11 days after my interview with a phone call. Good luck!!

I thought the interview went well too, but I am a little worried about my essay; not my best material. I'll have to say, though, I thought the school was smaller than I imagined; I'm not sure if that's a plus or minus, but I'm sure it'll cause us to have a pretty tight environment. Good luck to everyone!

Nailed it. I feel really good about my performance. See ya'll in May!

A facebook was created for San Marcos. "University of St. Augustine San Marcos May 2012"

Got word early Tuesday morning that I'm officially in at the San Marcos campus! Can't wait!

I made a facebook group, "University of St. Augustine (Florida) May 2012" 🙂

Did you actually start that facebook page? I'm in for the May class in St. Augustine and can't find it anywhere. Would love to meet some of you guys.

I tried to but it didn't work, no one could find it. There is another group that was made that I found. University of St. Augustine (Florida campus) summer 2012, that must be us.

This thread is a little old, but I thought some of you may check it occasionally. I read somewhere that the summer class is "easier" to get into than the fall class. Both my overall and prereq GPA are around 3.7-3.8 so I think I'm good either way, but I tend to get nervous about these things.
