The week we have all been waiting for is finally here...I am definitely feeling less confident than I have the past couple of months. There are three of us here at NKU that will be finding out our position on the wait list this week and I just have a bad feeling that they wouldn't put all three of us or maybe even two of us in the top third since we are all from NKU. One of the two applicants said she is going to turn down her offer and take a year off if she is accepted and then reapply to a D.O. school because she feels it is more for her...I wish she would have realized that before accepting an alternate list spot. Anyways, I wish you all the best of luck...this is what we have been waiting for (hopefully)!

Yup, best of luck to everyone! :luck::luck::luck:

Do we want to start taking bets on when we find out the news? I'll wager that we know after 5:00p on Wednesday.

My bet will be for Thursday, May 8th. If anyone would like to bet me $100, I am game. Alright, alright...so maybe I cheated and they posted that on the status check website. At least they let us know so we wouldn't be checking all week for nothing.

You shouldn't have told us that. You could've cleaned up!

So I just thought of something else to be neurotic about! Yay!

Do you think the status updates will go up at midnight? Or after 9a on Thursday?

Either way it's less than 24 hr away and I'm nervous as hell. :scared: It'd sure be nice to retake the MCAT knowing I'm high on the waitlist...

My bet is on Thursday 5:00 pm.

That's what I was going to say. They seem to be all about torturing us and making us wait as long as possible, so I couldn't imagine it being up early in the day! I am also nervous as hell...it would be the best graduation present ever if I got on the top third of the alternate list and then accepted soon!

My friend who keeps checking the number of accepted students on blackboard just texted me and told me that it was 159 two days ago and now it is down to 156. I am thinking that there will be a ton of people to drop their acceptances the day or two before, so this could be good for us! On another note, the further along in the day I go today, the more nervous I get...time to go study for my finals that I have tomorrow.

So about how many people are in each third? I guess when I think about it I really have no idea how many people they put on the waitlist in the first place. 100? 60? 30?

I'm sure someone knows.

Awww, for some reason I haven't started getting nervous yet - probably will once I click on the status page tomorrow. Goodluck with your finals!

LikeClockWork - I think it's something like 60 people on the IS waitlist and 40 on the OOS waitlist. So top 1/3 should be 15 and 10 people, respectively. I don't remember exactly so someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I think that's about right.

No I'm seriously not...

Committee Decision:Wait List
You have been put on the wait list. As positions become available in the class, you will be notified of admittance. We can only give out your position on the wait list as top third, middle third, or bottom third. No other information can be given regarding your status. If you are unsure about whether to reapply, please contact the Director of Admissions to discuss your situation.05/07/2008Wait List Rank:Top Third

congrats!!! That must be a little relieving. Do you have any other acceptances? I have a bad feeling about my spot now...I have a feeling if I was in the top third that mine would have been posted too. Guess I will have to wait a little longer!

I've been accepted to Marshall (in West Virginia)...if I get into Louisville though I'm going to attend.

I don't mean to keep bugging you, but are you in state or out of state? Congrats on the other acceptance. Hopefully I will see you at Louisville, I really liked it there as well.

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm in the top third too!!!! =) =) =) =) =) =) =)

CONGRATULATIONS!

Mine aren't up yet so I'm starting to get a little freaked out. I guess it would make senes if they posted all the "top third" waitlisters first though...

Well...it looks like it is over for me. I'm on the bottom third. Congrats Meg and Louisvilledoc, I sincerely mean it. I'm glad that your hard work has payed off and I hope you all get that acceptance letter in the next couple of weeks.

Yeah, I'm right there with you Jared. Kinda makes me wish they'd just rejected me outright instead of dragging this out for 6 months, but I suppose it can only help for next year.

Back to MCAT studying...

PS. See you in the UofL Status '08 thread!

Sorry to hear that man. I feel the same way, but you are right, it definitely will look better next year that we were on the alternate list instead of outright rejected. I am going to take a couple of days to cool down and to get this graduation stuff out of the way and then I have two months where I can study all day, every day until the July 8 MCAT.

Sorry to hear that you two...you've both obviously worked hard and this is probably pretty discouraging. This is actually my second time applying...I got rejected (Not even waitlisted) the first time around, so I've been there before. I had to take the MCAT twice...that was terrible...but it did help me this application cycle to show improvement. Anyway, I wish you two the best of luck.

Jared & Likeclockwork: MAN! That stinks!! Even though I don't really "know" you, I'd started thinking of you two as my fellow classmates =( Best of luck to both of you in this next application cycle and hopefully I'll be seeing you around Louisville in the fall of 09! (IF I get in this year)!

Congrats Louisvilledoc - keep me posted on your status!

Jared and Clockwork: I'm sorry to hear that. I was really looking forward to having you as classmates.

Louisvilledoc and Meg: Blackboard is down to 153. You're well on your way!

Agreed - thanks a ton sosarah! Does anyone know how we will be notified of an acceptance? Email/snail mail/phone??

I can tell you how my acceptance occurred. My online status changed to:
Decision Notification Pending
The Admissions Committee has made a decision on your file and a letter has been sent to you in the mail notifying you of this decision. No final decisions will be given out over the phone.

Then I got a letter in the mail about 3-5 business days later.

I don't know if they'll do it the same way off the waitlist or not. Also, I never got an email telling me to check my status; I just did it religiously for 3 months until one day it changed!

Good Luck guys!! (Bb = 153 still)

I called them today and they said that waitlist spots are given out by mail or phone. If they call, however, they will always follow it up with a hard copy letter. Sosarah thanks for the input and updates on BB...it only helps to further my obsessive behavior 🙂

Anyone know if Louisville provides laptops or anything? Or if PCs and Macs both work with their software?

Word on the street is that we will receive a smartphone December of second year so that we are familiar with its use by third year rotations. Word is also that UofL will pay for the data plan and we will have to pay for our own voice plans.

They do not provide any laptops. I don't know if I made this up in my head or a saw it somewhere, but I think they reccommmend PCs. That's not a promise though.

How big do you think the waitlist really is? I'm an in state applicant...when I called up there they said that there was only one waitlist...not separate ones for in state and out of state. Most people on here say there are two lists though...your thoughts?

Bb is still 151. And, like Bowtie, I still know of a few people on there who will be withdrawing. As far as separate waitlists go, I don't know any facts about that. I do know, however, that they have a certain number of seats set aside specifically for out of state students.

Do you think they're waiting to offer those new spots until May 15th? Has anyone heard of offers being made in the past few days?

Hey guys, I'm a member of the class of 2012! I haven't had time to back read all these pages, so does anyone want to give me a synopsis of what's been said about our class? Any of the WKU grads here? I know there's a lot of us!

I some stuff to Louisville today, so I'm starting to get nervous about the months ahead! I'm going to chill out all summer and not do anything. Come August I'll be ready for Gross and Histo.

This thread was 95% applicants stressing about interviews, waitlists, LOI's, and online status. Since you already have an acceptance (congrats 👍), only about the last page will apply to you.

Not to get too many hopes up, but the BB is now at 145 (one of which is the Admissions staff) ...

Sweet! Are you going to UofL for sure? You're "junior bacon cheeseburger" reminds of that Skeelo song (hopefully you know what I'm talking about.. if not you should go download it) =)

Wow...Skeelo...I forgot about him. itunes here I come...

I have been searching for anybody to be admitted off the waitlist at UofL this year...so far I can't find anybody on SDN.

Apparently a few years back somebody got off the waitlist on May 17th...somewhere between 2002-2006.

Anyway, none of this is really of any importance but I just thought I would share. I'm guessing they are waiting until after the 15th deadline to start pulling people off...
