Hi everyone this is gonna be a bit long since it’s a complicated situation.

CA resident and would like to do a competitive speciality like Derm in the future (I know hella hard for DO but worth a try)

RVU- accepted pending status.
Ok so basically I got accepted already. But they had accepted too many students this year so I’m kind of on this waitlist for someone to drop. However if I don’t get in this year I would automatically get in for the next class. I don’t mind this since this just means another year for myself and to make money to pay for school. I’m constantly on edge bc they can call me anytime within this next month and I have to haul my ass to Colorado which is HIGHKEY stressful. I think ppl have called and said that they will defer to next year and that wasn’t a problem. I would probably do this if I don’t get a call within the next week.

Pros:
-good match list
-nice weather (I like cold)
-15k cheaper tuition (almsot 60k less than going to AZCOM)
-p/np/h

Cons:
-Far from home and no rotations in California
-for profit which I feel like doesn’t affect me that much…

AZCOM- acceptance

Pro:
-good rep
-close to CA= rotations in CA
-connections since the providers I worked w during my gap years know other Derm providers in AZ since they also went to AZCOM
- comparable match rate?

Cons:
- hot af
- tuition hella high
- graded scaled (including +/-)

So I guess I want to know everyone’s opinion of each school. I don’t mind starting next year with RVU. But I just wanted more insight on each school.

Starting next year means you wipe out a year’s worth of attending salary. Go to AZCOM. Better to take the offer now and get started on moving there.

AZCOM is a much better school and has MUCH better clinical rotations (as someone who routinely interviews students from both schools for residency)
