My secondary for Northwestern is due on Monday.

I had it sent by overnight mail on Friday. I went to tracking at usps.gov, and they said:

"We attempted to deliver your item at 9:14 am on September 13, 2003 in CHICAGO, IL 60611 and a notice was left. A second delivery attempt will be made. If unsuccessful, we will hold it for five business days and then it will be returned to the sender. Status is updated every evening. Please check again later. "

So they're going to try again tomorrow, and it'll be rejected again? 😕

I've had lots of stuff sent to offices on Friday by overnight mail, and I've never had this problem before.

Their offices are probably closed today, and they might have to be present or sign for overnight delivery. I'm sure they'll get it on Monday (I doubt the USPS delivers on Sunday). Also, NW has the notice (proof that tells them it was in on time and it was not your fault they were not there.)

I'm suprised that you even had that much information from USPS. I have found that their tracking service is lousy. While stuff gets to where its suposed to get I've never had the tracking thing to be accurate. I remember mailing something to a friend and she had it days before the website said it was delivered.

I agree. I sent a certified application to a med school last month. I know it was recieved but according to the usps tracking website, it is still enroute. Check with the med school on Monday. They will most likely have it by then.

Good luck!

you can sign the usps form to have them just drop it into the mailbox instead of having someone to sign for it. just to let you know for next time

Why bother? I dropped everything in my local mailbox, and every piece of paper I sent to an adcom thus far has made it to the intended destination promptly.

They needed it to get there by Monday.
