I think they get a reduced rate at the parking garage at the top of the hill. I could be wrong but I seem to recall this (did a fourth year sub-I)

Parking is included as part of your stipend.

If you take overnight call (IM, GSurg, a few other things), you get 'good' parking in the Presby garage, connected to the hospital. The rest of us park on top of the hill at Towerview. Walking up the hill is a brisk 5-10 minutes whether you running vs. strolling. It's kind of a pain. There's a shuttle from the garage to the hospital (and back), but the route it takes makes me choose to walk.

You can't pay extra and get 'good parking', I've looked into it.

Incidentally, if you live in Shadyside (a neighborhood 2 miles away, where many residents stay), the commute, including parking, takes about 20-30 minutes, depending on traffic. If you ride the bus, it takes about 10. So, I do that if I have loose change.
