has anyone ever heard of USC conditionally accepting students based on them finishing their Masters?

i'm currently in grad school working toward my Masters in Chemistry and told the school it would be completed by this summer - it turns out this may not happen... research is very unpredictable!

i interviewed in March so i'm just waiting now, i don't want to get my hopes too much though if it turns out i need to finish my degree...

thanks!!

I think you should definitely let the school know what is going on with your situation. You don't want them to later find out that you did not complete your Masters even though you stated you would. That would not be good because they may retract your acceptance. So I'm sure if you let the admissions committee know, you guys could work something out.

got my rejection notice yesterday after weeks of waiting for an interview invite. can't say i'm not disappointed but i guess it's nice to know they even considered my app up to this point. also, their letter said that interviewed candidates had GPAs (cumulative & for science/math) above 3.50, so let's just say i barely missed the cut hah

I still have UWashington to look forward to 🙂 which is where I hoped to end up when i started this whole application process. going to miss SoCal though :/

Is 3.50 the average gpa? because if they had an actual cutoff point then that should be the minimum gpa requirement rather than the current 3.0.

Anyway, good luck to those on AC, I'm giving up my spot. There is hope since I had gotten off the AC list too. 🙂

Last I checked, the cut off was 3.2. The average the last few years have been over 3.6, but as an average that means people get in with both higher and lower GPAs.

Average GPA of accepted students at USC is usually ~3.5-3.6 with a 3.0 being the minimum considered.

Sorry I forgot to quote briguy in my response to make things more clear. My point was that the way briguy stated his sentence was misleading because 3.5 is not the cuttoff point to interview. So i agree with you farmercyst

It has only been a week after the March interviews, but the anticipation is killing me already

Sorry to hear about your rejection notice. But, University of Washington is a great school. Congrats!

I know how you feel. At least two more weeks of waiting for us. 😕
I saw on previous years' threads that some people get accepted as late as June.

Some people get accepted as late as a week before class starts.

Anyone know if people on AC will hear within 2-3 weeks as well?

Yes, once the decisions from the March interview are made, I believe everyone will hear something. Good Luck! :luck: Is USC your first choice?

Thanks! It would be so nice to attend USC. I just hope I get into any of my top 2 choices really. Gluck to you too! Hope we get it :luck:

Did anyone send in grades to SC for the Winter 2011 quarter? I sent mine in and still have not gotten a confirmation.

I hope all of AC people get in soon:diebanana:🙂

does anybody know if it's ok to drop classes that are in progress if the class isn't a prerequisite? i've already completed all my prereqs for USC and my lack letter says that all requirements are complete...so can i drop the class without having to notify them in writing or what not? =)

Hmm.. You can always give them a call and make sure it's okay before you drop the class. I'm sure it won't matter.

Either this week or next I think..

Anyone get Peter Dean's e-mail ? Are any of you going?

What's the email about?

There are two of them. One is about the dual degree presentation on April 29th. The other one is to collect housing information to share with students who are looking for roommates/having a place to rent.

Should I be worried that I didn't get this email? I interviewed in March.

I also interviewed in March and didn't get any emails. I guess we will get them after hopefully getting accepted. :xf::luck:

Anyone from the March interview heard anything yet? I looked at last years thread and it looks like people started getting acceptances right about now.

On sat, it will be three weeks. So today is too early. I think Mon or Tuesday or perhaps this weekend.

Did only the people who got accepted get the email from Peter Dean?

I am still on AC, and got the email, please let us know other SDners if yoy got the email!

I called yesterday and they said they will let us know next week- both who had the last interview and people on AC

Really? But Jim said that it's never taken 4 weeks... Thats not good news.

It took them 4 weeks to get out the February acceptances too this year. Not sure why it's taking so long this year🙁

Hey nvb915, I'm on the AC list as well and got the Peter Dean email. Not sure if it means anything or not.

I'm on AC and got the e-mail as well. I don't think it means anything though 👎

I have a feeling we'll hear tomorrow as well. Do you guys think acceptances will be sent through e-mail?

How do you know it will be today before noon? And it'll probably be through e-mail initially.

If they start spamming you with financial aid emails before you've heard word from them then you should be in 😛
