You probably interviewed in February, correct?

First hold just refers to it being a first hold letter based on your interviewing date (e.g. January interviewers would be 2nd hold letter, and etc).

That was helpful. Thanks! Does that mean in April I will get another letter saying second hold or possibly admission. Lol

I would imagine since March is the last interview, in April you would either get admitted, on the waitlist or rejected. Once they interview everyone, there is no reason to be "on hold"

Yes, and hopefully it will be an admission packet, instead of an email! 🙂

Good luck!

Can I please confirm with those of you who've already interviewed?

We just need to bring a photo ID and something to write with, correct?

Thanks in advance!

Thank you Shelligator and congratulations on your acceptance!! I feel super nervous about tomorrow's interview.

Yes that's correct (bring a pencil!!!).

I brought a pencil but ended up using the one they gave me. So if you forget to bring one, it's okay because they'll provide one for you too.

its okay to be nervous.. i actually think i told the interviewer i was nervous lol.. just as long as you know what you want to say in the interview..

in my interview, the professor didn't know anything about me, so asked me pretty general questions until he found a topic he wanted to discuss.. like my research in ultrasound and my work with various hospitals and pharmacies.. which is a good thing because i was comfortable with these topics and i think thats the key.. try to tie in things that you are passionate about and are comfortable speaking about because it'll make you interview much easier..

remember to smile 😀

yea but its better to bring one that works well because i got a pencil from them and it broke halfway through my essay.. so i was smudging all over the place!.. i was totally stressed that they wouldn't be able to read my writing and i would automatically fail lol

Oh wow I can't even imagine that! lol that sucks! But yes, always good to have a backup!

Angelberry, you got in! Congratz!! I hope you remember me from UOP's October interview.

🙂 Oh yes of course I remember you 🙂 Sorry to hear that you're still on AC but I'm sure you'll get off it shortly. Hang in there. I thought I saw you for the December Western interview too but I wasn't sure 😛

This is my experiences and advice from friends who are currently at USC. The school has more emphasis on GPA. The higher your GPA is, the higher you are at the AC list (more chances to get in). If it is true that they accept 40 people each interview session, there are only 160 people admitted. This means there are 40+ more will be admitted from the AC list. This does not include the people who are admitted but choose not go to there. So, there even are more chances. In term of timing-wise, it took 4 weeks after the interview to know the result. So, I think after 4 weeks of the last interview, the AC list will start clearing up. I hate waiting too guys. I hope it helps.

Thanks again Shelligator, BabyBelle, and hmjung! I'll definitely bring a pencil with me!

One last question-- During the writing portion, is there a clock in the room so I know how much time I have left? Is it bad to have my phone out to check the time? (and yes... I know I sound super paranoid!) 🙄

Thanks again!

There's a clock on the back wall I think(?). I'm not sure I never looked around because the person in charge of the writing portion will notify you at 15 mins,10 mins, 5 mins etc.

Thanks. I'm trying to stay hopeful and positive! Hopefully we'll be classmates! :xf:

Thanks. This really makes me feel a lot better about my chances. I hope you're right :xf:

Congratz again to all of those that made it!! And for those that are still on AC like me, don't give up hope! :luck:

When is the first welcome reception? I want to see if I am able to come out and meet some of you guys! 🙂

Yes indeed, THANK YOU again Shelligator, BabyBelle, and hmjung!!

Not sure if I've already mentioned it, but I am a re-applicant who interviewed last year. I was also interviewed in March last year, and made sure I applied early this cycle, and still ended up getting the last interview..👎 ... But I am still very thankful for this opportunity, and proud of myself regardless for making it this far. I felt like my interview last year went pretty well, but I was put on the AC list, and never saw any movement.

I'm praying this interview tomorrow goes even better than it did last year, I am no where near as nervous as I was last year, because 1. I interviewed at Western last weekend and kind of shook the nervous bugs off of me this week.. and 2. Because whatever is meant to happen, will happen.

I wish all of you the best of luck.. and I look forward to seeing/meeting all of you tomorrow, and again in August! :luck::xf::luck::xf:

PS - Is anyone reading this a re-applicant who interviewed last year and has been accepted this year, or has their interview tomorrow? Hit me up.

Cheers Peoples!

GOOD LUCK!!!!!!!! I HOPE EVERYTHING GOES WELL!!! :luck::luck::luck: Don't be nervous! Before you leave your car, get all your nerves out and relax and enjoy the day.

Remember! You've gotten this far! Getting an interview is a good thing! It means they like you and just want to get to know you a little better. So just be yourself and you'll do great!

Just had my interview.. It went OKAY 😳
I guess all I can do now is wait.

I think my interview went really well. The interviewer, student, and I had a good conversation, with some great laughs. The writing portion wasn't too bad either. Now the waiting begins. Good luck to all those waiting as well.

For those of you that have been admitted (provisionally), is there any way that I could get the exact wording of the letter? I want to make sure that I will have everything done in anticipation, should I be admitted.

Thanks!

Does anyone know if you do the dual PharmD/MBA program if you can get scholarship for the MBA portion (ie do the 5th year for free/at a discount)?

I emailed the business admissions office but didn't get a response.

How do you know if you're provisionally admitted vs. fully admitted? Is it only if you're missing prereqs?

I assume everyone is "conditionally" accepted because even if you have completed all your prereqs you must still maintain above a 3.0 gpa. Although i'm sure you probably have nothing to worry about if you made this far.

It is a conditional acceptance and as monkiez said you must maintain a 3.0 cumulative gpa. You must have all pre reqs and your bachelors degree completed by August 15, 2011.

Hmm my letter doesn't say anything about being conditionally accepted. It just says that I have submitted all final transcripts with my degree and that I completed all my pre-pharm courses. I guess it's because I have no classes in-progress and I already have my degree. I hope I'm not missing anything. 😕

sounds like you are on track. You are probably one of the rare exceptions.

For those who have already been accepted, how many pharmacy pre-reqs do you still have in progress?

You are not missing anything. Unlike monkieez mentioned earlier, not everyone is conditionally accepted.

There are two types of acceptance letters sent out by the admission office:

One is a "conditional acceptance letter" where it states that you need to complete all the pre reqs, obtain a bachelor's degree and maintain a 3.0 GPA by mid August of 2011. They also want you to submit a transcript after each term to the office of admission and student affairs, and to contact the admission office if any of the requirements above cannot be met by August 15th.

The other type is a "fully admitted letter". It should say that there's nothing else you have to do. You're pretty much waiting for school to start. It's for those who have completed all the requirements as well as have already obtained a bachelor's degree.

Ooo that makes sense! Thanks for the clarification!

Thank you for bringing some positive energy!
I was really upset. I'm scared that if I get my hopes up, I will be more hurt when I get the rejection letter. 🙁

Thanks. I really hope I'll be joining you guys in the Fall.:xf: 😛

I don't think you have to worry too much about how many courses you have in progress as long as you have majority of your prereqs completed already. My friend has 4 in progress and she was accepted after the Feb interview.

That makes me feel much better. I have 3 in progress. Thanks BabyBelle!

yea for the pre-reqs.. i was really confused on why i was conditionally accepted and it turns out i forgot to send my AP score for calc to cover 1 semester/quarter 😛.. i recommend that if you're not sure just call the admin office and ask them.. but make sure to have your file number 😀

Just officially withdrew my acceptance to USC. That should open up another spot for those on the AC list 🙂 Good luck! :luck:

Thanks, bruin0289. Congrats on UCSF and good luck!

For those who are attending the welcome reception, did you guys receive any extra info on parking and stuff?

Not sure if they sent anything out regarding that but I know that there is a parking structure on Biggy St (I believe its $8). There is also street parking with meters.
