So if I understand this whole process correctly, we have to hear something by the end of the week, true?

About what? The waitlist? I'm not sure when we find out about that, but the end of this week would be nice...

I know they don't rank the waitlist until late April/early May, but I meant just finding out anything. The committee hasn't discussed me yet, and I know that the last committee meeting is tomorrow, so that means they have to discuss and decide to accept/reject/waitlist right?

Be glad you've interviewed. I haven't heard anything at all from them, and my application was complete in early September. If the last committee meeting is tomorrow, I guess I'm SOL. 🙁

I'm sorry I don't have any useful information for you, but I would assume you are correct and they will be looking at you tomorrow. Good luck and keep us posted!

Thanks I will! If I get in I'm definitely going to Louisville! Do you know if your friend heard anything yet (the married blonde who interviewed with me)?

I am definitely going to Louisville if I get in there also. Are you in state or out of state? As for Ashley (the girl you interviewed with), she is on the alternate list as well and having to wait even longer like the rest of us. I am trying not to let it get to me but I just want to know what I need to be doing over the next year (especially the next few months) and whether or not I am studying for the MCAT for nothing! Oh well, at least it will be good review if I do end up getting in.

I'm out of state, but from Tennessee, so not too far away! Actually Louisville is only 3.5 hrs away from home as compared to UT which is about 8 hrs away. I'm surprised they already discussed Ashley - I figured none of us from that day had been discussed yet. I'm expecting to be waitlisted but still crossing my toes for an acceptance! Goodluck to you!

Best of luck to you today! Here's hoping you get good news!
:luck: :luck: :luck:

Incidentally, is there any kind of concensus (sp?) on when the waitlist rankings will be finalized? Seems like there are an awful lot of differing opinions out there...

I second that, good luck today and try to relax while waiting for that letter this week! As for the waitlist rankings being finalized...who knows. In our letter it said May and then one of my friends who spoke to Pam Osborne said that she was told we could know at the end of this month or early next month. The sooner the better for me! Hopefully someone else on here can help us out with that question. After May 15, does anyone have an idea when you should really start worrying about coming off the waitlist? I didn't know if they would take large amounts off of the list during the two or three weeks after May 15th or what. I guess if I find out I'm not in that top third I should probably prepare for the worst anyways.

I'd count on waitlist rankings the first week of May and let anything earlier be a nice surprise! Thanks for the goodluck wishes both of you... but I don't think I'll be able to relax! I'm so nervous!

My friend that I have been talking about who interviewed the last day of interviews and found out that she is on the waiting list had her status change today. Did anyone else who is on the alternate list have their status change? Mine didn't...at least not yet.

I WISH! Mine still says "committee decision pending." grrrr. Does this mean I won't be finding out anything this week??

Have you been waitlisted or have you not heard anything at all yet?

I havent heard anything,I assume that is your position as well? I am going to call them today. If I have been rejected then there is no problem in bothering them.

I do have a bad feeling about my status though. I just feel my interview went to well. Seems to be my luck. Is that girl you know in one of your previous quotes a OOS or IS?

OK I called and asked if everthing on the website had been updated. They said yes. I said mine hadnt and what did this mean. Then I was told end of buisness by Friday and letters out this month. Damn.

What does that mean? You mean, if there hasn't been an update from CDP on your status by now, there will be by the end of the business day on Friday and a round of letters will be sent out?

Thanks for calling and finding out. I'm starting to have a bad feeling as well. Waitlist here I come.

That girl is IS as am I. She found out the committee meeting after her interview (Feb. 28th I believe) that she was on the wait list and yesterday her status changed saying she has a letter in the mail. I am IS and my status still just says that I am "Not on Waitlist", which they said would happen until they have the list ranked. Good luck to you two and I hope that you hear some good news. Hopefully they are just slow with the updates this week and you all have promising letters on the way :luck:.

AHHH My status just changed to Decision Notification Pending. I'm suddenly terrified!

As has mine. Megflyin I share your terror. Now the waiting begins. Ill llet you know how it goes.

Looks like the suspense continues until Monday.

Oooh, I've got my fingers/toes crossed for you guys!
:luck::luck::luck:

On a semi-related note, I've got it on good authority that the waitlist ranks will be out the first week of May. I had gotten my hopes up that I'd know something sooner, so that's no fun. I guess it's another good month of waiting for all of us....

...That completely ruins my day. It looks like another month of checking my status several times a day, every day, hoping that by some random chance that they got it ranked early! I think at this point, they are just seeing who can survive and whoever is still alive and is in the best shape by May gets to be towards the top of the list...survival of the fittest. I am starting to think they have cameras watching us at all times and enjoy watching us suffer 😎

Man, if they really did like watching us suffer, they wouldn't have rolling admissions. I'll bet waiting to release any acceptances until 4/15 is like crack for those adcoms!

Daaangit this snail mail is killin me! I've decided that there's no way good news can travel this slow so I must be waitlisted. Here's to another month of agony!

WAITLISTED! Bam. Pretty stoked not as stoked as an acceptance though. For a corrupt as city Birmingham has fast *** mail. Best of luck MegFlyin im sure the news will be good news.

Well, it looks like we'll all be right back here in a month waiting to see where we end up on the waitlist.

Y'know, statistics would indicate that at least one of us will be top 1/3 of the waitlist.... :scared:

man.. i just realized i could be rejected! I kept thinking it was waitlist or accept b/c that's how all my other schools have been, but I forget Louisville isn't like that. AHH!

First off, congrats TheVirginian for making the alternate list! And MegFlyin, I'm sure you will hear some good news, I wouldn't look into the timing of the mail too much. I have heard that there is a separate alternate list for OOS and IS residents...has anyone else heard the same?

waitlist... im trying really hard to be happy about this but dangit i wanted in!

waitlist... im trying really hard to be happy about this but dangit i wanted in!

Yeah, I think we all did. I'm thinking that at some point they stop with outright acceptances and move people to the waitlist readily.

At least they say that it is a rare, rare year in which they don't end up offering acceptances to the first 1/3 of the wailtlist. That's pretty significant movement.

Does anyone know how many applicants they place on the waitlist? I mean do they put everyone on it who interviews and isnt offered immediate acceptance? Does anyone know of anybody that has been rejected post interview?

I forget exactly how many but it's definitely not everyone who interviews. I believe it was something like 40 people on the OOS list and 60 on the IS list... something like that. So when an IS student withdrawals they take someone from the IS list etc.

To those OOS. When are yall going to start looking for a place to live in Louisville. Im waitlisted and since I live in the not so great state of AL. I am going to have to go up there sometime and find a default palce to live. In addition to my previous questions does anyone know of some cool places to live in Lville or maybe more importantly where not to live.

I'm not looking unless I get in. All I know is that my tour guide suggested NOT living in the housing Louisville provides - apparently it's pretty crappy.

I wondered the same thing, so I e-mailed a MS-1 I know there a while back. Here's what he said:

Some UofL MS-1 I know said:
As to where people live, that is pretty variable. I would say that probably most people live in apartments downtown, or in places off of Zorn Ave. and Brownsboro Rd. which are both about a 5 min drive from the med school and you don't have to get on any of the interstates from these places. The other people that don't live quite that close to downtown live only about 10-15 min away. Some people live off of bardstown road and that is a bit further away, and a few people I know live really far away from the med school. It just depends on how close you want to be to the school.

Bardstown road is the only one I'm familiar with and it's a little.... Bohemian. Lots of bars and coffee shops. There are probably a few more student-friendly places closer to the med school.

I know some people that live in River Oak Apartments off Zorn near Brownsboro and they are very nice and reasonably priced. Fitness center, pool, tennis and racquet ball courts. Ask for the med student discount if you go there. I think my friend gets a 2 bedroom 2 bath for $600/mo.

Anyplace that has a squash court? That would be most rad.

I would just like to throw that out there. In case I do get in, anyone lax or play squash in Lville?

I have decided to move to Lville regardless of acceptance or not. If I dont get in I guess ill try to get a research job at the med school. Has anyone else done this? Im done with Bham and ready for a change. So since Im moving if you squash or lax def let me know.

I am redundant.

So....is everyone hanging in there? Just thought I'd ask since it's been quiet on here 😳

Yup =) I actually think it's a good thing I don't know where I'm going. If I did, I would be so distracted looking for a place to live, finding a roommate, etc. This way I can focus on doing well the last few weeks of school. You doin alright?

I'm holding on. I got accepted on post-bac status at a nearby school and I'm looking for places to live closer to campus. I figure it would be pretty sweet to cancel all this if I get off the waitlist, but would suck pretty hard to try to throw it all together in June if I don't.

(T-minus ~1 month until rankings are released) :scared:

I am the opposite...since I don't know what is going on, I am having a harder time focusing on school work. However, I have very easy general education courses, so it isn't hard to stay on top of things. But I am studying for the MCAT as well (which I can't take until July since May and June are already taken anywhere within 100 miles of here), and this waiting is making me suck at studying for it. Do you have any acceptances at other schools Meg? In the mean time, I am trying to obtain a job as an ED Tech or something in case I need a job over the next year and am hoping I am going through all of this for nothing. I am about to pay the $250 or whatever it is for the MCAT and I would gladly pay that and then find out in May that I am in! It would be the best $250 that I threw away ever.

I hear ya on that one. Though I am also about to drop $282 per credit hour for classes I might not even need. That will be fun.
