University of New England Application Thread

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Thats is my problem as well, low PCAT(b/c of reading and verbal) so dont worry keep your head up. I know how it is I have numerous rejections already only because of my PCAT. I have a B.S. Chemistry gpa 3.3 and still was denied to schools. I'm also missing courses but I'm taking the missing ones right now. I live in Panama city, fl think about how much $ I have to spend. You should go you never know and If you get deneid atleast you tried. You can get accepted if you go to an interview, you will never be accepted if nerver go to an interview.

I also received an invitation for an interview.
I have scheduled my interview for April 10 although I have not received any type of confirmation email from them. Good luck to everyone =)

Look like this school invited every application they got. I didn't expect they will invite me because my PCAT score are as low as you can possible think 🙁 ..It was my first time taking PCAT in January... I can't can't believe myself when I look at my score..I don't know why the adcom want to interview me. I applied before my PCAT score was available, if I were know my PCAT score will be this low...I wound not bother to apply 🙂 ....
So this lead me to think that they are interviewing every application...that mean is bad news for some of us...this make me not want to waste my money to travel because they are not interviewing people because they are interesting the particular applicant. They interview more to look better on them but wasting money and hope on many of us..🙁
what are your PCAT score for those got interview ? if most of people fot 50 and below, then it seem like they don't care about PCAT score.
sorry if i confused people because it my first post 🙂

Don't worry i felt that way too, so i called Peggy and she told me that they had over 700 apps this year (which they were surprised about) and they are NOT interviewing everyone who applies. They're only interviewing a little over 200. This means that about 600 people got rejected. This means that whoever got an interview is a pretty good candidate. Anyways just thought yall wanted to know that... GOOD LUCK!!!!

I'm not invited yet, how come? I started get to worry right now. How did they notify you guys, email or regular mail? 🙁

is any one attenting interview on April 3rd or the 10th?

by any chance is this is like group interview?

I was contemplating between the two dates earlier, but I decided to choose the 10th because I want some time to prepare for Belmont on the 7th.

I got an email, but according to the message it seems as if they had originally sent me an invite a while ago but I never received one. So, they sent me an invite with newer dates since they haven't heard from me. They have links for you to RSVP an interview date, then they will confirm you again via email and you also receive a hard copy letter.

is anyone staying at la quinta for the march 20th interview??

Is there anyone who will be traveling from the West Coast? The flight directly to PWM (the airport in Portland, ME) round-trip costs ~$600. I'm trying to compare the two options: fly directly to ME (making 2 stops) or fly to Boston and maybe take the train from there.

has anyone who has interviewed at UNE on march 13 heard back from UNE???

Im interviewing for the april 3rd date anyone else? My plane ticket is 484$, car 400$, Hotel 236$....Adds up quick. Since they are interviewing 200 and only accepting 100 I'm a little scared becuase of 50/50 acceptance or denial??

Thanks UTD for the information, I feel better now that they only interview 200+. I'm in Hawaii, so it will cost me like $1000 for ticket alone. So this interview is costly that why I want to make sure they are not interview all applicants. I chose April 24th, and got the confirmation today. Anyone choose this date ?

I used to live in Maine, and I'm in SoCal...i usually fly into Boston and take a bus to Maine. Here's a bus that goes directly to Portland:

http://www.concordcoachlines.com/way2logan_0109.htm

the bus is great, it's what most people use to take advantage of the cheaper fares into boston.

United has direct flights to boston from lax...or long beach (LGB) has direct flights via jetblue into boston.

Thanks for the info. 🙂 How far is the bus terminal to the UNE campus area? I haven't booked my hotel yet, but I'm assuming that I will choose the closest hotel to campus.
------
For those who had the AM interview session, did the process go past 12PM? I know in the email, it says that the interview process will be from 8-4 PM. I'm assuming that the AM session will be from 8-12PM. I'm trying to book a flight out of Boston at 4:05PM. The Concord Bus leaves Portland at 12:30PM and arrives at Boston Logan at 2:40PM. If I miss that bus, then the next one will come at 1:30PM and will arrive in Boston at 3:25PM.

Here's a link to the address and various resources you need for bus station:

The pharmacy school is on the Westbrook campus, right? If so, it's about 2 to 3 miles away and will take about 5 to 7 minutes to get there. The flight times are cutting a bit close to your arrival at Logan if your interview were to end later than expected..it would probably be best to see if you can book a later flight, since Logan can get quite crazy sometimes.

Bring a good jacket and boots, it may be cold, muddy and icy there...

You must be real desperate to interview at this school. A THOUSAND BUCKS!!! I have a feeling that your stats are real low.

Hey guys,

I also received an email for an interview today. I am just worried about the school's accreditation status. IS the school going to receive ACPE status?

I think I'm gonna go ahead and do an interview on April 3rd. Flights and hotel are cheap. Anybody else planning April 3rd?

Also, I plan on flying there on April 2nd and flying home April 4. Anyone who is going to be there at the same time? We should meet up! I'd like to look around the city during any free time.

Beatrix Ill be there for the april 3rd interview. I fly in on wed. and leave sun. morning yea we should get up. Hey PM me and we can exchange info.

Is there anyone who will be traveling from SoCal for the April 10th interview? Ahh, I'm still trying to work out my plane scheduling. The ticket has gone up to $700 to Portland, so I'm thinking of flying to Boston from John Wayne and then fly home to LAX instead (so I can catch the Concord bus from ME) since they don't have a later flight back to John Wayne. The airfare will cost in the $300s, which isn't too shabby. Plus, if I want to fly directly to ME, then I will arrive there by 10:30PM (fly out from John Wayne at 6:45AM...so about a 12 hr flight total) which I think is kind of late.

Does anyone know how long after the interview until they notify you of an admissions decision?

I interviewed on March 13th and received admissions on March 23th, however there were only 14 in my interview group so it may take a little longer if the group is larger.

Hey congrats, for getting accepted. Did you get any scholarship?

No scholarship 🙁

Hey Jono do you know if they accepted everyone they interviewed?

thank God I don't have to reapply for 2010... I've been accepted.

Congratulations on your acceptance!! Are you going to accept the offer? I'm still waiting to hear from UNMC before I put down my deposit, however I only have until the 1st of April.

You interview alone with one faculty and one local pharmacist, they have access to your pharmcas essay and LORs. I was finished around 11am.

Thanks for the replies.... Congrats to those with acceptances!

Also, does anyone mind sharing their stats? I am wondering what they are looking for in a student....research experience? pharm tech experience?

I've been waitlisted for another school, and I'm still waiting to hear back from them. I'm going to put down the deposit though for UNE

anyone looking to share an apartment?
PM me

Hopefully If I get In, I will need a place. Im interviewing April 3rd as well! Anyone staying at the La Quinta?

For those who have been accepted(congrats), but can you give us your opinion about what you think the acceptance rate was for the all the people you interviewed with. Do you think everyone or most people were accepted?

how would we know the answer to that. we are not on the admission committee:laugh:

For those who have interviewed or been accepted do you think that 100 students per class is to many? Even though I didn't get to tour the new pharmacy building it doesn't seem big enough to support 300 students in 3 years. Anyone else have any thoughts on this?

What questions were asked at the interview if anyone doesnt mind sharing?
