UPenn c/o 2018 applicants!

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Woohoo, rejected! 3rd rejection post-interview, go me.

Sorry about that tigra. You'll get them next time. I've faced some rejections myself but dont worry you'll do great next time.

So I moved within Philadelphia halfway through the application process - just spoke with admissions and they said my letter got sent to my old address. The anxiety...this whole time...

Hello! First time poster, long time lurker. I was wondering if any of you know how I am supposed to go about declining my offer to attend UPenn. My acceptance letter only mentions what I am supposed to do if I choose to attend UPenn (mail in the $500 deposit and technical standards form). I'm 100% committed to attending Ohio State so I want to let UPenn know asap so that they can offer my seat to someone on the waitlist. UPenn is my in-state school so it will be extra awkward for me to call them to decline their offer. Do you think it would be acceptable decline by email?

I seriously doubt they'd take offense that you're choosing a different school, just be cordial and call them.

I don't even think they're going to go into the waitlist right away since they're still interviewing, so even if you just don't give a response, the person who will be offered your seat won't be notified that much sooner, if at all prior to April 15th. They're still figuring out the ranking of everyone on the waitlist, I'd imagine.

Send admissions an email or just give them a call and tell them you're interested in a different school. They should be more than understanding and likely just wish you the best wherever you end up.

I called admissions last week, and she notified me that there still are potentially 2-3 interview days left. Does anyone have experience getting interviewed this late in the game?

I wonder if that means that we would have already received an invite for one of those days if there's only 2 or 3 left. Don't they usually send an invite a few weeks before the actual interview?

Has anyone received any invites recently?

I emailed Admissions last week and was told that *everyone* will hear by the end of March. I would imagine that those offered the last interview dates would hear, the latest, by mid-month?...

I just got my rejection email from UPenn (like 5 minutes ago). C'est la vie.

Ugh. Me too. I have one more school to hear from... :help:

Penn still hasn't sent me anything (so I'm still waiting for my rejection letter... lol).

Sorry to hear that, Chitty 😢 I hope you hear good news from AVC.

Hopefully everyone who received bad news from Penn today has heard good news from other schools.

I just got my rejection letter as well. I almost forgot I applied to UPenn... good thing I didn't hold my breath!! 🙄 . Best of luck to those that are still waiting to hear back! :luck:

Did anyone else get an email telling them they were on "hold status"? And if so, has anyone been accepted/rejected after getting that email? I got mine right after my interview almost a month ago and I haven't heard anything since. Ugh! SO FRUSTRATING!

I have NCSU to hear from (my IS)... those letters went out yesterday...
Best of luck! I should hear from AVC (my Alamo) very soon. This whole process is cruel and unusual lol Funny thing, I almost didn't even apply to UPenn. Hindsight...

Do you guys think there's a chance that they are sending out the last round of interview invites, or do you think it's all going to be rejections?

They're cutting it pretty close if they plan to send out more interview invites... Seems like invites would have to go out this week (maybe next week) if decisions will be out for everyone before the end of March.

I know of at least two of my classmates that interviewed on the very last day. I wouldn't give up hope until you here from them directly.

I guess it's safe to assume we wont hear anything from them today since its a lot later now. Well, here's to maybe making an interview date tomorrow 🙂

I still haven't heard anything. Is anyone else in the same boat?

Yup, nothing on my end either! I had basically given up hope, but now I'm starting to hope again since I haven't gotten a rejection yet... I wish I hadn't checked this thread lol.

Nothing for me today either. And yeah, it's hard not to be a little hopeful since we didn't get rejections yesterday. I always thought Penn was a stretch for me, though, so I'm still waiting for a rejection more than anything else.

Yeahhh it's a bit of a stretch for me as well, so pretty sure a rejection is coming my way too. So impatient to hear, thank goodness we're nearly finished waiting.

Seriously, I'm so glad we're almost done waiting (and I'm sorry for those of you on wait lists). I never realized how stressful waiting would be.

I haven't heard anything yet either! I basically stopped even reading SDN the past week or so because I'm waitlisted at 2 schools and nothing from Penn so I'm just assuming rejection...and assuming I will be re-applying this year. I've pretty much just accepted it and am moving forward...but now there is just the slightest sliver of hope after reading this thread.... I will now begin holding my breath. 😕

I really hope so!! Good news!!! Positive thinking!! 🙂 🙂

Hey guys! Just had my interview today and they said today is the last interview day they're doing. I thought i would pass the info along!

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news 🙁 hope it all works out for you guys!

Thanks for info. Bummer...why must they torture us!?! Would rather have just gotten the rejection with others! Do they waitlist anyone they don't interview? Maybe we're in that pile?

I don't understand this either, it's not fair to the applicants to give them hardly any contact, after all that was invested for applying. I feel like my application has been in the pile the whole time and never touched...

Yeah, but at least it was inexpensive and frustrating....so we've got that going for us. 😡

I also have not heard anything whatsoever about my status. I would assume it's a rejection at this point, but I would have loved to know my status weeks ago just to get it out of the way. I wholeheartedly agree with everyone's frustrations and issues about how they went about the application process. Penn is my IS and I know many alumni vets and got tired of telling them I didn't have any news, either way. I realize sorting thru applications is a busy and hectic process for every school, but out of all the schools I applied to, I must say I think Penn went about it in the most unprofessional way simply by lack of communication. That said, it's a great school with an excellent reputation. I just think they need to revamp their application review timeline.

Anyway, congrats to everyone who was accepted! And for those of you who accepted your offer, have some Chickie's and Pete's for me! 🙂

Since we weren't rejected right off the bat, that means we have a chance. After we get our rejections we should all contact penn and see why we didn't make the cut. THen when we apply next year we're sure to get in. I wish everyone luck in the next application cycle. As for me, im going to start looking forward to it as well. We'll get there 🙂

At this point, I'm hoping to get a rejection Monday or Tuesday so I can finally get some closure (especially since this is the last school I'm waiting to hear from).

@jwolf22 if you plan to reapply, a file review is a good idea. Assuming Penn does them.

They do. I think you have to wait until after April 16th or May 1st to schedule them, but they'll either do it over the phone or in person if you live locally.
