UofL Status

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Thank you very much! Feels good to have the whole application process behind me... Good Luck!

Well, officially no mail by saturday. I hope to my decision is still in the mail. Do you all think I should call on monday? I interviewed pretty early but my status is still decision pending (last updated 10/4). I hope that doesn't mean waitlist or something....But they did say at the interview that my decision would be mailed out on the 15th, like everyone esle.....

They told me that they change your online status to "Decision Notification Pending" when they're sending out your letter. So I guess that means they still haven't made a decision if your status hasn't changed? Though med school websites are notoriously spotty. A call on Monday could be a good idea.

Well, I called them today. I guess I am still under review. To me this is a very bad sign. I interviewed early (9/13), and they told me I would recieve my decision when all ya'll did. However, I am an out of state student, but I have very strong ties to the state and the University of Louisville. Would you all think this is a bad sign also? Am I freaking out for no good reason?

So the committee met this past Tuesday. Anyone's status change to "Notification Pending"? Any good news out there?

uofl is notorious for having a terrible web page... they rarely update. so if your status doesn't immediatly change, don't read into it too much.

well its Friday, and I haven't heard any news yet. I am instate and I interviewed Oct 3. Did they wait until Friday afternoon to update your status page?

Anyone get any interview invites recently?? I checked my status page and the only change that occurred in the last month was now they have "YES" next to "Secondary Application Received." I've been complete since mid-August!!

Dude, I interviewed on 9/13 and I still have a decision pending notification, I woulnd't get your hopes up.

Hahahaha...me too! I was complete August 20th, and the "YES" in the "Secondary Application Received" just appeared in the last day or two. I suspect that they're getting their database updated now that their flood of primaries has stopped (their primary deadline was the 15th of this month). I imagine more interview invites will go out in the next few weeks once they get those secondaries in and can see what their complete application pool looks like.

So I guess we'll just keep doing this every 2nd and 4th Tuesday. The adcom met today, anyone else waiting nervously for good news? :scared:👍

Still waiting for my decision...blah, for those who remember, I interviewed September 13th and I am out of state but attended a KY university. I hate this.

I called UofL today and they said to not expect any updates for the next 24-48 hours. So it takes a few days after the adcom meets to update notifications.

Hmmm... That's weird because I just called (4:45pm) also and they told me that statuses were being updated as we spoke!!

Here's hoping!! :luck::luck::luck::luck::luck::luck::luck::luck:😀

I'm going to wait until 5:30 or so just to be sure the business day has ended when I check.

Although....I spoke with a girl who was accepted last year and she said that her status never changed. Even 3+ months after she'd been accepted. Maybe they're making concerted efforts to improve their updating this year?

So here it is nearly 6pm and no change. Please tell me I'm not the only one... 🙁

nope I haven't heard anything either. I saw that you interviewed on 11/8. I intervied 10/3 and am still expecting word, so I don't know if you should be too concerned with the meeting this past tuesday. I could be wrong though, I seem to know absolutely nothing about UofL's processing.

Nope. Still no change here. I interviewed 10/11, so this is the 3rd committee meeting since my interview. I kinda wish they'd just get it over with, but I suppose no news > rejection.

I haven't had any change in status. Of course, I haven't been offered an interview...just stuck in post-secondary bliss.

This worries me. I wonder, how can they really remember you from your interview when they are interview about 24 people a week, meeting every 2 weeks, and not even getting to you for at least 3 rounds?! 😕

So any status changes out there?

still nothing new at Louisville. Though I did get put on hold at UK today... 🙁

*sigh* Same here. 2nd committee meeting down. I do have my 12/11 UK interview to look forward to I guess. I'd be nice to go into that with an acceptance though. 🙁

I dont like how there is no way to tell if the decision has been made and it simply isnt updated yet or if your passed over. Oh well UK on tuesday.

If any of you are going crazy waiting like I am, I thought I would share this little update I just found on the website.

"The November 27th Admissions Committee Meeting has been canceled.
The next meeting will be held Tuesday, Dec. 11th."

Isn't that splendid? I know I shouldn't worry about it because everyone has said that it normally takes them multiple meetings to get to your file, but I just can't help being anxious!

Well that was just spirit crushing. I really wanted to hear back from them as soon as possible but I guess I'll have to wait longer still. 🙁

I was a little surprised they would schedule a meeting right after Thanksgiving though. Think they'll have a second meeting in December or will the 11th the last time we could hear anything before January?

I doubt they will meet later in Dec. From what I understand, most med schools take the holidays off and won't resume until Jan sometime. I just don't really understand it. It took UK 8 days to give me an answer, and it will be nearly 10 weeks before I hear from UL (and thats if they even get to me then!)

What's up U of L people?😀

I may be attending ol' Louisville for medical school.

I've read up on the school as much as I can, but it never hurts to hear a bit more from other potential students and I'm an out-of-stater.

What can you tell me of student life, the classes, etc.?

I realize this thread may not be specifically for questions like mine, but I figure everyone is assembled here anyway so why not.

What was your news at UK? Good things?

The status check says my LORs are "Pending." Does that mean they have been received but not processed?

Mine says "Pending" too and I find the caption to be unclear as well. I think this means that they have been received? I emailed them just to be sure.

Yep, really good things. I actually got accepted at UK last Thurs. The situation I am facing is that I am getting married in the comming year and I wanted to use Christmas break to make a decision between the two schools if I get accepted to both. I don't care if I get rejected from UofL, I just think its fair to be given a decision in a timely manner.

Don't get me wrong, I am thankful for UK's acceptance and I will probably (85% sure) be attending UK even I do get accepted at UofL, I just can't move on without knowing an answer first.

My letters were posted on VirtualEval, so they have nearly immediate access to your letters when put online. After about three weeks without a change to the pending tab, I simply called them and they updated the site 30 seconds later.

So if your letters are online I would just call if you are worried about it. UofL will actually schedule an interview without having any of your letters though.

Yay!!! Congratulations!

Even if Louisville is infinitely better than UK...

Especially if you're a Hilltopper anyway, right? You should always bleed red, not blue.. ha ha!

Miked, I understand your pain. I'm a first-year at UK and I remember going through the same situation but reversed after I was accepted by UofL on 10/15 (I interviewed really early) but didn't interview at UK until November of last year. My understanding of the process is that UK's committee will stay as long as they have to in order to go through every application from that 2-week cycle, while at UofL they have a set amount of time for each meeting and can't go over it.

Anyway, my advice on choosing would be to wait as long as you can if you do end up being accepted by both. After New Year, both schools will start sending you much more info regarding curriculum style, schedules, etc. Both schools also had a weekend event for admitted students on each campus (UK's was in Jan and UofL had theirs in Feb) that offers a lot of insight into how each school operates. The information you get from Jan-March is really helpful in determining which school is right for you, and keep in mind most scholarships are handed out during this time as well. My other pre-med friends and I were stuck trying to decide between the two schools during Christmas of last year, and we had all decided by April, after all of the info we received during the spring (about half choose UK, half UofL, and all are happy with their choice). So my advice would be to at least attend both schools' weekend programs for admitted students and read up on the curiculum for each as much as you can (there are a ton of differences and pros and cons for each) before making a decision.

Thank you for this info ... as someone deciding between the two this was the best information I have received on making my decision so far. Thank you for this.

I agree, I was not aware there were special days for admitted students to find out more information. This is very very useful! I am in the same position as KYMedGuy2011, I was accepted at UL on 10/15 (got my letter on the 19th) and interviewed at UK in early November and was accepted. It is going to be a tough decision...

The U of L website says the Nov 27 adcom meeting has been cancelled. Can anyone else confirm this?

Well, there was a committee meeting yesterday, and I checked my status today. Still says "Committee Decision Pending." 🙁 I guess I'll have to wait to hear from them sometime after New Year...

Anyone out there get the status update and waiting for a letter?

So I think I am just going to withdraw from U of L and go to UK...im tired of this decision pending frustration

Haha! Well maybe it would lighten the load on the Adcom a little. 👍

I interviewed on 9/13. Think of how bad Im feeling by now....

So everyone's status still says "decision pending"? I'm thinking that they just might have not done updates yet because the post about the Nov. 27 meeting being cancelled is still up and you would think they would change that when they update our statuses. I'm not giving up yet!

Well, I got a PM today from someone who apparently lurks around this thread. He/she interviewed 11/5 (I think?) and claims their status changed to the "Notification Pending" thing after Tuesday. Of course this is all heresay, but I suppose that's what breeds most pre-med neuroticism anyway...
