Hi everyone. Im aware that these posts are frequent but I’m a rural nebraska resident with acceptances to UNMC and Creighton, both being my top choices because of convenience and cost.

Creighton has a nice price tag of about ~75k after everything is calculated in, however, I won’t need living arrangements as I have cousins in Omaha that would negate living costs.

UNMC is ~45k after everything is said and done, BUT add in ~15k a year for living expenses and it’s at roughly 60k.

My question is: does anyone have any defining qualities about the two schools that they could mention. Creightons new facility is stunning, but is it, and their very strong clinical experience, worth the net 15k a year? Thanks.

I interviewed and have been accepted to both schools. The nice thing about UNMC is the class size of 50. Your professors will all know you and your strengths and weaknesses. With only 50 students, classes are tight knit and everyone knows one another. You will lose that and are more likely to become another face in the crowd if you go to Creighton, which I think has a class size of 115 now.

Creighton is an amazing school with a great clinical program, but I don't think you should pay an extra 60k for it.

I personally would love to go to UNMC but OOS tuition is unreasonabley high. So it's likely Creighton for me!

I think your price for Creighton is incorrect. Based on their website for costs, if you subtract living expenses, it's $91,662 for the first year. UNMC is significantly cheaper than this, so much so that I'd say this negates any benefits Creighton confers over UNMC.

I’m looking at the sheet I received at my interview. Creightons tuition (only) is 64k the first year.

There are still many expenses beyond just tuition. When taking the total cost into account per year, UNMC comes out to about $60,000. When deducting live-in expenses, Creighton comes out to about $90,000 per year. When compound interest comes into play, the gap widens further. I went to UNMC. C'mon ..... Husker football rules! Lincoln is a true college football town. Like it was mentioned above .....UNMC has a small class size. UNMC is a traditional DS with all the post grad specialities. Should be cheaper. Nebraska people are some of the kindest people in the country.

One note though. LOTS OF GUNNERS there. It's ranked and there are usually lots of students going after post-grad residencies. Hard to be ranked high percentage wise when there are only 50-55 students.

Creighton in Omaha. Meh.

According to the website, their total COA is 98,448. Take out 2k because tuition is 64k this year as opposed to 66k in the referenced figure. Take out 16k due to living allowance. Take out 2.7k for health insurance. We’re at roughly 77k?

I completely agree with all of the above, including the Omaha being meh part haha. I was just wondering if Creighton has any areas that they excel at when compared to UNMC.

I added in $9,414 from "Budget Details/Notes" to the $98,448 which totals to $107,862.
