University of Florida c/o 2024 Applicants

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I’m interested to see the stats for this year. I bet a lot of people accepted their seats

To those not accepted, are you applying again? Does anyone have a backup plan if vet school doesn't work out? I am going to try again but I also want a backup plan.

i was debating if I should apply again but I have a strong feeling that the applicant pool will be even more competitive next year especially with the COVID19 situation. I made the decision to not take the risk as I do not want to end up back on a waitlist. I was accepted into two other programs this year so I am fortunate enough to attend a school. It is a more expensive school so that was difficult to come to terms with but I think everything happens for a reason. I’m excited to start in the fall.

A class can officially be "full" but if someone who accepted a seat at UF (or wherever, this isn't specific to UF) is just now offered a spot off of another school's wait list and decides to go to that other school over UF or decides vet med isn't for them or whatever, there could still be movement. It becomes much less likely to happen as you get closer and closer to the start of school, but you never know what will happen. It's not like UF won't fill a spot that suddenly comes available. They might not expect any more movement because they have had the full class number of acceptances so they inform the waitlist of that fact (probably partly so they stop getting inquiries), but things always change.

That’s a good point. They did say in their email that a couple students change their mind over the summer.
Thank you for the info!

Hi guys!
First year at UF CVM here. I was a waitlisted candidate last year and didn’t get an acceptance until the end of April. Don’t lose hope!

And to those that are the newest Gators, welcome! The class of 2023 is so excited to meet you soon 🙂 please message me if you have any questions!

I am not sure...I haven't specifically heard anyone say that they were one that got off the waitlist very late. That doesn't mean it doesn't happen! Sorry I don't have a better answer for you :/
