USC Class of 2013

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Got my invite today. Supplemental sent late June. Good luck everyone! 👍

Yay, congrats everyone. I would love to get an invite this week. We'll see. 🙂

I received my letter yesterday as well! My interview is at 8:30am~
I sent my Pharmcas mid August and my supplemental early September.
For those of you who got invites, did you read the part about having to write an essay after the interview? Do you think this is the same as last year when they had to read an article and then summarize it? Or do you think we have to write a real essay? =(

Nothing in the mail for me again. Has anyone from the O.C. gotten an invite yet?

The letters were sent on Monday - so if you live in the OC, you should have received it by now. I would call them tomorrow and ask.

I wonder how long it takes for mail to arrive in TN??🙄

Did you get yours yet? Yea, I figured the letters should arrive here in the OC the latest today. If I don't get it by tomorrow, then I'm going to give them a call. Or maybe I don't even deserve an interview invite.

You never know how snail mail is. If you are from the OC, dont sweat. There's still plenty of time for your letter to come.

I've heard of many problems involving mail being returned and getting lost. Calling them will tell you if you got an interview or not.

Are all USC invites sent out at once or on an as-need, rolling basis?

i submitted my pharmcas on 9/3 and my supplement on 8/23... i also received my ack. form...and no invite...do you think that the people they have invited are the early applicants?

and do you guys think i should call just to make sure that nothing happened in snail mail?

I'm going to go ahead and call tomorrow morning anyways. I was just afraid that I might get yelled at for asking such a question like it happened to blulavender.

i got an interview nov 15th at 11 am! if this helps n e one, i turned in pharmcas at the end of july and my supplemental the first week of september

anyone from the northern cali get an interview invite?

Hey everyone, once again congrats to everyone who received an invitation for the 1st round interview on Nov 15. And for those who are still waiting, remain optimistic, and good luck!:luck:

I have my interview on Nov 15, so I decided to gather a little bit of statistics about last year's interviewing process in order to be realistic, and calm about this entire process.

Statistics for 2007 Entering Class Acceptees (retrieved from PharmCAS)
Number interviewed - 585
Number accepted - 190
Estimated entering class size - 190
Estimated male - 24.7 %
Estimated female - 75.3 %
Number out-of-state accepted - 14

Statistics for 2008 Entering Class Acceptees (retrieved from PharmCAS)
Number interviewed - 480

Number accepted - 190
Estimated entering class size - 190
Estimated male - 24 %
Estimated female - 76 %
Number out-of-state accepted - 12

From what I gathered from last year's thread in SDN regarding to the interviewing process....

- USC receives approx 1300 - 1500 applications each year (If I am not mistaken, it was a little higher last year). They interview 400-500. Approx 285 applicants get accepted for 190 seats (some will go to other schools like UCSF, UCSD, Western, etc).

- 1st round interview (Nov): approx 45-55 get accepted from a total of 150 interviewees (30% - 37% acceptance rate)

Those who were not accepted but were still strong candidates were put on ACTIVE CONSIDERATION list. They get re-reviewed after each interview session (the one in Jan, Feb, and Mar). If USC likes you then they put you on the wait-list and will give you a ranking number.

- If you get accepted, you will be receiving a BIG YELLOW ENVELOPE within 4-5 weeks after your interview date. :hardy:

- If you are considered as "active consideration" you will receive a WHITE ENVELOPE within 4-5 weeks after your interview date. :scared:

- FYI: A certain number of seats are already saved (pre-determined) for USC TAPP students.

So if there is anyone who went through the interview from last year, is there any pointers you have for us? Thanks.

Welp, no mail again. I'm just curious whether we'll get at least a "you're under consideration" or a denial letter, or whether they're only sending out invites as they're selected.

I think you can only get an active consideration letter is if you get interviewed and not get admitted. So you'll either get an interview letter or a denial letter. But USC does not reject anyone before winter break.

My experience is it takes 5 days to get to AR from CA, probably the same for TN. It took 4 days to get to Loma Linda, for what it's worth.

Cool, cool. I checked my mail today and still no news. Hopefully tomorrow!

So we play the waiting game... 🙂

Yep. So if your application is complete [complete if you received the lack letter], then any news from USC around this time should be good news!

Haha, it's only good news if we get accepted.😀 Interview only means running the marathon, not finishing it. haha.

So I contacted the pharmacy program via email asking about a lack letter. And I insisted about when I would be receiving a lack letter, and they said that my file is complete and under evaluation and resent me the ack form AGAIN.

I just want to get this straight---When my application is finsihed being evaluated, will I then get a lack letter?

The admissions office keeps giving me the run-around and I am afraid that they will withdraw my application like they did last year =(

Any ideas on what I should do? thanks!!

not necessarily. some applicants will, some applicants wont.

THE BIG questions are, how do they determine who gets a lack letter? and/or what what does that mean?

I'm in the same boat too. It's been over a month since I sent my supplemental and received my acknowledgement email, but no lack letter yet. Apparently, it's something you get even if all your pre-reqs are good.

Is there anyone else who is waiting for a lack letter - how long have you been waiting? And does anyone know if its usual to wait over a month for it? (Thanks!)

Nothing for me either. I called the office this morning, but they didn't reveal anything. All she said was that the letters went out on Monday.

Hi cinnamoroll, so does that mean that they are completely done sending out the invitation letters for the Nov. interview?
thanks

Yeah, all of it was mailed out on monday. Let's just hope the mail man is being slow.😛

You shouldn't worry much because you're located all the way in Tennessee. So you still got hope. :luck:

Hate to say it, but if you don't get an interview invite you don't typically hear anything. I didn't hear from them until late Feb the year I applied and I sent my app/supp in at the end of October. The only info I got were lack letters after each file update (new transcripts). On the one hand, no news is good news (no rejection) on the other, it sucks (no interview.) Just sit tight.

I'm from San Diego. I finished my supplemental and PharmCAS in July. Didn't receive anything in the mail from USC. I'm on the verge of being bummed out. =/

I got my interview invite for 11/15 in the mail today yay! And yup, it was mailed on Oct. 20. I'm from Norcal (San Jose), and I turned in my application Sept. 9. Good luck everyone.

I got my USC invite today for 945am Nov 15! It took 5 days to get from LA to San Diego! I was starting to think that I wasn't going to get one because people from northern CA received theirs already! I don't know why it took so long! It might have to do with the community I live in being somewhat new and off the map.

Congrats! At least this gives me some hope, although 5-6 days from LA to OC is very unlikely.

I just received at 2:18 pm PST an email titled: "Supplemental Application and Document Acknowledgment Form". It said I had to mail transcripts, which I just did yesterday, so hopefully my application will be complete very soon and maybe an interview invite...

I'm confused, so when is the USC applications completely complete? When I receive both the Supplemental Application Received letter and the Supplemental Application and Document Acknowledgment Form by email?

Hey guys, can anyone from last year kindly give pointers for the people who are going to the Nov interview? thanks

Just got back from my interview with Minnesota and found an invite from USC waiting for me!!! 😀 I am deeply honored since I am from NYC!!! I'm contemplating if I should accept or not since they take accept very few out-of-staters, but I'll probably go. It's worth a shot!!! Plus, I never been to Cali and would love to see USC.

Man, this time last year I was getting rejections after rejections. I am so happy I applied to a more broader range of schools this cycle.

Good luck to us all!!! 🙂

Congrats!🙂 On a side note, these letters are arriving at the most random times given the location relative to USC. They should have sent it through email.

I just received my interview letter this morning!! I'm so happy/excited! My interview time will at 11:40am. Btw, I'm from Tennessee!😛 Good luck to everyone!
