I'm still waitin has anyone heard anything from UT memphis?
 
I got an email about a week ago saying that my file was complete and they had begun a preliminary review of my file. Nothing since then.
 
I got my secondary on 9/9/06 and sent it in immediately. You have to have a passport photo.
 
I also got the email about a week ago. so i should be hearing from them i hope,
 
How long after you believe they should have received all your supplemental materials did u receive an email stating that u were complete?

If u applied to ETSU as well, did they send an email response as well and how long did that take?

I'm thinking about calling them to make sure they got everything.

It was about a month for me.
 
i heard that they're running a little late and will start sending out interview invites in early/mid october.
 
How long after UT notified you that they'd received your AMCAS did you receive a secondary (or rejection...)? Thanks!

i got the amcas email from UT on 7/19, 2ndary on 7/26, 2ndary "acknowledgement" on 8/8, "complete" on 8/31
 
AMCAS received 8/21, secondary 8/22, acknowledgement 8/23, complete 9/7
 
I turned in my secondary a couple of weeks ago and haven't heard anything back from UT.

hm... I got the email about my AMCAS the 14th and haven't heard anything sense... is this a bad sign?? I'm in state, and my stats aren't that bad, so I really expected to get a secondary at least.....

I also heard they won't be sending out invites until October. I forgot where I saw this though.

Mississippi State 🙂 Got out of TN for a while, but I'm ready to be back. Or, well, ready to be anywhere but MS! Haha, j/k, but really, being relatively close to a real city again would be nice...
 
First year at UT here... don't worry if you get your secondary from UT a little late. UT was the last secondary I recieved. I have also heard that interviews won't start until October. Rest assured it will be worth the wait. If I can answer any questions, just let me know (its PCC week)

hey, i'm an oos applicant with pretty competitive stats, and i haven't heard anything from UT yet. My AMCAS was complete the first week of August, and they haven't even acknowledged that they received my AMCAS application. Anybody else have this same problem? Should I try to get in touch with their office b/c it has been almost 2 months?

I'd get in touch with Nelson if I were you. I sent in my AMCAS the last week of July and was verified a month later. They sent me a secondary about two weeks after I was verified.
 
It also took me about 2 weeks to get the secondary. I think I'd call if it's been two months. (I'm in state though)

Hi Goose-d

When did you end up interviewing and how long after you interviewed before you got your acceptance? And did you get a call, email or snail mail with your acceptance?

Hi there.

I interviewed here in mid November and I was notified of my acceptance about two weeks later by email, which was followed by a snail mail packet. They are very good here about letting you know when you are accepted (ie the email was sent the day the committee met).

Same story here...complete application but no interview request yet. I got one last year with lower stats, and while I realize that's not a guarantee I would still expect one this year. It's cool to see so many people applying to "my" state school...make sure you post interview requests and dates on the thread for interviews; that way we can track both UT's progress and maybe talk to each other before meeting on interview day. Strength in numbers >).

I'm OOS, too. I added UT-Memphis the second week of August, and haven't received anything. I called about 3 weeks ago, and they said that a decision might not be made until closer to Nov. for some OOS.
 
I see that some interviews have been scheduled for UT. When are your interviews?
 
This process is going to make me lose my mind. Anyone have any updates on UT just so that I won't go absolutely crazy. Only 3 people from here have interviews so far? Really???
 
I don't know much about the application process this cycle and its been a few years since I applied. However, I am an M1 here so if anyone has any questions about UT Memphis, I'd be glad to answer them - just pm me.

Well, you need to keep in mind that SDN only represents a small portion of people who will actually apply to UT Memphis. Also, MDApplicants has an even smaller pool of people listing UTM. Anyway...still no interview for me either, and I'm in state.

Just one question...can you get us some interviews over here?! >)
 
I can't make any guarantees or anything, but I can say that I have been told by a very, very reliable source at UT that they intend to interview everyone that they send a supplemental to. It's not always 100%, but exceptions are quite rare. Hopefully we'll all get good news soon! 🙂

Interesting. I would believe that, and it at least seems possible. I'm not sure if that's good news or bad news though. At least it means we all have a chance, but on the other hand it means we're directly competing against a larger group of interviewees. Just for the record, my file was complete on 8/31.
 
Well, yours was complete before mine, so maybe you will get interviewed sooner. It's really nice to know that they interview 100% of the people who get secondaries. How many of those people get accepted? I did read somewhere that they accept 50% of the in-state students who apply. So, I wonder if all 50% of the in-state students got secondaries, and the other half didn't. Wishful thinking!:laugh:

According to my snazzy brochure, in 2006 they interviewed 378 of the 1,268 applicants in order to fill their class of 150. I would guess that they have to accept at least 200 in order to matriculate 150, if not more than that, so that would mean that last year, over 50% of interviewees were accepted. I like those numbers 🙂
 
I spoke in person with Dean Strother (he's the dean of admissions) last week after I got notified that I had an interview offer from UT. If you get an interview you have a very good shot of getting into UT-Memphis. According to him, very few interviewees are rejected and those not given acceptances are put on the waitlist. Off of the waitlist, about 40% of those people eventually get an acceptance. UT interviews a small number of applicants (under 400 I believe) for the 150 slots. His point was that UT reviews applications quite a bit before offering interviews. Its easy for me to say "just be patient" since I already have an interview, but Dean Strother's comments to me made it seem that gettting an interview offer when I did was very early and that he still has many applications to sift through.

It is refreshing though compared to a school like Vandy where only 10% of the interviewees get accepted. A UT interview is a pretty good indication that you are on the right track.
