This is so great seeing all you guys got interviews, CONGRATS to all of you 😀

And to those who didn't get one, I feel for you as I was in your shoes last year (didn't get interview for UofT)... But I'm a firm believer that everything happens for a good reason in life, so don't give up and try again 👍

Ok, I guess I can start doing genetics now... My mind is finally at ease 😉😛

Congrats to everyone! 🙂 Like Louise said, just getting this far is an accomplishment in itself!

Now, back to studying... blah.

Do you guys mind posting your stats?

Got an interview as well. Apr 29th. See you guys there.

Congrats everyone, I'm sure you all deserve it!
Do you guys mind posting your stats?

Thank you! Good luck to you next year! Never give up.

My stats are:
- all courses completed (organic will be done today😀)
- average (using the midpoint ranges) = ~85% (82% with UofT's ranges for letter grades)
- many years of pharmacy experience (since high school, in hospitals and retail)
- lots of ECs (lots of volunteering, societies at my uni (chem, bio, etc), and more)
- LOR by a pharmacist

if you have any questions feel free to ask

btw how are you guys going to prepare for the interview? I might find the old article used a few years back and read/summarize it and look for other articles to read also (we already have some experience with scholarly articles for the labs we do so I think it won't be that hard).. what do you guys think?

you guys are lucky, I still didn't hear from them yet and I'm not sure if that's a good or bad thing considering they are sending out emails for those who got declined or accepted!

did you check your spam/junk email folders as well?

I am in 4th year, graduating this year. GPA ~3.2-3.3, pre-req GPA is somewhere around 79-80, with not great marks in my first year courses (Bio I, II, Chem I, II and Calc II). But the upper year courses were much stronger. Completed all the pre-reqs, except organic II, which I am finishing this term.

Fair bit of ECs, some experience at a pharmacy as well.

Did you have all the pre-reqs?

As others have said, don't give up 🙂 have you applied to UofT as well?

This is the information I got from the Waterloo Pharmacy website. Is that all for the reading comprehension/writing test?

More information will be appreciated.

Also, CONGRATS to everyone who got an interview! 🙂

Your stats are great! you will definitely get into the school 🙂
Good luck on your interview.

I got an Interview too! but I am from BC

Do you guys have any idea how they conduct the 30 minute interviews?

Thank you! My stats are kind of similar to yours actually, except for the fact that I was missing one course that I was planning on taking in the fall. I guess they were much more strict on having all the pre-reqs completed this year!
No I didn't apply to UofT because I didn't do the PCAT.
Good luck to you!

Do we have to say anything in particular when we reply?

woot - got an interview too!

is anyone else from BC? It would be nice to go to waterloo with another applicant...

is anybody willing to rent out a bedroom on april 29-may 1? are there any cheap but decent hotels/motels near by? any help would be appreciated!!

well you would fly in to Toronto Pearson, so you would need to find a way to get to Waterloo from there.

For that you may want to use this company, they offer transit from the airport --> waterloo and they will drop you off to where you'd like in waterloo.

in terms of hotels, your best bet would be to google "hotels near university waterloo". There seem to be quite a few.

hope that helps 🙂

yup nothing at all; i checked inbox, junk and quest! I guess they just forgot about me lol

That's bizarre!!! I would suggest calling Ken at the admissions office (you can just call the pharmacy school and they'll transfer you) I doubt they wait this long to send another "batch" of interview invites 😕

My stats are:

- 87% gpa, one course partially missing (my school doesn't have the lab component for cellular biology for some reason but I have the lecture component)
- lots of volunteer experience, quite a few ec's, work experience
- 4 months volunteering at a pharmacy
- a few awards
- LOR from a pharmacist

This is my first time applying. Rxgurl, was this your first time as well? I definitely think they were strict with the pre-requisites. I was really concerned I wouldn't get an interview because of the missing lab component.

Oh and yazahra89, what article are you talking about from last year? :S i'm a little worried about the reading/writing test, it seems a little hard?

that being said, I'm a lot more concerned about the interview!

Hey everyone! I'm new to sdn forums and joined just for this thread 😛

I also just got my interview offer for waterloo this morning! My test is on the 29th at 10am and my interview is at 12:30pm on the same day. Ugh..talk about cutting it close.

I hope to see some of you there! 🙂

@ departure: i'm not sure what it's called but i'm going to have to look through old threads and see what people have said. i'm also more concerned about the interview; i would hate to throw this opportunity away but not preparing well.

Anyone know how long the reading/writing test is for? I think the email only mentioned that the interview was 30 minutes?

I don't have any affirmative sources, but I think I heard before that it's 1 hour.

awesome, congrats!!!!

they do say they take 120/240 but for some reason for the past 2 years they haven't filled all the spots in the program, which is why they open it up again in november...so MAYBE they do take 120 and people decline OR maybe they take only applicants who they deem as qualified, and somehow this ends up being less than 120. I guess we wouldn't really know, but the former seems more likely.

Do they have a waitlist though?
