Update from MCW

Yea, that messege is a good one. I recieved that email and then a few weeks later I got my interview invite.
 
Does anyone know if you do receive that email and do no hear for a long time, ~ 4 weeks, if there is still a chance for a interview? cuz alot of people said that once they received that email they were notified of an interview in about a week or so

I received that email and haven't heard anything in over a month.

I got the message 8/14 and received an invite 10/4. MCW's adcom meets around the end of the month, so if you don't get an invite by the first week of a month, you probably didn't get invited from that meeting.
 
I was in the first batch of these update letters (sent sometime around early Sept. I believe). Anyway, I called MCW today to ask about my status; they said that I should hear something back by the end of the month. So whether this is good or bad, I've yet to discern...but I just wanted to let all of you know that if you received this letter in the first round, it's likely that you might hear something around the same time. Call em and see what they say.
 
I got it today. These mystery messages from schools are so fun to figure out. Ha. Just curious as to what came of the people in this thread who got the message a while back?

(The first line "This is NOT an invitation to interview" in bold and underlined is soo mean)
 
i got that email on Oct 8th and I still haven't heard anything...

I don't mean to be a downer, but I was complete on 7/19, got that email on 9/17, and have yet to hear anything else. *shrug*
 
I would wait until early next week before conceding that you're not going to get an invite during this committee meeting. They meet at the end/beginning of every month, so I imagine that's this week.

I suppose MCW isn't that far away for you, but would you even have gone to the interview if it involved flying with the acceptances you already have?

Hmmm, one of the MCW adcom higher-ups just walked past me.....


anywho, they do give interviews to some people without ever notifying them of being "in the pool." I never got any notification like that prior to my interview.
 
Yeah, some people, especially those that are in-state, get interviews w/o being in this pool. I wasn't considered IS by MCW until last week b/c I'd never filled out the WRDF. I'm not sure if they invite in-state people w/o them being in that pool or not.
 
I'm in-state, thought I was a great candidate for MCoW, I even met with Michael Istwan last year and he had nothing but positive things to say about my potential application, said I was borderline for a EDP there, but would be a great regular pool applicant and just got a cold, hard, rejection letter. 🙁 I really don't want to leave Wisconsin.

I was going to drive there (definitely not fly) - it's really not that far (only an hour and a half from my parent's house in the north burbs of Chicago), but you do have a point. I was just thinking about that today after I posted. I was really interested in MCW (heard great things about the school), but given my Loyola acceptance I would probably decline to let someone else take the interview. I guess at this point I'm just curious what their decision will be since I thought I had a decent shot at MCW at the start of this application process. Maybe they really aren't keen on an 8 in any one section. *shrug*
 
At this point in time that email is the closest thing that I have to an interview invite...

You guys said the committee meets at the beginning of every month?
 
I got a rejection in the mail today from MCW. And I never received the interview pool email.
 
After calling two weeks ago and being told I was in the smaller pool I still haven't gotten the email. But I also haven't be rejected, I am guessing my application is collecting dust somewhere on the MCW campus.

I just got the "email message" this morning and I am in-state. So, hoping they move in-staters off the list soon into the to be interviewed pool
 
I am hoping for a nice Hannukah gift this week from MCW....
 
Received that email today. App complete 10/31 OOS
 
So... all week.... I am waiting.... because.... they go through their applications at the end of the month.... and then invite the beginning of the month.... and no one on SDN got an invite this month. I thought, from the way the women on the phone sounded, that I should be expecting an invite. I have waited with bated breath checking my email over and over every day this week. It is already Friday, almost 5:00. I am getting used to waiting, but it makes it harder when someone tells you to be expecting something and it doesn't come. Has anyone gotten an invitation? I would like to know that they really haven't gone out yet and so I can still be hopeful about Monday.
MCW students - are they not inviting this month due to holiday season?
 
I would be patient until next week. The November interview invites went out on Monday the 5th (to my knowledge), even though the acceptances and "smaller pool" emails went out before the end of the previous week. Try to relax a few more days and good luck!
 
So receiving the smaller pool email is DEFINITELY better than not receiving it???

I would say so. Some people receive interview invites without ever getting that e-mail (like me), but I'm not sure if they start putting people in the interview pool later in the fall or what. I got my interview right off the bat.
 
Considering a bunch of ppl were in the smaller pool and have 1st/2nd round acceptances, I would say yes.
