Thanks everyone for the input! Finally got my status in my portal changed and my interview is at 4:30-5 ._. Unfortunate for me because I'm one of those people who wants to get it done!

Totally with you on that. Sorry it ended up being so late 🙁. I like to get it done, otherwise I'm jittery all day!

Mine's at 10! Ahh I feel like it just got real!

So jealous of the morning interview people! Mine's not until 1pm and I'll be nervous all morning!

Mine is at 9 AM! So early, but happy to get it over with before the other events.

Does anyone know if there will be a lunch provided? The interview day schedule doesn't mention anything about that, which is a little weird because all the other schools I'm interviewing at have a catered lunch. If no one has interviews from 12-1, maybe that's when everyone takes a lunch break?

Breakfast foods will be provided.

I feel really lucky now to have gotten the 11:00 slot! Especially when I will have a 9 hour drive ahead of me!

Mine's at 2:30. I was looking at the schedule and noticed there are a ton of breaks with down time during the day. Does anyone know if those of us with afternoon interviews have to be there early in the morning for the registration or can we wait until 11am when the first session is? That would be really helpful in deciding if I need to get a hotel or if I could just drive both ways that day.

I believe the interview day page said we have to register half an hour before your interview. Can someone with an actual computer confirm this?

I might be missing it but I don't see that on the interview day page.

Couldn't find it on the "interview day" website but there's this on the interview invitation email they sent us:

Please register no less than thirty minutes prior to your interview at the main entrance of the Veterinary Medicine Basic Sciences Building (2001 South Lincoln Avenue). -this is all I found though.

I got an invite too!!

Question for you all,

I'm flying in to my home town in the 8th from another interview, but I don't get in until late that evening, so I;ll have to drive that night. Its not that big of a deal, except I'm worried that if flights are delayed/Cancelled due to weather, that I may not make it to Illinois.... if that happens does anyone know if they have any sort of "make up" day, or anything like that?

Thanks

This didn't happen to me, but I remember chatting with an admissions office person after interview day and she said they still had a few interviews to conduct due to weather problems, sudden deaths in the family, etc. So I guess if your flight is delayed or whatever call them right away. Sounded like they're pretty understanding about stuff that's outside your control.

To peeps with afternoon interviews,
If you intend to attend the 11am info session, be there and near the room prior to 11. Last year the room over filled and some of us couldn't get in, and if you have your interview at 2 or 2:30 that 2pm session doesn't do you much good. On that note, if you have supporters (family, etc) coming with you, kindly ask them to refrain from taking up seats in the sessions until your fellow interviewees are there. There were a bunch of us standing squished in the back trying to see over and around all the parents. You can always relay the info to them if they're interested. Just my two cents.

I wish everyone best of luck on your interviews!

That's what I was thinking of. I have work in the morning so I don't intend on getting to the school until noon.

I plan on bringing a protein bar or something! My hotel has a hot breakfast, but I get HANGRY around 11AM haha

Mine's at 11-11:30, too. Group interview? :diebanana: lol jk
But I do think we are both a wildlife emphasis?

Haha that would be something else, but yes I am definitely there for the wildlife emphasis! Bears are my passion:panda: :bear:

This all sounds adorable and super awesome! The cutest thing I've ever been a part of is treating young calves who love to suckle fingers!

That really isn't much different for me, except I have white tailed deer trying to suckle my ears -_-

Haven't worked with cheetahs but my very first day as a vet tech involved doing a checkup on a panther cub. The zoo left it with us the entire day so we all spent our lunch hour with it in a treatment room letting it jump all over us and nibble on our fingers. Best. Day. Ever! It's probably the reason I chose to do exotics/zoo/wildlife. 😛

Has anyone had their portal updated to show they had received your Fall transcripts? I sent mine on the 12th and still no update.

Yes, I sent mine in mid-December and the portal reflected they were received within a week, then a few more days before they were evaluated. Yours should change soon too, though it might take a few days longer than it did in December because the office is probably busier now.

I sent mine in around the 12th and my portal was updated late last week. Received but not yet evaluated

Sent mine the 12th too and still no update. I'm going to call them tomorrow to check just in case my registrar didn't send them.

UPDATE: Just called them. They have a large stack of transcripts that have yet to be sorted. She was able to find mine in the stack, so if you sent yours in around the 12th it's probably there. She said they should be finished updating portals by tonight/tomorrow. If you sent yours in after that it may take a little longer.

I sent mine on the 14th and it was already updated on the portal.

I ordered my transcripts to be sent on January 8th (the day I got my invite) and my university just told me today that they be sent today -.- Basically, Georgia is trying to **** me over, so hopefully I get into UGA as a sort of backup...

If push comes to shove, I would pick up the envelope from the desk and mail it myself. 8 days should be enough time from UGA to IL. Otherwise...might be time to call IL and explain the situation. >__<

You can't actually do that because it's no longer considered official if you mail them to yourself. I did that so I could mail the form in with my transcripts and even though I didn't open the original envelope, VMCAS refused to count those transcripts as official and I had to send them another one.

I thought if you opened the envelope it would be considered unofficial transcripts but if they received the envelope intact then it is still official. I could be wrong.

I called them about my transcripts and they said that they have been received and reviewed and that my portal should be updated but it still isn't -.-

Ummm what? I've been doing this the entire application cycle and mine have been treated as official by everyone. I have the school mail them to me, then I stick that envelope into a 2day USPS envelope and send it with tracking so that I can be 100% sure it arrived in time. VMCAS as well as 3 of the schools I've had to send fall transcripts to have been accepting this just fine.

I was under this impression as well, based on what I had read on all the admissions PDFs and VMCAS rules and whatnot. As long as it's sealed, it's official.

Weird that Felixor and CloverBug had different experiences with that
