Got a rejection letter today (snail mail). Bummer. Good luck to everyone else!

Illinois responded already? I didn't think we would hear back till sometime in January

Last year they started rejections mid December.

I'm really sorry CB... and sorry to ask, but did your status page change..? I'm semi-expecting a rejection and sort of just want to know already so I can stop hoping...

i know you weren't talking to me, but no, there was no status change on the page.

I haven't checked yet, but I'll let you know in a bit...

No change. Still says "review in progress".

And for those still waiting, my letter said that the averages for applicants making it past the first phase this cycle are: Cum GPA - 3.57, Science GPA - 3.45, and GRE composite - 63%. My cumulative kept me out. Their loss :mooning:

Do you guys mind sharing your stats? I only ask because I am JUST above those averages. I'm not sure if I can handle another rejection in my toughest finals week yet. :/

My science (and last 45) is just over 3.5, gre composite about 65%, and cumulative gpa about 3.1. I have strong eLORS, essays, etc., but they never even got to them 🙁

Thanks for the reply. That's definitely the downside of looking at the numbers first. Hopefully you will get good news soon!

Thanks. Yeah, Illinois was the most "numbers first" school I applied to. I like their curriculum so it was worth a shot.

I am instate and I haven't heard anything yet.

So does anyone know if Illinois sends out the first rejections all at once or over a couple of weeks? Thanks!

Now I'm concerned that I'll get a letter sent to my school address over break and have no clue I was rejected until next year...

Stay positive guys! No more rejection talk (unless of course you were rejected and you want to vent. Vent away). I know we all do it to soften the blow if it does happen, but don't obsess over it happening. It'll be ok!

Does anyone know the dates of Illinois' interviews? Trying to plan ahead (fingers crossed) just in case...

Anyone else just get an email from admissions about fall transcripts? Not sure if it was a mass email sent to everyone, but I'm not taking any fall classes (nor did I list any for fall semester on VMCAS).

I did too... and did anyone notice that a full address isn't listed? I'm hoping they send out another...

I didn't get the email, and I did a prereq this Fall. What did it say?

Edit: nevermind, I just got it, truncated address and all

That's the address they have me when I called!

I got the email but also did not take/list that I was taking any classes so I guess it was a mass email. Guess that means we're still in the running?

I too got one of those e-mails.....I'm taking it as a good sign.....it kind of made me over excited, as I didn't get a rejection letter yet either....Part of me hates to ask, I feel like its a little rude, but I have to know....has anyone who got a rejection letter gotten this e-mail?

I would certainly hope that the school removed the rejected applicants from the email list for sensitivity's sake. I'm driving back to school tomorrow for work/to check my mailbox and hopefully find it empty.

I am wondering the same thing... Though, I am not celebrating yet. I currently live in Germany and so since I found out that some people got rejection letters last week, I have been checking the mail pretty much every day (my mailbox is not walking distance) expecting a rejection letter to be sitting there. So far nothing. Because I live in Germany I'm making travel plans to the states already so was hoping I'd get the rejection letter so I could finally schedule my flights for my other interviews and book my hotels. Anyway, since I hadn't received anything, I decided to email admissions to ask if they had a set interview date, they said the only day they are having interviews is February 10, 2014 and that they are hoping to send out interview invites as well as denial letters in early January. So at least I wasn't automatically rejected but I'm not out in the clear yet.

Will they send interview invites via email or just regular mail? I'm home from school for winter break, and I think I gave them my school address to send mail to. Whoops....

They called them "invitation to interview letters" and "denial letters" to be "out the first part of January" so it sounds like they're actually paper letters and not emails, but then again that's just reading into what they responded to me so they could may as well be emails for either of the letters. It's hard to say. In your case, I would email them and ask them directly so that you don't miss any potential mail from them.

Last year (and every year before), they sent paper everything (interview invites, acceptances, etc.) via snail mail. I received my interview invite on Monday, Jan. 7th last year. 🙂

Is the wait/anticipation killing anyone else?..... :arghh::xf:
Even though I know we won't be hearing until after the first of the year I still check my email constantly and I think the mailman is starting to get concerned 🙂 lol

The wait is the worst! Hang tight. I did not get an interview letter from Illinois until really late december/early January I believe. They won't have their interviews until February

Hi all! Has anyone heard back yet since mid-December?

I didn't get my interview letter until around January 15th last year and I was out of state. Interviews are scheduled for February 10th this year.

Thanks for the info!!

I called the admissions office this morning to find out when we might hear about interviews (I actually need to know for work and I'm also a crazy person haha). The woman told me that the committee met yesterday and the letters are being printed out today. She said the letters should be mailed tomorrow and they are hoping to have our portals updated this weekend. EEEEKKK!
