Hey guys. I'm thinking about apply to University of Colorado as an early decision applicant. Before I do that I need to make sure it is the school I want to attend. Can you help me out by letting my know why you picked Colorado over other schools? If you are currently in the program what do you like or dislike about the school?

For starters: the school isnt in boulder, its in Denver at the Univ Health Sci Center.

Hey SuperS, which person were you?

(I was the tall fellow in the black and green suit.)

I was the older (33) female in pin stipe suit, hispanic. Are you from Colorado? I live here in Denver. Not very many guys interviewing. I don't think I remember you. But since it was 7 wks ago, I can barely remember. I spent most of my time trying to think of what I said and hoped it was charming enough, lol! Keep ur head up Summitguy.

Thanks Super! I appreciate that. It is hard to wait, that's all.

If you live in Colorado, it is hard to leave. I've lived all over the world, and I always come back to Colorado. The University is amazing, so much so that I applied to the Med program and the Pharm program just to ensure that I could use CU's rapidly expanding facilities. The pharmacy school is top notch, but very challenging; and job competition at the retail level will be tough now that Regis will be graduating a class every year. If you like research and clinical, CU is the place; if you want retail, you may find an easier path at another school. I applied early decision, and was accepted; it was nice to get a decision early. Got wait-listed at the medical school, and had to wait an agonizing 2 months to hear. GO CU class of 2015.

is there a facebook group for the UCDenver COP class of 2015? can somebody send me the link? should I make one?

Hey,

Yea im stuck pretty good here trying to make a decision. Straight up I like UCDenver's school/program/total package alot more than UTexas, UCDenver is just more expensive; $40,000 more expensive in tuition over four years. Not sure yet if what UCDenver offers is worth $40,000 more to me. It's tough to say. I also live in Austin, where UTexas is, so UTexas would be more practical in a sense as well...

Man, if I had a state school here with a pharmacy program, I'd be going there no doubt. In state tuition and proximity to home is sweet in my opinion. Your problem seems to be a good one haha. I'm not too familiar with UTexas, do they have a pretty good pharmacy program?

Just had my University of Montana interview. It went great! I am still hoping to hear from Colorado though. It's like a race right now.

I have heard a lot of people talk about the job shortage in Denver. Is that the same throughout Colorado? What about the other rocky mountain states? It seems surprising, because it is such a big area and has so few accredited pharmacy schools. Compare that to some of the states more towards the east, like Tennessee and Ohio, that have several schools in much smaller states. Then again, I guess there is a lot of transplants in the greater Colorado area. It's always been a dream of mine to move out west and I was hoping this degree would give me the opportunity to accomplish this dream. Of course, career comes first, and I will move anywhere to keep on path, but next on the list is moving into a home with a view of the rocky mountains. Congratulations to all of those who have received acceptances and best of luck to all those waiting (I am one of them). Just remember, keep positive. This is only one small step of the greater journey we are all embarking on!

My friend's cousin just graduated pharm school from somewhere in NY and easily got a job in Winter Park, CO. I'd be ok with living there!!! and I know a few pharmacists in Golden who say getting a job is easy. If you're ok with living in rural CO i'd say you're fine, especially if you're in the mountains (nothing better then hitting the slopes for a few hours on a tuesday!)

Hey Megandupe, I just got that email you mentioned. I am guessing that means I got in, since this is the only school I applied to that uses it. 🙂

What e-mail is this? I got an acceptance e-mail but no background check email yet....

I myself got a criminal background check email but havent received any sort of acceptance, unfortunately a lot of schools I applied to uses this service so I cant say definantly if UC-Denver was the school who prompt the check.

I've also gotten my acceptance email, acceptance packet, have paid my deposit and the school received it, but I still haven't gotten the background check email yet either.

I received my acceptance email Thursday afternoon, my background screening Friday afternoon and my packet in the mail today. Also just realized I have to get some shots. Ugh! Is anyone else realizing that we still have a lot to do before we can finally start? Lol

They give out a packet, is it big? whats in it?

I received my acceptance email and packet on March 14th, but no background screening email yet.

The packet contains your letter of intent, your acceptance letter like you would receive in the email, 3 pages of residency forms you need to fill out and immunization forms that need to be filled out and signed by a health care professional. The immunization form is actually depressing because I also found out I need to get some shots😱 gross. And yes, we have a lot of stuff to fill out, but I would much rather be filling all of this out than not getting accepted 👍

No,not really a packet. An envelope with the welcome letter listing everything we need to send in- then the sheets for everything - residency form, acceptance form, immunization form, and student info form. It's in a regular envelope, just thick.

I was nervous until I received it because the email just stated dear applicant but the letter is addressed to me. Woo-hoo!

Definitely okay with having to fill it all and then able to start in the fall!😀

I really hope that the background check is from UC-Denver because I really liked the school and city and if I had to rank it it would be my 1st or 2nd choice. Its just weird because it looks like I have been accepted to pharm school but I just dont know where yet lol.

I love UC Denver too and it looks like I'm picking it over Minnesota. And hey, look at the bright side, you were accepted to pharmacy school!! Congrats!

I'm from North Dakota actually and did my undergrad in North Dakota as well. I'm definitely ready to experience something different. Where are you from and where'd you do your undergrad??

It is so weird how different things happen for them. I didn't get an email but I got an acceptance packet that was in a large (paper size) envelope back in mid-February.

How does UC Denver's program stack up to Minnesota's? I was thinking of applying there but didn't end up doing it b/c I already had applied to so many schools lol.

Well if you look at rankings, Minnesota is ranked 3rd in the nation compared to 23rd/24th that Colorado is ranked (however, those rankings were from 2008). I really liked Minnesota's program and that their focus was patient care and MTM. However, they don't let you claim residency unless you live there for a year WITHOUT being in school, so tuition was A LOT in Minnesota. I love UC Denver's medical campus and that it's all brand new and amazing. Also, being able to claim residency after is year is what really pushed me to UC Denver. They both have good programs, but I think I like what UC Denver has to offer a little bit more 🙂

I'm really interested in getting in MTM and I know it's not so big in Colorado but I'm hoping that its something that I can focus on. I'm from Colorado- with a house, husband and kids, so I can't really just pack up and move to go to another school. I asked my interviewer about it and he said that the future lies in MTM because of all the money it saves. We'll see how it goes

I am just I am not crying wolf with the background check email. I think it is a state thing. I am out of state so perhaps that is why they are doing a check? It's nice to know I am accepted though, I mean, they wouldn't say I was conditionally accepted if I wasn't.

No everyone should be getting a background check because it is required for Colorado state intern license. I live in Colorado and I got that email friday afternoon. I think it states conditionally accepted until the background check comes back clear, and the pre-reqs are finished

Well I am just hoping I get the official email and packet soon. Can't do a lot without that stuff! Now to get cracking on FAFSA... *puts a bottle of naproxen next to laptop* There, I am ready now.

Lol I filled that out almost a month ago- just sent it to both schools in case I didn't get into UCD. Hey- if you go to the financial aid site for UCD they also have this new thing called need access that helps look for grants and other help. There is a $28 fee but if it finds you something it'll totally be worth it.

If it makes the process easier, 28 dollars is a small price to pay.
Just got my letter today! Woohoo!

I tried looking for this a little bit last night but couldn't find it. Can you copy the link? Maybe I just looked over it!

So have all the seats been filled? Has anyone heard anything about the wait list? Just wondering since I interviewed back on 1/28.

I received an invitation for an interview on apil 8 out of the blue. does anyone else have interviews this late? I thought that they were going to send out rejection letters the first week of april, so I'm just a bit confused.

Hm that is a bit strange, but if they sent you an interview invitation they must be interested. Just curious, what are your stats for GPA and PCAT if you don't mind me asking? And are you a CO resident?

I agree- that is a little weird. I had my interview on March 11 and they made a big deal about it being the last interview date for this application cycle... Even stating that if people couldn't make this date to interview that their application would be withdrawn.

I have a 3.8 GPA with dual degrees. However, I had a composite PCAT score of 51 🙁, and a Nevada resident.

Hm, only thing I can think of would be they originally didn't invite you for an interview b/c of your PCAT and then suddenly had a change of heart after looking at your app. again and liking the 3.8 dual degree part. Pretty strange that you got an interview so late, b/c like the person above me said, they stressed that march 11th was their last interview day. You should call them tomorrow to clarify what's going on. I doubt they made a mistake though and if they didn't, congrats on your interview!

I just got one today too, but not sure if I can make it...🙁

Does anyone know if there is a Facebook group for the class of 2015? I tried the link from a previous post but had no luck!

Hey guys! So I paid my deposit and everything for one of my schools and then I got asked for an interview here (which is weird because I thought they ended them) and I really liked this school but I'm hesitant with taking it for financial reasons since I already paid a deposit for another school(I'm from Florida so I'd have to fly up etc...) Can I get your input on the School? Have any of you heard anything about the professors from current students? Even the classes? Attendance? etc....
Thanks soo much!

I absolutely loved the school! The facilities are all pretty brand-new..I think all of it is maybe 3-4 years old max. I interviewed with Sam Ellis and I loved him. He made me feel very welcome. I actually got to know one of the second year students really well after I met her at my interview and she has told me so many good things about the school. From what she has said, your first semester is pretty relaxed because there is a lot of material you have had before..like biochem, cell biology..etc. I met a few more professors on my tour and everyone was thrilled we were all there and offered great hospitality. I felt like I could definitely see myself there for the next four years. All the classes are recorded online so I guess you don't really have to go to class all the time but I do know that some professor take "attendance" once in awhile so you do have to go.

I was pretty impressed with the school from just reading about it but even more impressed when I got there. I have been disappointed in some schools I have interviewed at (Purdue) even though their rankings were really high. All of the students were really great and talked about a lot of opportunities to get involved in organizations, research..etc. I've had quite a few interviews and this was one of the better ones as far as hospitality is concerned.

I think you should definitely go! You don't want to regret something later!

I'm in the same boat as you. I paid a deposit, but I'd much rather go to school in Denver. I'm considering the deposit just like an insurance policy, the school is there if I need it.

For those of you who have been accepted, how long did it take them to get back to you?
