you rejected OHSU? wow. are you IS or OOS. what was your TS. i know they also look at male / female / ethnicity / activities.
IS. TS 23. I am an Iranian. +100 hrs volunteer and 150 hrs shadow. i transferred during covid so couldn’t participate in any research during my undergrad.

No way... Why didn't you just accept OHSU and pay the deposit and still hold out for UoP? You'd really rather go nowhere and wait a year instead of going somewhere other than UoP?

exactly. i know peeps at OHSU and hmmm ... ouch this tea is piping hot

I didn't apply to OHSU bc I heard they aren't doing the greatest... but I 100% would choose OHSU over delaying applying for another year.
agreed. goal is to get that degree ... regardless of where it's from, esp when we don't have much choice; yeah, cheap not necessarily good - heard about UCSF, OHSU, having some challenges

Does anybody know how often UOP sends out interview invitations, and what interview format they use?

Just curious if you heard that from someone in admissions or some other source?

There are three interview dates in March with 9 total interview slots open between the three. Keep in mind people decline their interviews so some may free up.

I got invited to interview yesterday and almost all the slots are full. But it is true, people may drop their interview and spots may open up.

As I said my life situation doesnt allow me to drop and move for four years. Its totally personal nothing against the school. i heard great things about OHSU.

So when you sign up for an interview date does it show the slots that are already taken and who is being interviewed?

Anyone who got an interview invite has access to the interview portal used to schedule an interview that shows the dates and slots available.

Any current or recently graduated students around I can PM to talk about their experience?

They sent me an email. Im sure they will be contacting you within the next week as well. Goodluck!! Keep me updated!

Is the waitlist separate from the “alternate” list? I was browsing older years and it seems they have an “alternate” list. Can anyone elaborate on that and its differences from waitlist?

alternate list = waitlist

I may have heard this incorrectly, but I thought I remembered them mentioning a student panel zoom a week or so after my interview day. Did anyone else recall this?

alternate list = waitlist
just talked to two current students. alternate list according to them is much smaller than a typical waitlist and attend class for two weeks at the start of the term in case students drop out. would you mind sharing what your source is?

I must be wrong then, idk. That's an interesting policy.

For those accepted, what is the estimated cost of tuition? Just want to compare it to Roseman's 3-year program. Thanks!

It looks like around $143,715 (including everything) does that sound right?

If you fund everything via loans and If you use the max 34k a year living allowance with current interest rates while also taking into account tuition inflation, loan fees, and interest accumulation of the three years of UOP, you will graduate about 630k in debt according to my calculations I did.

Holy, that's way more than I thought. Do you need $34k a year for living expenses at UoP? What's the typical rent over there if you get a couple of roommates

i would not get advice or numbers from a keyboard warrior on SDN ... talk to the financial aid director. he has been very helpful and transparent. cost of living is high, but I don't think it's 34K a year ... check with Mr. castellanos

misinformation. waitlist = alternate list. has nothing to do with people on standby if there are seats open when school starts. my source = I called the admissions office

According to the people at financial aid during the interview, tuition and Fees for D1 year is $145,598, D2 year is $138,751 and D3 year is $139,664 so total for tuition and fees is $424,013. According to financial aid, the max living budget per year is $34,236 so if that’s what you spend a year then over three years that is $34,236 x 3 = $102,708. The amount of loans that you will need to take out will therefore be $424,013 + $102,708 which comes out to $526,721.

At UOP you can take out a max of $54,000 a year via direct unsubsidized loans which has an interest rate of 6.54% and a fee of of 1.059%. So of that $526,721, $162,000 of it will be via direct unsub loans and so you will have to pay a 1.059% fee on that $162,000 and so 1.059% of $162,000 = $1,715.58.

So if $162,000 was via direct unsub loans that means the rest of the loans which is $364,721 will be via GRAD PLUS loans which has a current interest rate of 7.54% and a fee of 4.236% and so 4.236% of $364,721 is $15,449.5816. So, the total in fees you will pay on that $526,721 is $17,165.1616.

D1 cost: $145,598 + $34,236 = $179,834

$54,000 at 6.54% interest = $3,400

$125,834 at 7.54% interest = $9,487.88

D1 year created $12,887.88 worth of interest that will tick again during D2 and D3 year so by the time you graduate, D1 year costed $218,497.64

D2 cost: $138,751 + $34,236 = $172,987

$54,000 at 6.54% interest = $3,400

$118,987 at 7.54% = $8,971.6198

D2 year created $12,371.62 worth of interest that will tick again during D3 year so by the time you graduate, D2 year will cost $197,730.24

D3 cost: $139,664 + $34,236 = $173,900

$54,000 at 6.54% interest = $3,400

$119,900 at 7.54% = $9,040.46

D3 year created $12,440.46 worth of interest.

Total interest accumulated for D1, D2, D3 = $75,847.34

Total balance when graduated = Tuition/Fees + Loan fees + 3 years of interest accumulation

Total balance when graduated = $526,721 + $17,165.1616 + $75,847.34

= $619,733,502

This is just exactly correct information. UOP is expensive. I say that as a UOP student. Also that 34k is basically the minimum. That’s assuming you are a student with roommates sharing rent. Some people have to front the entire rent cost which 34k a year does not even come close to.

Does anyone know what the alternate list is and how (or if) it is different from the waitlist? What are the chances of getting off the alternate list?

Alternate list and waitlist mean the same thing just different ways to phrase it. Take this statement with a grain of salt, but I have heard from one dugoni alumni and one student that if you are waitlisted, you get a guaranteed interview the following cycle... or is it an acceptance???

a number of students who are slated to be alternates will be on standby and attend the first two weeks of school. Those students if they do not get in do not have it in writing, but are basically guaranteed to get in the next year. Source: current students.

Hi everyone, do you guys know if UOP is done sending interviews? did anyone get placed on the waitlist?
