I'll be there on March 21 and 22 for the scholarship interview. Are you gonna be there Asclepius?

By the way it's Medtronic Sofamor Danek.

holy crap! I said "sophomore" haha...that just kinda slipped out.

Yeah, scholarship interviews...

I finally get to meet another SDNer. Are you from Ktown or just going to school there?

Having just come back from Memphis, I just wanted to add that I think they have some of the best clinical rotations that I have seen.

Great school....now all I have to do is play the waiting game. 🙂

Good luck, Robz! I hope it went well. You should hear back within two weeks of your interview. 🙂

I had a great time and both my interviews went well. It was more a conversation rather than some of the question driven formats other schools have used. I think I am more an advocate for the school now than I was before I went there.

Now I get to watch my mail like a hawk again. 🙂

Good luck Robz, I hope you get in. Hows the weather in Knoxville today? I saw on the Weather Channel that y'all were getting some snow today. Any accumulation?

MUHAHAHAHAHAH! This place shuts down the second a flake of snow hits the atmosphere. It did so around last week when there was a small blanket of snow.

Luckly for us, there was nothing. Nada. Zip. Zero. They said there was suppose to be some snow yesterday and today but there ended up being just a small rainy day. Its fine with me as I slept in today after getting in from Memphis late last night.

As for Memphis, I hope I get in. Thanks for your kind thoughts on that. I had pretty sweet interviews as my first interview was an hour and forty minutes and my second interview in Memphis went a little over an hour. It was really quite relaxed. The only worry that I really have/had is that I'm interviewing late in the game and thought the class may be full. I was assured that there were still spots available in the class. In fact they were joking saying there was only one spot left and we had to fight for it..I replied its medical school survivor and I'm voting them all out! 🙂 Gotta have humor right? So, I'll keep my fingers crossed and see what happens. 😀

There must be some spots left because a girl that works in my department just received her acceptance letter today. But even if you get WLed you still have a pretty good shot. The WL moves quite bit, usually.

Best of Luck Robz... maybe you will hear on the luckiest day of the year... St. Paddy's Day!

I was looking back at last year's program for orientation, and if I projected things correctly, our white coat ceremony is on Friday the 13th of August??!?!?! Just tell me it is not an omen!!

Take care all!

great...the admissions committee reviewed my application on Friday the 13th...this makes too many Friday the 13ths for the beginning of my medical career:scared:

You guys that have interviewed, tomorrow will be two weeks since my interview, and I'm still waiting. How long did it take for you all to hear back? It's killin' me?

I interviewed on the 8th and they told me the committee met on Friday. So....our fates are sealed. I was at my class in UTMCK today and one of my classmates interviewed a week before me, probably the same time you did. He had not heard back yet either but he knew his interviewer was going to Lousiana for the Friday he interviewed. I would think you will hear something by this weekend. I'm in the same boat as ya. 🙂

Well instead of a bump...(just messing with you md2 be in TN) 😉

I got the the survey questionare in the mail today and if your not expecting it the small thin envelope can cause you a heart attack. I'm glad they put the "survey enclosed" warning on the front.

Anyway, those that are interviewing for the scholarships I wish you all luck. Free money is the best kind of money!

Thanks, Robz!

For those of you waiting. Nelson mentioned that we might receive our letters at the end of the week (Friday or Saturday) after our interviews. I think I actually received my letter on the Tuesday two weeks after my interview...so, exactly two weeks after my interview. There was a postal holiday the week after my interview, though. I live in Memphis too, so it's possible that the letter won't make it to East TN until even later.

So, be prepared for that, but most people I have talked to receive their letters on the Friday or Saturday of the week after their interviews.

Good luck! 👍 👍

Good news about the survey, but that means that I should have gotten it last week...(i interviewed on the 3rd). Maybe I got rolled back in the ADCOMs agenda.

I've been waiting for about 3 weeks. I about had a heart attack too when I saw the thin envelope containing the survey. I got that one week after my interview. Post up if there's any new info from anyone. Good luck and I hope all of us get in.

If it is any consolation, I have been waiting for a decision since mid-December... strange, considering how one of my interviewers specifically told me that "some members of the admissions committee really like you."

But then again, I am not a resident of Tennessee either.

What state are you from, do you have any ties?

I know its written that they can only take 10% of their class from out of state with preference to UT alumni and nearby states first. With a class of 150 that means only 15 can fulfill this. (See I can do math!) I am sure they have a hard time picking those few. They may not take 10% either.

now how's for putting in a good word for me next year😉

I'm rooting for you to knock out a 35+ on the MCAT. Be thankful your taking it in April and not in August when you can hear the marching band playing outside the test every year. I'm not joking!

So i've heard, the thought of taking the MCAT with Rocky Top playing in the background is somewhat unnerving....

I am somewhat afraid that I may have too high of expectations of myself and that I am gonna have a nervous breakdown when i get a 28

MUHHAHAHAHAHAHA!

I know your identity. ....

Okay I changed it. Totally met you at the Love Your Libraries 5K. Never forget a name or face. You slipped and I caught it.

Well I don't know who you are...then again I spend all my time at UT in the HPER building for my grad classes and the rest of the time in the T-Recs gym.

I do though think that all UT SDN people should get together for a drink on the strip!

WOOO HOO!

good times!

I am happy anywhere with drinks....

oh and its easy to out you when you use your real account for your MCAT countdown. Just thought I would point that out.

I'm on the way there in 5 minutes with the roommates. Three bucks to get in all the bars for St. Patty's day with all sorts of specials.

cool. On New Years Eve I bought a "5 for 5$" thing that was supposed to get me into 5 old city bars....They apparently cancelled the thing without telling anyone though so we ended up at Barleys all night since I wasnt going to pay another 5 to get into Patrick Sullivans.

I so envy you. I am writing a paper on Chapter 7 and Chapter 11 bankrupcy and its relationship to healthcare financial managment thats due tomorrow. All I want now is to go grab a few brews....instead its writing time.

I need to ask my **** major friends to find out what you're like. I feel strangely empowered to have discovered someone's identity on SDN, in a very stalker sort of way.😀

I hate using smiley faces.

Time to drink since I have no homework.

Hah, math majors are a weird bunch. I actually dont know many of them since math classes are usually 80% engineers.

Drink up for me, I am on a drinking haitus till I get over this cold.

Damn! How the crap did you figure out I ran that?

Hey Robz,

My friend Jenny Wright is running for President of the Graduate Student Senate. You should definitely vote for her on March 30 or 31st.

She is totally hot and smart at the same time. Very rare, especially a UT.

I'll have to check up on that....hot and smart...good combo.

maybe we should all go to the Mouses Ear. Menem, can blow some of that cash he will be saving when he gets the full ride at UMem and buy everyone a lapdance. It may not be the most popular idea if there are any female knoxvillans though....

Hey any of you guys heard anything today, any whispers in class, anything?

UTK blows goats!! 😉

menemotxi told me that I would probably recognize him at the scholarship interviews coming up...he's "the guy from UT." We got the iteneraries recently, and 7 or 8 of the 15 of us are from UT.

I think I'm the only person from my school...great.
