Does anyone have any good resources they can share to help me prepare for the interview? I'm not as familiar or comfortable with behavioral interviews since most I've done have been MMI style.
I did the 50 questions they had posted on the website but I found I was using alot of the same experiences for the questions. I have alot of examples/experiences from working as a tech that fit, but would me using tech experiences for multiple questions be a problem or is it not diverse enough? Any input is appreciated!
The U of M pre-health resources center has some tips and an online workshop if that's helpful! Here is a link to the page with the workshop. Interviewing for a Health Program | Pre-Health Student Resource Center. You shouldn't have to be a U of M student to do it.
Here is another link that includes a recorded powerpoint for interview prep. Information Sessions & Workshops | Pre-Health Student Resource Center If you go under the calendar and expand the interviewing prep workshops tab you can find the link.
I hope that helps! Good luck with your interview!

Wow this is actually super helpful! 😭 Thank you so much!!

Did anyone else attend the info session tonight? Everything they said just makes me want to go to this school more and more!!!
Same, I'm loving this school more and more every time I interact with their staff & students. Excited for my interview this week, and it sounds like we'll get some decisions sooner than plenty of other schools!

Just finished my interview! Did anyone else have interviewers that wanted very specific examples or was it just me? Typically when i answer situation questions I give a broad answer over a few of my experience but they wanted like one specific example and no others?

Yep! My interviewers also wanted a specific example.

they asked two get to know you and 8 scenario questions. Mine lasted a little over an hour.

Thanks so much for the info! Idk if you’re able to say, but were the scenario questions more like an MMI (imagine you are a vet and XYZ happens, what do you do?) or did they ask you about past experiences (tell me about a time when XYZ happened...)?

They were all behavioral questions: tell me about a time when xyz. And then, there are follow up questions once you give your answer. My interviewers were very nice and conversational so don't stress yourself out too much but definitely have some experiences in mind that you can use to answer that style of questions. They were also understanding of me having to take a minute to think about a great example to answer their question.

Can anyone tell me if I'm going crazy, in my calendar it says tonight UMN virtual tour at 7pm. But I havent gotten any emails from them today about it, I got one yesterday about a Q&A panel. Now I'm worried I may have put the wrong date in my calendar for the wrong informational session. Did anyone else sign up for something tonight? 😂

It is on the student ambassador calendar. I'll PM you the Zoom link.

For those who have interviewed already, did you find that it was easy to think of a great experience to answer the behavioral question? I have gathered a bunch of experiences in a list that I hope will be able to apply to the questions but I can't help from feeling super nervous🙁 Any advice or tips on how to better prepare would be much appreciated and good luck to everyone who has interviews coming up!

I practiced going over the experiences many times and rehearsing it and that helped. They emphasize that its ok to take some time to think of a experience if you happen to blank out. I think just acknowledging that your nervous and taking a deep breath really helped me. Goodluck!

I interviewed this afternoon and am feeling great about it. It is significantly longer than any of my other interviews - 1h for 10 questions, and they answered 3 of my questions with another 15min or so. It was very conversational, both of the interviewers were very responsive and gave positive feedbacks all the time. I didn't specifically prepare examples, but reviewed my experiences pretty thoroughly. It was a closed file interview, so you're free to draw example from any part of your experience you'd like to highlight!

The more specific of an example you give in your answer, the more it helps us to evaluate you. Be as specific as you can!

We really want you guys to succeed and do well! Don't hesitate to take a moment to gather your thoughts before answering. I promise the silence isn't awkward, even if it feels that way to you.

Just recieved this! We have a date!

Decisions are coming out next week! How did everyone do? Is this anyone's top choice?

I honestly feel like this school has moved up on my list (my IS is still my top choice because of tuition). But I found the different info / Q&A sessions very helpful and they made me excited about this school.

I’m nervous for decisions 😫 I felt like my interview went okay. I thought some of the questions were a little challenging to answer and I had a hard time coming up with a relevant example. But I believe I was as genuine as I could be throughout the interview, so hopefully that bodes well for me! 😅

Sometimes we can be more harsh on ourselves. Besides it's 1/3 of the score. If you did avg and had excellent grades and experiences you'll be fine 🙂

What's your IS school?

That's so true! Thanks! 🙂
My IS is UGA, so I'm also waiting to hear back from them later this month!

Who else is dying for it to be “mid-to-late week” to get our decisions?? I know that probably means tomorrow at the earliest, but my brain is also out here trying to convince me that Tuesday is mid-week lol 😂
Im on high alert at all times and keep checking my phone.. I feel like I’m going to sprout so many grey hairs just from the anxiety of waiting... i want Tuesday to be mid week too.

I am seriously useless at work today, just frantically checking calls & emails & the forums over here. PUT ME OUT OF MY MISERY. I am THIS CLOSE to giving my boss my phone for the afternoon

For reference, I recieved my call at 3:11pm EST and my last name starts with P. Fingers crossed for you!
Thanks I think they probably finished calling. Since it was an hr ago. Hopefully I get waitlisted or something

It's only 3:00 here, I highly doubt they're done. Crossing my fingers for you!
